If You Think People Are The Worst These Days, These 40 Wholesome Pics May Change Your Mind
It's tough to stay positive when coronavirus deaths top 10,000 globally and entire nations go on lockdown. And in the midst of the fear and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, each day seems to bring news that's worse than the day before. However, as in most major disasters, tragedies, and public health threats, there are reasons for a better future.
So, even though it's difficult to be the “it could always be worse” type of person during these difficult times, let's try. After all, what other options do we have? Bored Panda has compiled a list of good news about COVID-19 to complement the ones we already have, so scroll down and check 'em out!

These Are Epic Times
It's worth mentioning that most people with COVID-19 recover. Current estimates suggest that 99% of people infected will beat it. Some people even don't experience any of the symptoms at all. Yes, thousands have died, but the overall death rate is about 1% (or perhaps even lower), far less than MERS (about 34%), SARS (about 11%), or Ebola (90%), though a lot higher than the average seasonal flu (0.1%). Condolences to all the lives lost to this illness, and we should expect many more cases, but if we were to isolate the fatality rates, it could be far worse.
Leadership Indeed
Also, scientists have found out how the novel coronavirus breaks into human cells. This will significantly help to develop treatments. It began when researchers revealed the first picture of how the novel coronavirus binds with human respiratory cells to produce more viruses. The scientists in China then solidified the images all the way down to the level of the atoms at the binding points. With this news, understanding how the virus enters cells will significantly aid researchers in finding drugs and vaccines to fight the virus.
A good example of this also comes from China where local medical authorities reported that a drug used in Japan to treat new strains of influenza appeared to be effective in coronavirus patients. Zhang Xinmin, an official at China's science and technology ministry, said favipiravir, developed by a subsidiary of Fujifilm, had produced promising results in clinical trials in Wuhan and Shenzhen involving 340 patients.

Next, humanity's response to future pandemics should improve. "The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed shortcomings in healthcare systems throughout the world that provide an opportunity to improve them," Robert H. Shmerling, MD, wrote in the Harvard Health Blog. "For example, a faster global response, better and quicker distribution of testing kits, and more coordinated and coherent public messaging should be expected the next time around. (No guarantees, of course.)"
The new coronavirus epidemic is a huge problem that's probably only gonna get bigger in the following weeks and months. For those who are infected and those trying to avoid infection, these are definitely tough times. But, as Shmerling put it, "Amid all the doom and gloom, there are some positive stories, positive messages and reasons to remain hopeful."

