Life’s full of blatantly sexist things and the everyday heroes of the internet keep calling them out, poking fun at them, and shining a bright spotlight on them to make it clear—these things are not okay. And, bit by bit, society changes. Hopefully, for the better.

The r/TrollXChromosomes subreddit, an online group that’s been active for a whopping decade and has over 812k members, documents when women and men confront sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity head-on. Have a look through some of their newest posts that we’ve collected for you, dear Pandas, and be sure to upvote the ones that rekindled your hope in greater equality in the world.

When you’re done with this list, we invite you to read through our first article about blatantly obvious sexism right here. Meanwhile, scroll down for our interview with psychotherapist Silva Neves, who explained to Bored Panda what men can do to put an end to toxicity, misogyny, and homophobia. According to him, it’s about redefining what ‘male success’ means and teaching society to stop turning a blind eye to what’s wrong.

Education is a vital part of the fight for greater equality, compassion, inclusiveness, and respect. However, alone without any ongoing and passionate support from us, education isn’t the panacea against sexism, misogyny, and toxic masculinity that some of us are looking for. It’s not a one-and-done kind of deal: it’s a long, arduous, exhausting process, a war of attrition between competing ideas.

“Better education is definitely key but it is also down to all of us to challenge it by not allowing toxic masculinity to keep going. It means that we all have to actively challenge misogyny and homophobia,” psychotherapist Silva noted in an interview with Bored Panda. He added that both misogyny and homophobia are “still prevalent now in the UK,” where he is based, and “too many people continue to turn a blind eye when they see it.”

Incomplete analogy - she also needs to be the one who, on seeing a bloke be just a little tipsy, buys him more drinks before he's finished the last one, so he's kept just a little off-kilter by how many he's had, because of course, he shouldn't have drunk so much if he didn't want to get robbed.

According to Silva, men need to do their part and be more in tune with their emotions, instead of trying to repress them as is par for course with toxic masculinity.

“We need more representations of men who embrace their emotions, talk about them and show them with crying, laughing, or hugging,” he said.

Honestly I stopped dating,so I don't start to judge men over a bunch of men which " don't find we match- but can I get some sexual service instead?" Annoying how often it happens.- and it's not my clothes or behavior.( I'm already used to this explanation automatically) Wanna stay openminded and believe in all the good guys out there- so I've just avoid this situations by now.

Something else that drastically needs to change is how ‘male success’ and masculinity are defined. “We also need to change the image of 'male success'. So, basically, we need to change society at its core because toxic masculinity is part of a faulty system of thoughts. That will take time, but it can start with all of us doing our parts about it,” the psychotherapist told Bored Panda.

Women are not dismissible incubators. I wonder if men would be okay with an unwanted growth in their organs for 9 months, causing weight gain, mood swings, nausea, and basically a complete loss of bodily autonomy as strangers constantly pat you like a class gerbil. I assume men would not be okay with that. Why they think women should be is beyond me. If you want to avoid unwanted pregnancies, get a vasectomy.

I won't ever get an abortion because I believe a baby shouldn't be killed for being conceived, but I also believe women should have the right to have one if the want to. If you outlaw it, it will become more dangerous because women will still get abortions somehow and it could result in so many deaths. Let people have abortions if they want!

Besides the total assault on women's rights that abortion restriction enforces, there is also no good legal argument for banning it. A fetus has no legal standing and is not the property of any person (even the mother). Personally I disagree with having abortions once the fetus becomes fully viable and can survive on its own but the rights of the woman should always be honored without exception for a possible future life.

When I was in high school, some local politician came to speak about a law he was supporting that would require minors under 18 to have parental consent to get an abortion, because teenage girls are too young to make that decision. I asked him if that also meant parents should be allowed to force an abortion on a 17 year-old who wants to have the baby. He stammered around a bit but never really answered.

How come when a pregnant woman dies in a car crash her dead fetus is always referred to as an unborn child and the other driver if at fault can be charged with TWO counts of vehicular manslaughter? What makes her fetus and unborn child but yours is not just because you WANT to kill it? How is it ONLY a child when you want to keep it but it's just a fetus when you don't and you cannot be held accountable? I'm NOT taking sides, I'm just pointing out the hypocrisy.

