Today We Did This Lady's Yard
She was telling us how the man next door was charging her to cut her yard, and she could not afford it because she is on a fix income and just came out of the hospital. She also said how he harasses her for the payment. But she need not worry no more because Raising Men Lawn Care Service will be doing her lawn for FREE, just like how we do the rest of the lawns, and will get her lawn done every two weeks. She can use the money on things that she really needs, like medication. We are making a difference.
Good for them, although it's sad that anyone has to worry about paying for medication they need. But these two guys are heroes!
These guys have vids on YouTube and are extraordinarily inspiring. The kind of people that monetizing YouTube SHOULD support.
It galls me that people in such need still have to pay for medication. It just shouldn't be a thing.
Of the 23 to economies, only 22 have been able to figure out universal health care. And now the Orange One is cutting all sorts of insurance programs.

Why is no one mentioning the exploitative harassing neighbor? The guess about medication is nothing, when they are preventing emotional and financial stress.
Be More Like Abdul
And a smart one to boot - he knew how to find the real owner by making him enter the lock code
Load More Replies...Had something similar that turned sour - at 19 lived with the parents in a rowhouse. Late at night heard someone in the backyard two teens (15ish) were slipping in to steal our bike. I ran out and chased them away and they dropped a bike they must have swiped elsewhere. Put out word to the local moms about what had happened and that we had a bike with a lock wrapped around it - the owner could come by at any time, unlock the padlock that was just wrapped around the seat, and have their bike back. Woman came in, said it was her kids but she didn't have the key and just sort of bullied past my request for to unlock the padlock. I didn't want to keep the bike if it was hers - but I honestly don't think it was and she just sort of stole the bike by claiming ownership. Also, not a single thank you the whole time. Still salty.
These stories just make me imagine the world that really could be... If only people followed The Golden Rule.
I've read this story a million times and I still love it! Amazing he was not only brave enough to confront the thief but nice enough to keep the bike safe and wait for the owner.
Do The Same Thing And We Can Be A Better Society
One time my kid (circa 3yr) saw an op shop when we got off the bus. I only had 10c, so we were looking through the magazines for a car or truck one (his big obsession at the time). A lady spotted us, chatted to us etc, kid showed her his shiny 10c coin (lol🫣), she went out the back and brought through a stuffed Superman who she said was 10c, and he needed a good home if kid is interested. Yes he was!! Never forgot that moment: she gave my son a lovely experience and gift, and without shaming me for being so poor back then.
This reminds me of a story I saw about a dog who noticed that humans were exchanging bits of paper for baked goodies. So he started bringing in a leaf to "pay" for a goodie. The bakery started making dog-friendly treats just for him.
And there isn't an Irish person who would criticise you for that; the Irish & Scottish are the most welcoming people on the planet
The warm fuzzies just came over my entire body as I reread this post too many times. Lovely.
It’s no secret that being bombarded with negative headlines can really weigh on your mood. Whether it’s natural disasters, or the latest pandemic numbers, constantly taking in bad news can make anyone feel anxious, drained, and a little hopeless. Research shows that the more we expose ourselves to upsetting news, on TV, social media, or even newspapers, the more it can slowly chip away at our mental wellbeing.
The brain reacts to constant stress, and even small doses of worry can build up over time. That’s why mental health experts often suggest stepping back, taking a break, and letting yourself breathe. It’s not ignoring reality, it’s protecting your mind from emotional overload.
How To Manage A Bar
At the pub I used to work at we would hold drinks behind the bar while the customer was using the toilet or going outside to smoke. We would write the customer's name on a beer mat and put it over the drink.
On one hand this is lovey, on the other hand we should be angry, that this is necessary. This should not be necessary!

Load More Replies...World need more of such stories to regain balance. People are good. People are decent, but what stays in memory is unfairness and violence. All those tiny everyday interactions when regular people are decent to each other are easily overshadowed by the one instance of someone being a true jerk. Most people are good, most deeds are good, most attention goes to unusual acts of shittines, because they're unusual thus interesting. Everyday kindness is boring. It's there, but it's just not worth the attention that being a jerk gets. Shame, most people are so decent!
Thank You Librarian
I work in a restaurant and one day, I had a teenage girl and her father at my table. All of a sudden, I hear her say, "Daddy! Daddy, wake up!" So I rush over, and she is crying while I am trying to see if the dad is okay. He had passed out and his head was on the table. She told me that she needed to call her sister if anything ever happened, which she proceeded to do and handed the phone over to me. It turns out the teenage girl was mentally challenged and was taught to call her sister should anything ever happened. She was so brave, so calm and collected. I was in awe. I don't think I would have been as calm as her if my dad had passed out like that.
The dad ended up being okay? Hoping for all involved.

