Today We Did This Lady's Yard
She was telling us how the man next door was charging her to cut her yard, and she could not afford it because she is on a fix income and just came out of the hospital. She also said how he harasses her for the payment. But she need not worry no more because Raising Men Lawn Care Service will be doing her lawn for FREE, just like how we do the rest of the lawns, and will get her lawn done every two weeks. She can use the money on things that she really needs, like medication. We are making a difference.

Had something similar that turned sour - at 19 lived with the parents in a rowhouse. Late at night heard someone in the backyard two teens (15ish) were slipping in to steal our bike. I ran out and chased them away and they dropped a bike they must have swiped elsewhere. Put out word to the local moms about what had happened and that we had a bike with a lock wrapped around it - the owner could come by at any time, unlock the padlock that was just wrapped around the seat, and have their bike back. Woman came in, said it was her kids but she didn't have the key and just sort of bullied past my request for to unlock the padlock. I didn't want to keep the bike if it was hers - but I honestly don't think it was and she just sort of stole the bike by claiming ownership. Also, not a single thank you the whole time. Still salty.

One time my kid (circa 3yr) saw an op shop when we got off the bus. I only had 10c, so we were looking through the magazines for a car or truck one (his big obsession at the time). A lady spotted us, chatted to us etc, kid showed her his shiny 10c coin (lol🫣), she went out the back and brought through a stuffed Superman who she said was 10c, and he needed a good home if kid is interested. Yes he was!! Never forgot that moment: she gave my son a lovely experience and gift, and without shaming me for being so poor back then.

There's a greeter at our local grocery store who will buy a bunch of the $1 Hot Wheels cars and hand them out to the kids as they come in. I've even seen him hand them out to older teens and adults if they're polite enough to ask.

World need more of such stories to regain balance. People are good. People are decent, but what stays in memory is unfairness and violence. All those tiny everyday interactions when regular people are decent to each other are easily overshadowed by the one instance of someone being a true jerk. Most people are good, most deeds are good, most attention goes to unusual acts of shittines, because they're unusual thus interesting. Everyday kindness is boring. It's there, but it's just not worth the attention that being a jerk gets. Shame, most people are so decent!

I work in a restaurant and one day, I had a teenage girl and her father at my table. All of a sudden, I hear her say, "Daddy! Daddy, wake up!" So I rush over, and she is crying while I am trying to see if the dad is okay. He had passed out and his head was on the table. She told me that she needed to call her sister if anything ever happened, which she proceeded to do and handed the phone over to me. It turns out the teenage girl was mentally challenged and was taught to call her sister should anything ever happened. She was so brave, so calm and collected. I was in awe. I don't think I would have been as calm as her if my dad had passed out like that.

Special shout out to Woking library that, back in the late 90s, let me be a member even though I wasn't in their catchment area. I live near an observatory, and any time there's a public community event like a farmer's market or the county fair or whatever, the staff brings down a telescope like that one for the public to view the heavens. If it's a daytime event, they bring a special filter so people can view the sun, and if it's night, they point it at something cool (like whatever planet is most visible or in the direction of a current meteor shower or whatever).

I have a crappy three inch (ish) telescope and a bracket to mount my phone's camera on (because it's more sensitive than my proper camera). Took some photos of Jupiter, got to see three of the moons (basically a single glowy pixel). But over in the corner there was something else, just a little dimmer than Jupiter, I could barely see it but my camera made it out. Zoom, zoom some more. Wait, is that a ring around... Holy f**k, that's SATURN? Yeah, this guy is right to be showing Saturn. The first time you see it, for real and not just a photo in a book, it's 🤯. Jupiter might be huge and have a spot, but Saturn's ring (especially if part shaded by the planet) is something else entirely.

Every so often, the Donelson Library (a suburb of Nashville) hosts a "Fix-it-Fair", and local experts volunteer to help folks out. They fix lamps, sharpen knives, and get lawnmowers running, whatever you need. My guy Austin got a bit rained on to fix my generator, but he had it humming in about 20 minutes. Humans at their best.

You can register to be on a list in case someone matches with you when you donate blood. To donate blood I believe you have to be 16 with parental permission and 17+ otherwise (US). I was on a similar registry for years for bone marrow, but either my bone marrow was so common they didn't need mine, or it was so pathetic that they didn't dare use mine.

