The Best Boy

The Best Boy

erinmarie093 Report

Science claims that a companion animal can be an excellent solution to many psychological problems. You can call it the pet effect. How does it work? To find out, Bored Panda spoke to Antonio Diaz, a certified and professional K-9 trainer and dog behavioral specialist based in Las Vegas, about the health benefits of having an adorable dog in your life.

“Dogs give people a reason to keep living. My German Shepherd, Brooklyn, literally helped me get through depression after a bad motorcycle accident in 2012 and she is the reason I found my passion and I am doing what I love. Dogs can be extremely affectionate towards humans and they also have the ability to read our body language much better than we (most people) can read theirs."

Studies have shown that dogs can make people happier, lower blood pressure, lower heart rates, and help to release serotonin and other 'feel good' hormones in the brain. Dogs can literally help you live longer! Moreover, “Dogs are used in courtrooms to help victims of sexual and violent crimes speak during their testimony. They are used to help children build confidence in reading and also used to bring happiness to the elderly.”

But these smart dogs, just like us, have different characters too, right? Antonio confirms: “Some dogs are more independent and like more space, therefore may not pay enough attention to their owner to understand them. These dogs would be less likely to read or understand their human counterparts. I believe that is dependent on the strength of the bond and relationship between a person and their dog. The more time you spend with your dog and the more emotional states they witness, the better they can understand you. With all that said, dogs are master observers and probably know more about us than we think.”

Homeless Man Goes To The Hospital, His Dog Friends Patiently Wait By The Door

Froma Walsh, a Professor Emerita from the University of Chicago's Department of Psychiatry, claims that our ancestors already knew about the importance of the human–animal bond. “In ancient times and in cultures worldwide, animals have been respected as essential partners in human survival, health and healing. Many spiritual traditions have honored the relationships of people to animal forms of life.” In fact, “Dogs were considered such loyal companions during life that they were revered as guides in the afterlife. When a pet dog died, the owners shaved off their eyebrows, smeared mud in their hair, and mourned aloud for days.”

This one is just obnoxiously judgemental. The dog is probably happy to have the chance to walk to the post office, and they probably live in a small town where people don’t steal dogs. I grew up in a town like that and usually the window is facing the street so you can keep an eye on your dog. Most dogs are very cold-resistant, and sitting outside for 10 minutes in the cold doesn’t bother them. Especially after a nice walk in town. The leash is short so the dog doesn’t jump on passerbys or get out into the road. Dogs enjoy being part of your life. They are much more miserable being stuck at home, bored, feeling like their day is full of nothing but laying around. They like being able to go places and do things. It would be nice for the dog to have a sweater, maybe, but some dogs overheat quickly when they’re walking and don’t appreciate the restriction of movement. The dogs owner is probably so humiliated that dog won’t be allowed to walk to the post office anymore.nice

I couldn't do that to a dog. He has no room to move. Why not just leave dog home while running errands? I'm glad she gave him a coat, but I'd be scared someone would take him or be mean to him.

I definitely wouldn't leave my dogs tied up outside shops in case they were stolen but maybe she lives somewhere known to be very safe and everyone knows each other? Maybe she was going to be out and about doing things for a few hours and this felt the better option as at least the dog was with her for most of it. 🤞

I take my dogs everywhere but not in the cold nor heat. I make sure to never ever leave them alone. I go to places that I can take them with me inside or either my hubby or I stay with them in the car. If not, they're staying home.

There are some places are ok to bring your pets and some are not. It's a part of judgment of the owner and circumstances their in. In this case the owner showed understanding/responsibility for bringing a pet with them to a public place. Yet, he/she took EVERY steps to take care of the pet as much as possible . For that person, this dog is like a child. Being responsible, understanding of your surroundings, and being sensible to your pet to this extent, shows GREAT moral maturity of that person. Double Hands Up!!! Whoever you are, Please Don't stop to act like your kind heart and educated mind tells you to!

Actually makes a lot of sense. She'll be in a warm place if she has to wait a long time on line. The dog won't be.

I would probably do the same. My animals always come first. But better yet, buy him his own doggie coat.... or leave him home in the warm house.

I’ve seen this same scene, but with a homeless young man and his dog. It was 14 degrees outside. The man took off his coat and put it on his dog before entering the store. The dog stayed faithfully put. He was not tied up.

Now that’s a good dog parent. If you don’t have Doggy’s own coat handy, use your own.

Someone should strap the owner to the tree and leave them there.

Have you not seen the "no dogs allowed" on literally every single public building ever? Dog could just wander away like a kid would if left to do whatever. She gave the dog her coat and tied it up (like putting a kid in a stroller and strapping them in) so it wouldn't wander into the street and get killed (dogs don't quite get cars)