I’m very against abortion, but this argument definitely helped me see the other side. If you think of it like someone not being willing to donate an organ because it would take a long recovery time, even if it would save someone’s life, it still seems callous and cruel, but less like murder.

This is such an incredibly cretinous comparison. Where to even begin? Insisting that it's solely a women's right issue is taking the polar opposite to "life begins at conception", and it's equally helpful – that is to say, not at all. You ARE terminating a human life. And while there are always cases of rape, risk to the health of the woman, etc, the vast majority of unwanted pregnancies come from consensual sex. Up until the first month or so, an embryo barely qualifies as a human being, whereas at nine months they definitely do, but there isn't a magic threshold somewhere in the middle where you can definitely say whether it's a baby or not. So claiming that "it's my body and I can do whatever I want" completely ignores the fact that you're doing something to the body of someone not capable of making that decision.

Well.. I would love to get rid of my womb, but unfortunately even that has age restriction (you have to be 30, if I remember correctly) and if the woman is in a relationship, her boyfriend/husband will be asked for an opinion. Though if there is a medical condition, then it can be done without too much of a hassle.

BULLSHIT! In indonesia, all people are automatically organ donors the day they turn 18. You have to opt-out with a valid reason. But abortion, MUST be a 2-person deal. You let the spermies in, you have a 50% vote. You knew from day ONE your body would be the factory. Pro choice within reason here.

Well, outside of rape, the woman assumedly consented prior to the action which she knew had a chance of resulting in pregnancy. Both required prior consent. Where this differs is, when is the fetus entitled with personhood and therefore protections and duty to attempt to preserve life? Conception? First heartbeat? Exiting the womb? In some states it is legal to terminate a pregnancy of a baby that is capable of surviving outside the womb and the threshold of viability will only get lower as neonatal technology gets better.

My opinion is this, and think what you will. I'm neither pro, nor anti- abortion because there is no sweeping answer for every case. Dangerous to the mother or from an assault? No question, anyone who says no to those abortions is wrong. First time having sex, something went wrong or you were super naive and believed some of the nonsense you read online about pulling out? Go for it, life lesson. Got pregnant for the fourth time, but you only really wanted 3 kids? You kinda knew the score here, can you seriously look at your children and then get an abortion rather than looking at adoption? Yeah, he maybe should have covered up, but you didn't do it either so... Pill didn't work or protection broke? Happens, sucks, your choice, but don't rush into it and regret it. TLDR: Depends on the situation, but it shouldn't be an "easy out" for having lots of fun with zero consideration for the consequences

I once heard that the rate of attempted suicides among men is about the same as that among women. But men are more often successful. A woman would take sleeping pills or cut her pulse. You can still save them in time. A guy jumps in front of the train or out of the window and is dead. Those might be clichees too, but women think more and men are more impulsive / spontaneous.

Problem is, as with any social construct, sexism has multiple levels. You have "innocent" or mimetic sexism (literally just doing what everyone else does with no beliefs or understanding involved; seen almost exclusively in small children), passive sexism (weakly-held beliefs at best, mostly just doing it because they either don't know there's an alternative or haven't given it much thought; many fall into this category), active sexism (strongly-held beliefs, resistant to alternative viewpoints, very prone to cognitive dissonance), and extremist sexism (striving to enforce and enhance sexist attitudes and beliefs in others as well as holding strong sexist beliefs).

Don't forget the "what a waste", but it's like "sorry dude, even if she liked men, she still wouldn't be dating you"

We're clearly soldiers in petticoats And dauntless crusaders for women's votes Though we adore men individually We agree that as a group they're rather stupid

This American YouTuber lost it when she came to New Zealand, because when she had kids in the US, she lost her career and had to start over. Then she found out that we get maternity leave and our prime minister used it during her first term, and it really hit this woman that whatever problems we have in this department, the US is next-level horrible about it. It really sucks and I hope the US improves that.
