Bride Cancels Photographer For $3200 Because She Found Someone For $50, Regrets Her Decision And Asks Them To Do A Photoshoot For Free

Time and again we hear stories about choosing beggars, the kind of people who feel entitled to getting things for free. This story about one such person comes from a professional photographer, which doesn’t come as surprise, having in mind how many weird and often delusional requests photographers receive on a daily basis.

“The client booked me for a wedding at $3200 – this is a full package,” the Redditor u/cricoff shared a screenshot of a story on the Choosing Beggars subreddit. The post said that the bride then found someone else who was only charging $50 for wedding photos, so she ended up canceling the professional and losing her deposit.

Understandably, the bride was less than happy with the result of the $50 photoshoot. But the only person she blamed for the poor result was the professional whom she canceled prior.

If that doesn’t make much sense, it’s fine, because it kind of doesn’t. Scroll down to see how the story ended below, and let us know what you think of the incident in the comments.

Let's Say i booked something for 3200$ and then found a bargain... This would never be for 50$. 50$ for something that was supposed to be 3200$ is going to look as cheap as it cost and if I was willing to pay 3200$, it means that I wasn't going for cheap.

It was her choice to cancel, her responsibility to do the research and in fairness, you don't have to look long to get advice that 50 dollar wedding photos are likely to be awful. A simple "no, I won't be doing that" would probably suffice.

She sounds like someone who has to blame others for her bad decisions. She wouldn't have listened to you if you tried to talk her out of it anyway. She might have given you a hard time about your work. You owe her nothing other than telling her that you are not responsible for her bad decisions.

You have every right to charge a non refundable deposit. You could have taken another $3,200 job which is a bargain as I know couples pay upwards of $5,000. You have to protect your professional reputation. She got what she paid for and you owe her nothing, not even a warning when she told you that she found someone for $50.00!! Like the old saying, if you buy a diamond ring for ten cents, you have a ring that isn’t worth a dime.

I was a wedding photographer for many years. Sadly this doesn't surprise me. When digital became big, anyone with a camera was suddenly a "professional photographer." They would charge a quarter what I charged with my formal training and15 years of experience. And the brides! One bride said she was going to sue me for $100 and my indemnification insurance said to just pay it, no matter what. That became the end of my career.

she thinks because she paid a deposit that you owe her a freebie not realizing the deposit was basically a retainers fee like a lawyer to keep the dates requested in the package open for her which is loss business for you because she cancelled to where you could've scheduled other clients. you are a business not a charity. she wanted cheaper and got cheap work. I hope you recorded or made sure you keep record of the day she called on your phone or any messages of her canceling, so she doesn't try to fight in court stating you never showed. Protect you and your business and simply reply with stated contract and cancellation terms and offer a sympathetic sorry that your choice of photographer did not work out, ill be happy to schedule a session for a cost, money up front and double. In the future I would third party with a notary regarding any cancelations so it's on record with witness and not hearsay. but definitely keep those messages she sent you a week later for court purposes.

He showed up at my frequented bar not two months later asking me why I didn't basically try to manipulate him into staying with me instead. How much was her deposit that she forfeited when she canceled? Although you are under absolutely no obligation to do anything, you could be gracious and do a photo shoot for whatever amount of the deposit would cover. It may get you so much goodwill for saving the day even after being so mistreated that you may end up getting more business from her word of mouth or this forum. If nothing else you'd feel good for coming to the rescue.

Hi Pandas! I thought it would be a good idea to make a subreddit for Bored Panda. This is a place where you can share your favourite Bored Panda posts, funny comments or any posts you think should be on Bored Panda. I'm trying to make sure that Bored Panda finds out about this themselves. I will be posting this a lot, but i'm hoping you understand its not spam. The more members we get the better.
