My dog is a lab-pit mix whose big head kind of gives him away. When we moved to Canada, the vet hinted strongly to my parents not to mention the pitt part of our dog becuase they had such a bad name. The dude is so gentle he can eat off a plastic spoon without breaking it. A delightful ANGEL.

I have two German Shepherd rescues. They, also, would protect me with their lives. Good to know since I am a 73 year old widow. Dogs are the best protection you can own. You can't turn them off!

My pitties are total snuggle bugs, but dog forbid if someone tried to hurt me! Especially my male Hero, he's a mama's boy. All 4 (an akita and giant schnauzer also) are rescues and the best decision

Rescues/shelter animals are the ONLY way to go, in my opinion. They love you like nothing else. It's as if they know how lucky they are. And you are rewarded every single day for one small good deed.

One of my favorite dogs on the planet is a beautiful Pittie baby named Marley Boy. We dog sat for a while and I took him to the dog park and the other owners left immediately. Marley was just standing there, brokenhearted that he didn't have anyone to play with anymore :( He looks like your boys!!
Pit Bulls are so over-hyped. It's the owner, not the dog. My daughter had 2 Pits when she had my granddaughter - gotta admit, I was a little nervous. Until I got to know the dogs. Sweetest, gentlest creatures on the planet - unless you try to mess with "their" baby!

The only person our rescued pit mix ever even growled at was a man we found out was stealing from my parents. I'll trust her judgment over a human's any day.
I'm curious...what is a "Spanish" rescue? I've never heard that before. I've known pitties and rotties that are great protectors, but also real love bugs when the owners say "it's okay." If I weren't so old (not good for needed exercise), I would get one when my current small love bug passes. I've heard about several incidents where both breeds stepped up to the plater to protect their homes.

Pibbles are my favorite breed. I've never met a mean one. They are all snuggle bugs. I remember coming home late and stumbling with beer one night. Cassidy, my pibble, was growling at the top of the stairs. She sounded like a bear. I was so proud of my scardy cat. I said "Aw. you sound so viscous. good girrrl." She immediately whimpered in relief and scampered down the stairs like "oh, mama. I was so scared because I didn't know who it was!" Gosh, I miss her. May all breed-specific laws go the way of the dinosaur so that more kind homeowners can rescue these gorgeous dogs.
Pitfalls aren't bad dogs, they just have a bad name because bad people like them. Hell, the Nazi's loved German Sheppards, but they're not bad dogs.
Hope those A- holes got & or get found & arrested asap because bad people don't stop doing their "chosen profession's" & I fear for other "potential victims" like yourself who don't have Beautiful doggie guardian angels to keep them from harm too! A German Shepherd Called Capitán Has Slept Next To The Grave Of His Owner Every Night At 6pm For 6 Years (2006-2012)
His owner, Miguel Guzmán died in 2006. Capitán, the dog, disappeared while the family attended the fueral services. A week later reatives of Guzmán were visiting the cemetery when they were astounded to find the dog next to the owner's grave.

This is a picture of my dog Shilo (the Border Collie) Rua the brown dog and Toby the white dog. Rua and Toby belong to my neighbours but all three are the best of friends and always have great fun running around and playing with each other despite Shilo being nearly twice the height of them. In fact one of their favourite games is that Rua and Toby will chase each other and run underneath Shilo when chasing each other while Shilo just stands there laughing at them.