Never in all my life I ever felt so flattered and proud to be me. I have heard this same thing from a couple of people who were told that by their moms.
My favouritest place is ambling alone along a track in a leafy forest with a gentle drizzle. My second favouritest place is a quiet corner of a well stocked library. Special shout out to Woking library that, back in the late 90s, let me be a member even though I wasn't in their catchment area. I cried when the whole internet thing took off (around 2000) and they had to start getting rid of their book stocks to make room for desks of computers.
Wow, must be nice to have libraries like that. 20 years old and checking out a pile of books on WW2 at my local small-town library, got questioned as to why I was reading that sort of thing and that I'd ''be learning some terrible things''. Yeah thanks Gwen; maternal grandparents lived through it and I had been hearing about it ever since I was a little kid. Intellectual curiosity is a negative thing to some people apparently. I returned all my books on the spot and I haven't set foot in that ''library'' since. This happened in the year 2000.
One study conducted in the spring of 2020 surveyed over 2,200 adults to understand how constant news consumption impacted emotions. The findings were clear: people who frequently sought updates about the pandemic, were far more likely to report feelings of stress, anxiety, and emotional exhaustion.
This highlights a simple truth: information overload can hurt us just as much as actual bad events. It’s not that knowing less is better, but balancing the news you consume and limiting your exposure can significantly reduce stress. The study proves that even a little pause from the endless cycle of negative updates can help you reclaim your peace of mind.
Before And After Photos From Donating My Hair To Angel Hair For Kids, Where They Make Wigs For Kids Battling Cancer
My friend (who also donated his hair) and I have also raised over $8,000 for the Canadian Cancer Society.
We have a similar program where I live called "Locks for Love". As a former (now incognito) metal head, I would grow it out and get a free hair cut ever few years and feel like I was actually making some kind of contribution. It's just hair, but I know it had to make a difference to someone out there.
I hate to be a Debbie Downer, especially because these people mean so.well, but many of these large organizations (in the US at least) actually charge cancer patients thousands of dollars. Look for smaller, local channels so you can really help them.
Some good info from my Ai overview: AI Overview Some large charities provide free wigs to cancer patients, while others offer them at a low cost or work to get the cost covered by insurance. The specific policies depend on the organization and the patient's financial situation. Charities Offering Free Wigs Several organizations are dedicated to providing wigs at no cost to patients experiencing hair loss due to cancer treatment: American Cancer Society (ACS): The ACS offers free wigs to cancer patients, though recipients typically need to demonstrate financial need and suffer from treatment-related hair loss. Local chapters have "Gift Closets" where patients can find free wigs, and some salons partner with the ACS to provide free fitting and styling services. EBeauty: This nonprofit collects, refurbishes, and donates wigs free of charge to women in need through its online Wig Exchange Program.

I’ve been donating mine every two years since I was a kid!! Next cut is this February! Highly recommend—it’s super easy and costs you nothing! If you’re looking for good programs, I recommend Children with Hair Loss! Locks of Love and other similar big names are careless with the hair and additionally charge patients for them. Children with Hair Loss is one of the good ones!!!
He saved up for (I think) about 5 years and spent some of his dignity for helping children ;-; this is so sweet

But it’s not all doom and gloom. For every distressing headline, there are stories that restore faith in humanity and remind us that kindness still exists in abundance. Take Harsh Mandavia, for example, co-owner of Harsh Thali and Parathas in Mumbai. Along with his mother, he runs a small eatery serving delicious, homemade food to locals and visitors alike. What began as a humble business for survival soon transformed into something extraordinary.
During the pandemic, they served nearly 15,000 free meals to people in need, from struggling families to elderly individuals who had no one else to rely on. Their small act of generosity quickly turned into a lifeline for many, proving that human compassion can thrive even in the toughest times.
This Guy Was Outside Of Walmart Tonight. He Is Awesome. He Even Took The Time To Show Me How To Adjust The Telescope So That I Could See The Rings
He wanted to share the wonders of space and was willing to put up with parking lot floodlights to do it. A round of applause for this most devoted of amateurs.
Good people exist everywhere. The challenge is to filter out the bad people since they are always the loudest
I live near an observatory, and any time there's a public community event like a farmer's market or the county fair or whatever, the staff brings down a telescope like that one for the public to view the heavens. If it's a daytime event, they bring a special filter so people can view the sun, and if it's night, they point it at something cool (like whatever planet is most visible or in the direction of a current meteor shower or whatever).
Are you near the Lowell observatory? I've been to that one and it sounds like something they would do.