I did a similar thing. A granny was struggling with a crying baby, and a toddler who felt the entire world was against him. The granny didn't speak any of my languages, I didn't speak any of her's. But, she understood I wanted to help. So I quietly stood beside her, and rocked that little baby to sleep, as she helped the toddler feel more in tune with the world. - - - I love holding sleeping babies, but it was even better seeing the look of peace on this frazzled granny's face once both children were calm. We had a lovely moment.

I had to fly alone when my son was only about 3 mo old. I asked the lady next to me if she could hold my son while I went to the bathroom on the plane. I came back and he was asleep on her very large bosom. She left him sleeping there the entire flight! 22 years later and I still remember that lady.

I was in the check-out aisle at our local supermarket and the lady in front of me was struggling to unload her food from the trolley onto the conveyor belt and settle her baby at the same time, so I offered to hold her baby for her, and then me and baby watched all the different food items going past, baby very curious.

The Young Guy Sitting Down Was Struggling With His Tie
The woman in the red coat noticed and asked, "Do you know how to tie it properly?" The young guy said, "No ma'am." She taps her husband and says, "Come to this side [her right side; he was standing on her left side] and teach this young man how to tie his tie."
The older gentleman moved without hesitation [almost a reflex response] and gave him a step-by-step tutorial; then, afterward, the elder gentleman watched the young gentleman repeat the steps and show him that he had it. I was some distance away (but close enough to hear the exchange), and got even closer to snap this candid photo of the tutorial in progress before hopping on the train. I LOVE THIS.

We had to wear ties with our winter uniform in high school. We did the 'cheat' tie, where you wrap it around twice and over and done. I don't know how to do one any other way. (I'm female BTW.)

An elderly and very anxious lady sat next to me on the plane. She wasn't wrong to be nervous. She said that last time she had flown was in the late 1950s when one engine, then the other, conked out and they crashed. She was travelling to see her grandkids for the first time. I held her hand on lift off, touch down, and explained all the strange noises in the air. I thought I was going to lose her for a second when the landing gear made that big 'clump.'

I'd like to extend the same sentiments to Kathy, the French lady who stopped to help my parents, partner and I when my mum blacked out on the metro in Paris. The tour group we were with helped us to get off the train, missing their stop in the process, but Kathy was just passing on the platform with her suitcase on her way back from visiting her son, and stayed with us to call the emergency services, relay information to them, and wait for probably 20 minutes until firemen showed up to get us out of there, speaking to them on our behalf, and making sure we all got safely on our way. Mum and I spent the day in hospital (where everyone spoke much better English than we spoke French), and she was absolutely fine. The kindness of strangers is truly a beautiful thing.

just be careful with it and don't force the cashier to take it. where i used to work, a big box store in the US, any employee who received any kind of "tip or gift" from a customer was fired. had a cashier fired 5 minutes after his mom brought him money for lunch, since it appeared as if she had given him a tip. if they say they cant take it, listen. just a word of caution, since so many American companies are run by people who most of us would barely consider human.

The kids I teach are all very entitled and naughty and constantly lose their pens. They can all afford new pens, but I don't think their parents pay that much attention (explains their constant bids for attention), so every week I just get some pens for like R20-30. Only last for a day or two but more than half of them come to get pens from me. Pencils too. I wish parents would actually look in their kids' things and check how much they have.

This year when there was trick or treating in my village, at the end of the evening a little boy came up and was talking to me. He said that the next day at school he always takes extra candy in for the kids who didn't get as much as he did. I added a very large extra handful to his bucket. Young people can be awesome.

One time my husband lost his phone in the lake. tried everything to find it---magnet fishing, diving with a snorkel, etc could not find it. he spent hours trying to find it, really worried about losing all the pictures on it. other people at the lake caught wind of what he was doing and also tried to find it. Hours later, a couple of boys found it (stepping on it underwater) and the entire lake let us know. We INSISTED on a reward for the boys. without them or the other people at the lake, we would have lost it forever.

My sister and I were on a night rider bus at about 11 one night and well before our stop the driver said it was the last and he was heading back to the depot. We explained the app had said we could get closer to home and the driver offered to take us there even though it would mean he was late finishing work. If he hadn't, I don't know what we would have done. Although I have had one or two issues, the majority of bus drivers are really kind.