And lo and behold, apparently the people producing toilet paper are on that list too.
There are no people producing toilet paper..it's a mechanized and runs 24 hours. That's the only reason why stores keep getting shipments.
Load More Replies...many of whom make minimum wage but by all means let’s keep paying CEOs mega bucks.
Damn cashiers have such a hard job too. I did it for a couple of years- I wasn't a very good one either. :) Most of it was silently thinking "please don't yell at me" and "damn my feet hurt".
the law enforcement to include police and correctional staff, the fire department, the military....
It's the folks on TV and radio and all their backup folks who keep us informed. It's the fire department, the police officers, and the EMA. It's the governments and bureaucrats who are trying to organize so very many details too numerous to mention. It's the scientists who are working to find a vaccination. It's even Amazon that is hiring 100,000 people to keep up with orders but helping laid off workers at the same time. It's the car companies volunteering to retool factories to manufacture key medical supplies.. Not all folks are front line but where would we be without all these other folks backing them up.
We could last a lot, lot longer without obscenely overpaid actors, athletes, CEOs and hedge fund managers than we could with woefully underpaid cops, firefighters, bus drivers, teachers, etc.
Load More Replies...Yep. My dad worked grocery his entire life and taught us that you’ll always have a job in grocery
And the only one of those that is paid a decent wage is the doctor. And even then, he/she is charged outrageous sums to insurance - at least here in the US. Ridiculous
not necessarily....malpractise insurance premiums elevate annually... -Dr M
Load More Replies...And us Pharmacy staff are now probably the closest you can get to seeing a medical professional outside a hospital as GP surgeries are closed to face to face appointments, they are all being done over the phone(UK) x
And the cleaners! I recently started working housekeeping and my coworkers are working like crazy to make sure everything is clean to help keep everyone safe.
I'm a cop. I get extra shifts because people don't seem to understand the importance of a lockdown... Bars and restaurants secretly opened, curtains closed. Students organizing drinking parties. Because of this, I come in contact with a lot more people then I should. Stay. The. F. Home.
And the back of house bankers, the ones processing all your transactions.
UK government has ALWAYS called them key workers. Not paid them as such, but called them that.
I wish I could put your message on billboards all over the country, Rachael
A big company is like a pyramid, with all the workers at the bottom and the CEO or what have you at the pinnacle. Everyone seems to focus of the top but if all the workers disappeared, the top would collapse...
Don‘t forget about all those who work in critical infrastructure - electricity, waste management, telecommunications, water and waste water, public transport, road maintenance, power generation etc. These people are easily forgotten. There’s always a big uproar if any of their services malfunction/fail but nobody thinks about appreciating them when everything goes right. And if you are lucky to work from home (therefore, still having a job), don‘t forget to thank your IT department colleagues! Without them, there would be no WFH.
So say we all! My eldest niece is a newly qualified nurse, and when all this blows over (whenever that may be) I'm taking her out to dinner.
In our modern world we tend to make heroes out of the wrong people. I think we all know the kind of people i mean!! Let us realize we are surrounded by 'heroes' every day who quietly do the jobs that really make a difference to society. Let's remember that when all of this is over.
fedex delivery driver here. yes, i'm still working. no one signs the scanners anymore but me. some places won't even take deliveries. some businesses won't let me in the door but come out to take the deliveries. there's a MASSIVE pileup behind closed doors at work from businesses who won't accept anything till this is over. which makes sense!
This. All these highly paid corporate people get to go home, comfortable and secure and safe, while those of us at the bottom of the pecking order get to go to work and get yelled at by the a******s who shouldn't even be out, all while exposing ourselves to COVID-19.
"Don't bring socialist talk to that house, young girl!" said my father in law... 😶
The bankers are pretty important too. People need to pull their money from the bank to pay for the supplies.
Actually in my country banks are required to be open as normal and we're still seeing customers (South Africa)
Oh jesus. How do you think business start? From saving your paper route money? People wouldn't have jobs to begin with sans bankers, and they wouldn't have pensions either. How about people stop the virtue signalling. Lots of people are important. You aren't special. And what does this have to do with teachers and shelf stackers? F**k off with the virtue signalling. Rich people are not inherently bad, but you're inherently jealous.
Actually, lucre is sin, by definition. Ergo, inherently evil. -Rev. Dr. M

Other people that are being forgotten again are the homeless. They have no where to quarantine that is not crowded to the max. One guy that I know that's homeless in the area was still standing on a corner with a sign asking for work or help. I gave him $50 and he started crying. I just hope they don't completely lock down everything or these people might starve to death.

The live-in married managers of my apartment building put up notices that they would gladly pick up groceries and prescriptions for any tenants nervous about going outdoors. They also wrote that they would work with the building property owners on rent issues if money was going to be a problem. Very caring people.
And then I see germany, where some people steal other people's shopping from their carts, corona parties are celebrated, families make a trip to the hardware store because it´s boring at home, they meet for a barbecue in the park, parents send their children to other families so that they are not at home...Favourite sentence of the german brain saver "I´m free and do not let me dictate what I can and can´t do!" Take care of each other and be nice. I love you panda people <3
You realize these kinds of jerks are in every country, right?
Load More Replies...Glad i got to see these. Working for a retail pharmacy we are super stressed right now. Some people are just out right nasty. Its nice to see people helping out and giving a c**p.
I'm an apartment manager & just came back from a 2 week vacation in Hawaii so when I leave my apartment I wear a respirator and neoprene gloves. Not for me but people I encounter since I have no way to know if I may have been exposed on one of the 4 airliners I took. In addition to my normal duties I now wipe down all the handrails, common door handles, and laundry room surfaces twice a day. I was born before the polio & MMR vaccines were created. I've lived through and avoided HIV/AIDS, SARS, swine, & numerous STDs. Not by being stupid. (well, during the 70s I was a s**t so just lucky I guess)
I guess, more than 1000 dead (and counting) in a couple of weeks in Italy is not evidence enough that this is not just some good old fashioned sensationalism from the media. Look at the time span, not just the numbers, please. Greetings from S. Korea! ♡