Holy f**k, that's SATURN? Yeah, this guy is right to be showing Saturn. The first time you see it, for real and not just a photo in a book, it's 🤯. And this is why representation is important in entertainment, but done properly, not with cheap race swapping, but with whole unique characters like Miles, that bring something new to the table
With you on the pointless (and sometimes outright nonsensical) race-swapping thing. A friend of mine says that if you want more diverse casts in the movies, you should adapt more diverse stories. After all, African folklore for example is full of tales Disney could easily bring to the big screen. As for representation in general, when Todd came out as asexual in BoJack Horseman, I burst into tears. Never, not once in my life, had I ever seen any character in fiction who was openly asexual like myself. Being acknowledged like that was one of the best feelings in the world.

Representation matters. S****y movies are s****y not because incorporating diverse characters made them s****y , they were s****y to begin with, but the authors believed, that incorporating divers characters will be enough to overlook their shittishness. Well it wasn't and those bloody mercantile attempts to make money give ammunition to mum's basement based right wing morons, who claim, that diversity k****d (input whatever). No, it did not, greed did.
F**k, I will develop the subject further. I am old. I mean staying in the closed means life or death old. Each time I encounter a gender/sexuality non-conforming character it makes me giddy. Not even only lesbians, I am thrilled to see gays portrayed in media. Or trans people (me being cis). You'd thing, that after all this time of homosexuality being decriminalised it wouldn,t matter. Well the changes are not as thorough as one not involved might think. Representation really matters, not only for kids developing their gender and sexual identity.

Lady Came Into The Hospital With Her Sleeping Baby & Was Struggling Between Holding Her Baby & Filling Out Paperwork When
This kind soul asked her if she would like him to hold her baby while she filled out her information. He rocked the baby as if he was his own. Faith in humanity restored.
I did a similar thing. A granny was struggling with a crying baby, and a toddler who felt the entire world was against him. The granny didn't speak any of my languages, I didn't speak any of her's. But, she understood I wanted to help. So I quietly stood beside her, and rocked that little baby to sleep, as she helped the toddler feel more in tune with the world. - - - I love holding sleeping babies, but it was even better seeing the look of peace on this frazzled granny's face once both children were calm. We had a lovely moment.
I had to fly alone when my son was only about 3 mo old. I asked the lady next to me if she could hold my son while I went to the bathroom on the plane. I came back and he was asleep on her very large bosom. She left him sleeping there the entire flight! 22 years later and I still remember that lady.
I was in the check-out aisle at our local supermarket and the lady in front of me was struggling to unload her food from the trolley onto the conveyor belt and settle her baby at the same time, so I offered to hold her baby for her, and then me and baby watched all the different food items going past, baby very curious.
I wish I could do this all day. For free. Frustrated Grandma here, my babies all live so far away.
Perhaps you could volunteer in a daycare or hospital nursery? I know there would be background checks, but it would be so rewarding.

The Young Guy Sitting Down Was Struggling With His Tie
The woman in the red coat noticed and asked, "Do you know how to tie it properly?" The young guy said, "No ma'am." She taps her husband and says, "Come to this side [her right side; he was standing on her left side] and teach this young man how to tie his tie."
The older gentleman moved without hesitation [almost a reflex response] and gave him a step-by-step tutorial; then, afterward, the elder gentleman watched the young gentleman repeat the steps and show him that he had it. I was some distance away (but close enough to hear the exchange), and got even closer to snap this candid photo of the tutorial in progress before hopping on the train. I LOVE THIS.
I tied the men's ties every Sunday at the nursing home, but because I can only tie them on myself, I'd slip it off my head and over theirs. They found that hilarious for some reason.