I got a flat tire at the start of my first solo road trip when I was 19. I pulled over and was struggling to get my suitcases out of the trunk to get to the spare. A pickup truck full of HUGE Native American young men pulled up. (I live in AZ, I had just entered NM) Started up a conversation and it turns out they knew and had done business with my Dad, who sold building supplies on the Navajo/Hopi reservation. Thankful For This Nomad And His Shy Little Puppy Who Invited Us Into His Yurt For Milk Tea And Naan. Even Though He Has Little, He Didn’t Even Hesitate To Welcome Two Strangers
High in the Pamir Mountains on the China and Pakistan border, as the sun neared retirement, we walked the grasslands, crossed streams, observed livestock, and marveled at the yurts. When we came upon an elderly man tending to his cattle and goats, we asked him, in Chinese, if we could set up a tent just outside his yurt. This poor man seemed confused, so we used charades to draw the scene: folding hands like a tent and resting my head in my hands. The man understood this universal language and motioned us to follow him into his yurt. Apparently he thought we asked him to sleep in his home.
Inside the yurt was his young puppy, ever so shy. The yurt was decorated in many colors, pleasantly warm compared to the outside cold, and smelled of freshly made naan and milk tea. The old man offered us these goodies before we could even sit down. Such a simple yet profound experience.

This happened to me the first (and last) time I rode my bike to high school. I was riding with my brother and the chain came off my bike. Neither of us really knew how to fix it. Another kid came riding past, turned the bike upside down and fixed the chain easily. We thanked him and he just rode away.

One time my best friend, who used to be my next door neighbor and I decided to swap houses. I cleaned her house and she did mine, both houses looked great when we were finished. It made us both feel nice and appreciated for all the work we put in and we did a much better job on each other's houses than we would have done at our own. Made me smile, and tear up a little... good tears. The letter has been held back for a period of time and is not dated, but we are just over 3 years from the stem cell transplant procedure. My mom has gotten to spend several more years with us and my children, and hopefully many more to come. All because of the kindness and caring for humanity from a complete stranger from the other side of the world (we are Canadian).
She was given about 6 months to live just before the donor was found. Thank you, kind stranger. Hopefully, you won't be a stranger for much longer. We will 100% be reaching out.

Took my wife through dairy queen for a cone, the car in front of us at the drive through had a sad little boy in the back. We waved to him, and he was so excited! We were laughing and smiling, dancing to the music on the radio and generally sending out positive thoughts to him, he started smiling and waving back! When we got to the window, they had paid for our cones! +1 to waving to little kids in line!

The Kindness Of Strangers Saved My Family During A Horrible Experience
I never post anything, but I have to share this experience my family and I had today. This picture is of the immigration line entering CUN airport.
Everyone here waited at least 2 hours, many of them waited even longer because nobody knew where the lines were. While deep in this mass of sweaty, angry people, my youngest daughter (1) had a full-on meltdown, leading to her projectile vomiting on her mother. While I could speak at length on the failings of the airport that led to this inhumane situation, I want to focus on what happened next.
In tears and worried about our daughter's health, my wife begged me to do something about the situation, so in a last-ditch effort, I ran to the front of the line and begged someone to let us skip the front. To my surprise, every single person, people who were overheated and angry, told me I could move my family to the front of the line. Complete strangers helped me move all of our luggage and the stroller to the front, allowing us to get our baby girl hydrated and cooled down.
These kind strangers all chose to do the right thing even at their own expense, and I will be forever grateful to them. They made me smile, but more importantly, they made me hopeful.

Similar experience in San Fran, although we didn't even have a vomiting baby. Friend and I are trying to make our connecting flight to Hawaii, but we're delayed and the line is soooo long, like a couple of hours and we only have an hour or less to our flight. The huge kindness of a lovely New Zealander in front of us where the massive line looped back around let us cut in and knocked an hour off our wait. We made the flight.

