If You Think People Are The Worst These Days, These 40 Wholesome Pics May Change Your Mind
It's tough to stay positive when coronavirus deaths top 10,000 globally and entire nations go on lockdown. And in the midst of the fear and uncertainty surrounding the pandemic, each day seems to bring news that's worse than the day before. However, as in most major disasters, tragedies, and public health threats, there are reasons for a better future.
So, even though it's difficult to be the “it could always be worse” type of person during these difficult times, let's try. After all, what other options do we have? Bored Panda has compiled a list of good news about COVID-19 to complement the ones we already have, so scroll down and check 'em out!

These Are Epic Times
So.... the advice is to stay away from people to reduce risk of infection, especially to old people, who are more susceptible and this guy thinks it’s a good idea to sit in a car, with a 79 year old woman and share a joint with her? Yeah, that’s not grand or cute, it’s stupid and selfish.
Right?? "Here, have some of my saliva on the end of your joint" DUMB. So. F*****g DUMB. Think. THINK. Oh my God.
Load More Replies...Laugh at the comments about sharing a joint. At no point in the story is it mentioned that they shared it. Reading comprehension.... some people could use it.
Staples AND Home Depot sell TP, paper products and cleaning supplies :)
In light of these stringent times, a story like this is very welcome. Bravo for sharing your TP and scoring a joint. Ha Ha Ha.
Yeah, Staples sells stuff like that for offices. They also have cleaning supplies and great snacks!
Sharing a joint, close contact, laughing can spew stuff too - sitting in a closed vehicle with a stranger, etc. This one sounds a little too exaggerated to be true. I hope it’s not true - that woman could be in ICU (or worse) from such an encounter. They could have split the 12 roll a safe distance away (washing hands first), leave her the six, walk away so she can go take them. Even that is a risk. This virus is making simple things very annoying.
My first thought was ; she's just out of rolling papers. Then it hit me, this is the answer to our national nightmare. Go to your local headshop and buy a box of rolling papers. Preferably extra wide. They're biodegradable and people have been flushing them for decades . Of course you gotta be really precise when using them but what the hell.
i just hope they both had one joint and didnt share it. Also, driving home stoned? :-(
I am still laughing about the joint smoking! And I think this TP nonsense is for the birds. Seriously, I'll be willing to bet that there are large quantities of TP in every grocery store's storage areas.
It's worth mentioning that most people with COVID-19 recover. Current estimates suggest that 99% of people infected will beat it. Some people even don't experience any of the symptoms at all. Yes, thousands have died, but the overall death rate is about 1% (or perhaps even lower), far less than MERS (about 34%), SARS (about 11%), or Ebola (90%), though a lot higher than the average seasonal flu (0.1%). Condolences to all the lives lost to this illness, and we should expect many more cases, but if we were to isolate the fatality rates, it could be far worse.
Leadership Indeed
Also, scientists have found out how the novel coronavirus breaks into human cells. This will significantly help to develop treatments. It began when researchers revealed the first picture of how the novel coronavirus binds with human respiratory cells to produce more viruses. The scientists in China then solidified the images all the way down to the level of the atoms at the binding points. With this news, understanding how the virus enters cells will significantly aid researchers in finding drugs and vaccines to fight the virus.
A good example of this also comes from China where local medical authorities reported that a drug used in Japan to treat new strains of influenza appeared to be effective in coronavirus patients. Zhang Xinmin, an official at China's science and technology ministry, said favipiravir, developed by a subsidiary of Fujifilm, had produced promising results in clinical trials in Wuhan and Shenzhen involving 340 patients.

Next, humanity's response to future pandemics should improve. "The COVID-19 pandemic has exposed shortcomings in healthcare systems throughout the world that provide an opportunity to improve them," Robert H. Shmerling, MD, wrote in the Harvard Health Blog. "For example, a faster global response, better and quicker distribution of testing kits, and more coordinated and coherent public messaging should be expected the next time around. (No guarantees, of course.)"
The new coronavirus epidemic is a huge problem that's probably only gonna get bigger in the following weeks and months. For those who are infected and those trying to avoid infection, these are definitely tough times. But, as Shmerling put it, "Amid all the doom and gloom, there are some positive stories, positive messages and reasons to remain hopeful."

Other people that are being forgotten again are the homeless. They have no where to quarantine that is not crowded to the max. I just hope they don't completely lock down everything or these people might starve to death.

The live-in married managers of my apartment building put up notices that they would gladly pick up groceries and prescriptions for any tenants nervous about going outdoors. They also wrote that they would work with the building property owners on rent issues if money was going to be a problem. Very caring people.
And then I see germany, where some people steal other people's shopping from their carts, corona parties are celebrated, families make a trip to the hardware store because it´s boring at home, they meet for a barbecue in the park, parents send their children to other families so that they are not at home...Favourite sentence of the german brain saver "I´m free and do not let me dictate what I can and can´t do!" Take care of each other and be nice. I love you panda people <3
You realize these kinds of jerks are in every country, right?
Load More Replies...Glad i got to see these. Working for a retail pharmacy we are super stressed right now. Some people are just out right nasty. Its nice to see people helping out and giving a c**p.
I'm an apartment manager & just came back from a 2 week vacation in Hawaii so when I leave my apartment I wear a respirator and neoprene gloves. Not for me but people I encounter since I have no way to know if I may have been exposed on one of the 4 airliners I took. In addition to my normal duties I now wipe down all the handrails, common door handles, and laundry room surfaces twice a day. I was born before the polio & MMR vaccines were created. I've lived through and avoided HIV/AIDS, SARS, swine, & numerous STDs. Not by being stupid. (well, during the 70s I was a s**t so just lucky I guess)
I guess, more than 1000 dead (and counting) in a couple of weeks in Italy is not evidence enough that this is not just some good old fashioned sensationalism from the media. Look at the time span, not just the numbers, please. Greetings from S. Korea! ♡