So many youngsters are left without the role models necessary to mold us as individuals. Even the smallest gesture, lesson, "Atta Boy" is a building block of another's life.
I remember teaching both my boys how to tie a proper Windsor Knot. It was the one practical skill I learned in the girls' boarding school I attended.
We had to wear ties with our winter uniform in high school. We did the 'cheat' tie, where you wrap it around twice and over and done. I don't know how to do one any other way. (I'm female BTW.)
“Eventually, we were able to deliver over 40,000 rotis to hungry families in the outskirts of Mumbai,” Harsh says proudly. “Donations and support poured in from people across the world. It was overwhelming and heartwarming at the same time. The community’s generosity allowed us to continue feeding people even when times were toughest. The gratitude and smiles we received made every challenge worth it. It proved that when people come together, even small efforts can grow into something extraordinary.”
Harsh concludes with a warm smile, “You don’t have to be rich or famous to make a difference. Caring matters more than wealth. A small act of kindness, a simple meal, a helping hand, or even a smile, can change someone’s entire day, or even their life. That’s the magic of human compassion.” His story is a reminder that giving doesn’t have to be monumental. Every little act counts, and when combined with effort, generosity, and persistence, it can create something truly transformative.
This Woman Was So Nervous About Flying, So A Flight Attendant Explained Every Sound And Bump, And Even Sat Here Holding Her Hand
An elderly and very anxious lady sat next to me on the plane. She wasn't wrong to be nervous. I'd like to extend the same sentiments to Kathy, the French lady who stopped to help my parents, partner and I when my mum blacked out on the metro in Paris. The tour group we were with helped us to get off the train, missing their stop in the process, but Kathy was just passing on the platform with her suitcase on her way back from visiting her son, and stayed with us to call the emergency services, relay information to them, and wait for probably 20 minutes until firemen showed up to get us out of there, speaking to them on our behalf, and making sure we all got safely on our way. Mum and I spent the day in hospital (where everyone spoke much better English than we spoke French), and she was absolutely fine. The kindness of strangers is truly a beautiful thing.

just be careful with it and don't force the cashier to take it. where i used to work, a big box store in the US, any employee who received any kind of "tip or gift" from a customer was fired. had a cashier fired 5 minutes after his mom brought him money for lunch, since it appeared as if she had given him a tip. if they say they cant take it, listen. just a word of caution, since so many American companies are run by people who most of us would barely consider human.

They can all afford new pens, but I don't think their parents pay that much attention (explains their constant bids for attention), so every week I just get some pens for like R20-30. Only last for a day or two but more than half of them come to get pens from me. Pencils too. I wish parents would actually look in their kids' things and check how much they have.

I Lost My Wallet. These Boys Found It And Wouldn't Accept Any Reward. People Are Good
This year when there was trick or treating in my village, at the end of the evening a little boy came up and was talking to me. He said that the next day at school he always takes extra candy in for the kids who didn't get as much as he did. I added a very large extra handful to his bucket. Young people can be awesome.
One time my husband lost his phone in the lake. tried everything to find it---magnet fishing, diving with a snorkel, etc could not find it. he spent hours trying to find it, really worried about losing all the pictures on it. other people at the lake caught wind of what he was doing and also tried to find it. Hours later, a couple of boys found it (stepping on it underwater) and the entire lake let us know. We INSISTED on a reward for the boys. without them or the other people at the lake, we would have lost it forever.
My son made a rookie mistake and put his wallet on the dash of his boat. Yep, it flew out. A few days late, it was found and returned. Somehow, the c****m that I always insisted he carry had inflated.😅 His friends started carrying condoms as I had always suggested.

I Got A Flat, And Although My BF Was On The Phone Trying To Help, I Was Struggling To Loosen The Lug Nuts
Then these guys came up. They spoke limited English but gestured toward the tire. They put my spare on, and I was back on the road in no time. I thanked them and tried to offer them $ to no avail.
I got a flat tire at the start of my first solo road trip when I was 19. I pulled over and was struggling to get my suitcases out of the trunk to get to the spare. A pickup truck full of HUGE Native American young men pulled up. (I live in AZ, I had just entered NM) Started up a conversation and it turns out they knew and had done business with my Dad, who sold building supplies on the Navajo/Hopi reservation. They did all the work, tucked me back into my little Coronet, and said "You tell TK the Bedoni boys said hi!"

Thankful For This Nomad And His Shy Little Puppy Who Invited Us Into His Yurt For Milk Tea And Naan. Even Though He Has Little, He Didn’t Even Hesitate To Welcome Two Strangers
High in the Pamir Mountains on the China and Pakistan border, as the sun neared retirement, we walked the grasslands, crossed streams, observed livestock, and marveled at the yurts. When we came upon an elderly man tending to his cattle and goats, we asked him, in Chinese, if we could set up a tent just outside his yurt. This poor man seemed confused, so we used charades to draw the scene: folding hands like a tent and resting my head in my hands. The man understood this universal language and motioned us to follow him into his yurt. Apparently he thought we asked him to sleep in his home.
Inside the yurt was his young puppy, ever so shy. The yurt was decorated in many colors, pleasantly warm compared to the outside cold, and smelled of freshly made naan and milk tea. The old man offered us these goodies before we could even sit down. Such a simple yet profound experience.
It often is the people with the least who reach out to share what little they have.