I was sitting outside in the sun. Texted my brother who I shared the house with, telling him that he should come outside as it was lovely in the sunshine. Received no response. Went to check on him a while later as the sun set. Colin had passed on his bed. Semi-cold already. He probably ascended as I sent the earlier message. RIP Colin. Run and dance in heavenly sunshine. 💜

You don't know why it was left there! Maybe it wasn't raining when they got there? Or this dog belongs to a person experiencing homelessness? Or even to a person who can't leave the dog alone at home (for whatever reason) but had to go out to the store that doesn't allow dogs inside? It's easy to judge. Be more like the people in the photo - help out instead.

This is so cute. My dog loves the rain (and frolicking in it!), but I wouldn't leave him outside on his own in a torrential downpour. The tail between the dogs legs, show he was sad, well done those brolly angels.

They might also be afraid - of being alone, of the rain, of the strangers so close to them... There's many reasons for a dog to tuck in it's tail. What's important, is the nice gesture of sheltering the dog from the rain.

A Stranger Helps A Fellow Passenger Through An In-Flight Panic Attack
On a flight into NYC today. On the left of the aisle was a young woman. On the other side of the aisle is an older guy. They were traveling separately. We hit some turbulence coming into land, and the young woman started to have a full-blown panic attack.
The man reached across the aisle, tapped her gently on the shoulder, and asked if she was ok. She turned to him and grabbed his hand so tightly, tears streaming down her face. She said, "I can't do this," and he calmly said, "We're going to be fine. You'll see."
The man just let her grip his hand all the way until we landed. She calmed down, and once we landed, grabbed his hand with both of hers and said thank you. In a country where it feels pretty divided, this was just a wonderful moment to witness.

A Lady Donated Around 25k Of Cat Food To Help Me Feed A Colony Of Cats
Honestly, feeding 8 cats plus another 2 that came from outside the colony and already having pets at home, feeding them long-term wasn’t really in my budget, even though I was buying an economic pack. A bag of 1k lasted me two days.
So I asked in a community app if someone would like to help me feed them or have food laying around that could donate. Two ladies responded to me. One had leftovers due to her cat passing away due to renal failure(rest in peace), and another lady said that she was given the food and gave it to me. A total angel.
The food will last me more than a month, and I’ll use that time to save money to continue feeding the cats. I’m just so happy, and these acts of kindness fill my heart with hope. And because of that, another time, three people donated beds they don’t spend as much time on the street, which is good. Honestly, they are my free therapy.

I don't know if this happens in every corner of the globe, but if you have a cat basket that your cat has outgrown, or some food they didn't like, or some spare toys, ask your vet if they have any use for them. Our vet is doing a "Christmas Drive" at the moment, they will accept (almost!) anything and give it out to animal sanctuaries so that nothing is wasted.

Having A Bad Time And A Stranger Gave Me This And Now I’m Crying Even More Than I Already Was
So I was at lunch with my family and it wasn’t going well so I got up and left because I needed to just not be there for a bit. I was sitting on a stone wall, and there was a landscaper nearby that saw me and asked if I was okay. A few minutes later he came over and handed me this and said he didn’t speak much English but wrote his number on the back if I wanted to talk to someone. I’m having a pretty bad afternoon, and this is one of the nicest things someone has done for me in a very long time. I’m not even religious at all, but just the fact that he cared enough about a stranger to do this was just very heartwarming, especially when I was just not having a good time.

When I was homeless, I stole a sandwich from a small store. The owner caught me, I told him I was homeless and started to cry as I had no money for food and he told me that I could work it off by stocking shelves, sweepeing, whatever. I did and he fed me. I cam in every day, worked for about an hour and he would pay me in food and smokes on the condition I told no one. I never did and he was always kind.

I really enjoy reading uplifting posts, it really does restore my faith in humanity. Years ago when I was stopped at a Motorway cafe, I found a wallet in the Ladies room. I picked it up and found contact details for the owner and returned it the next day. A couple of years later my daughter lost her wallet in a railway station, she was upset and crying and didn't think she would see it again. Her phone rang at the moment and a kind lady had found it and wished to return it, my daughter was overjoyed and wanted to give her some money, but the lady wouldn't accept it. More recently I was with a friend who lost her phone when we were in a Park, she was devastated, I told her I would keep calling it in the hope someone would answer, a lady did so and returned it, my friend also wanted to reward her but the lady was happy the phone got back to its owner. It is such a good feeling when people do kind things.
