‘MAGA Hats, We’re Coming For You’: Viral Post That Seems Like A Threat Takes A Wholesome Turn

The 2020 United States presidential election is over. And while not all the votes have been counted yet, we know that the Democratic ticket of former vice president Joe Biden and U.S. Senator Kamala Harris defeated the Republican ticket of incumbent President Donald Trump and vice president Mike Pence.

But both President Trump and many of his supporters refuse to acknowledge that they lost the election. This — and many other things — continues to instigate tensions between the two camps.

Sandy Lee, a technology administrator from California, however, doesn’t want that. He, much like Joe Biden, seeks not to divide but unify the United States. So, Lee sent a wholesome threat to Trump supporters, telling them what relentless love sounds like.

You could say the post is a result of the sheer relief Sandy felt upon hearing Joe Biden became the President-Elect. “After such a close race, I wanted everyone to be that happy,” he told Bored Panda. “Then I reflected on the needs of the country right now. Healthcare, education, and poverty are taking its toll on families across the land. The last line was meant to address systemic racism. Love is relentless and we must, as Americans, acknowledge our collective sacrifices, shed our fear, and be courageous enough to help. And this can be done regardless of which party is in the White House.”

But why so many voters continue to support Trump, even though Biden won the popular vote?

Rich Thau, who has been living a split-screen existence for the past 21 months in anticipation of the election, conducting his own focus groups in swing states while religiously following the polls, says it might be due to his image. According to Thau, some voters see Trump as a businessman, someone who is best suited to turn the country around economically. They also might feel Covid-19 was not Trump’s fault, and believe he’s doing the best he can to contain it. They can also unconsciously conflate the Black Lives Matter protesters with the rioters attacking federal buildings and retail shops and dismiss defunding the police as endangering their security.

Sandy finds today’s climate between Republicans and Democrats incredibly hostile. Even to the point of overt racism, physical violence, and in some tragic instances, death. “My post was intended to allow people to recognize how we can help each other despite our political beliefs. My family, like many others, has both conservative and liberal members, yet we all gather together for family dinner.”

He thinks many conservatives will disregard his words and outright accuse him of spreading Covid-19 because he’s Chinese (even though he tested negative). “But if they can take away the message that there are people willing to help them with whatever they’re dealing with, and they can take their index finger out of the trigger guard because there is no pizza shop basement pedo-sex-slave buffet, that would make me happy,” Sandy said. “Once the finger is off the trigger, we can start talking.”

Growing up, I was taught a description of heaven and hell. In hell, there is a banquet table filled with every wonderful food imaginable, but everyone is sitting there miserable and hungry because all they have are incredibly long spoons and they can't get the food into their mouths. Heaven is exactly the same. Same banquet table, same long spoons. But everyone is happy and eating. Why? Because the people in heaven are feeding each other....in this world, there is enough at the banquet table for everyone. We just need to feed each other.

I first heard of that with chopsticks, but same message. I think about that frequently during the pandemic, because that is basically what wearing masks is about. Masks protect the other person more than you, and if people didnt fight the concept of protecting someone else, we might be done with this pandemic by now.

This seems fine, but no die-hard MAGA will respond positively to this kind of "help" from (in their eyes) "those kind of people." Health care will always be socialized medicine for them, education will always be indoctrination, and so on. They have to get the help without knowing its "help," if that makes sense. They need to feel heard and supported by someone. That's why they followed Trump against all logic in the first place.

Working in Tech Support for nearly 30 years, I understand how difficult it is to ask for help, I'm one of those people. But I can acknowledge when help is given. Yeah, it's a blow to the ego, but afterwards, I'm always thankful to those that help me and those I help. And I know the government isn't the most efficient machine ever made, but the things they do and the people who do them are absolutely the best we have.

Sentiment is fine, but damn, no. We've endured 4+ years of them crowing, and threatening, and showing what they really are, following someone who's one of the worst people to ever walk the planet. They willingly helped to spread disinformation about a deadly virus, along with justifying every racist, sexist, despicable policy that came out, undoing a lot of positive things for the planet in the name of "Owning the libs". The high ground be damned. They knew what they were doing and to just forgive and forget is exactly why this kind of thing got as bad as it did. I'm all for second chances, but there's a hard limit and they reached it ages ago.