I'm an extreme cleaner in New York, and I help others with free cleaning. They have mental or physical issues. Please don't judge. She is super nice, and she left $50 on the countertop every day.
I wish I was physically able to do this. Funny thing... I have always enjoyed cleaning the homes of friends and relatives "just because", at the expense of the upkeep on my own abode.
One time my best friend, who used to be my next door neighbor and I decided to swap houses. I cleaned her house and she did mine, both houses looked great when we were finished. It made us both feel nice and appreciated for all the work we put in and we did a much better job on each other's houses than we would have done at our own. Thanks for triggering this good memory, sadly my best friend of 25 years passed away at the end of January 2025 and I miss her. Remembering this put a smile on my face, though. 😊

A Random Stranger From Germany Saved My Mom's Life A Few Years Ago. Yesterday My Mom Received This
Made me smile, and tear up a little... good tears. The letter has been held back for a period of time and is not dated, but we are just over 3 years from the stem cell transplant procedure. My mom has gotten to spend several more years with us and my children, and hopefully many more to come. All because of the kindness and caring for humanity from a complete stranger from the other side of the world (we are Canadian).
She was given about 6 months to live just before the donor was found. Thank you, kind stranger. Hopefully, you won't be a stranger for much longer. We will 100% be reaching out.

The Kindness Of Strangers Saved My Family During A Horrible Experience
I never post anything, but I have to share this experience my family and I had today. This picture is of the immigration line entering CUN airport.
Everyone here waited at least 2 hours, many of them waited even longer because nobody knew where the lines were. While deep in this mass of sweaty, angry people, my youngest daughter (1) had a full-on meltdown, leading to her projectile vomiting on her mother. While I could speak at length on the failings of the airport that led to this inhumane situation, I want to focus on what happened next.
In tears and worried about our daughter's health, my wife begged me to do something about the situation, so in a last-ditch effort, I ran to the front of the line and begged someone to let us skip the front. To my surprise, every single person, people who were overheated and angry, told me I could move my family to the front of the line. Complete strangers helped me move all of our luggage and the stroller to the front, allowing us to get our baby girl hydrated and cooled down.
These kind strangers all chose to do the right thing even at their own expense, and I will be forever grateful to them. They made me smile, but more importantly, they made me hopeful.
Similar experience in San Fran, although we didn't even have a vomiting baby. Friend and I are trying to make our connecting flight to Hawaii, but we're delayed and the line is soooo long, like a couple of hours and we only have an hour or less to our flight. The huge kindness of a lovely New Zealander in front of us where the massive line looped back around let us cut in and knocked an hour off our wait. We made the flight.

I was going through a really rough day and decided to text my best friend's number. He passed in 2021. Needless to say, I was incredibly humbled and grateful for this stranger.

I was sitting outside in the sun. Texted my brother who I shared the house with, telling him that he should come outside as it was lovely in the sunshine. Received no response. Went to check on him a while later as the sun set. Colin had passed on his bed. Semi-cold already. He probably ascended as I sent the earlier message. RIP Colin. Run and dance in heavenly sunshine. 💜

On a flight into NYC today. On the left of the aisle was a young woman. On the other side of the aisle is an older guy. They were traveling separately. We hit some turbulence coming into land, and the young woman started to have a full-blown panic attack.
The man reached across the aisle, tapped her gently on the shoulder, and asked if she was ok. She turned to him and grabbed his hand so tightly, tears streaming down her face. She said, "I can't do this," and he calmly said, "We're going to be fine. You'll see."

A Lady Donated Around 25k Of Cat Food To Help Me Feed A Colony Of Cats
Honestly, feeding 8 cats plus another 2 that came from outside the colony and already having pets at home, feeding them long-term wasn’t really in my budget, even though I was buying an economic pack. A bag of 1k lasted me two days.
So I asked in a community app if someone would like to help me feed them or have food laying around that could donate. Two ladies responded to me. One had leftovers due to her cat passing away due to renal failure(rest in peace), and another lady said that she was given the food and gave it to me. A total angel.
The food will last me more than a month, and I’ll use that time to save money to continue feeding the cats. I’m just so happy, and these acts of kindness fill my heart with hope. And because of that, another time, three people donated beds they don’t spend as much time on the street, which is good. Honestly, they are my free therapy.
