They say that you should “never meet your heroes,” but we think it all depends on who your hero is. While some starstruck fans are crushed when they realize their beloved celebrities aren’t as awesome in reality as they are on the screen or at concerts, others were wowed by how nice, down-to-earth, and wholesome their fave celebs were. So much so that they couldn’t help but spread their joy and shared the stories of their encounters on the net. And we’re talking about the legit kind of ‘nice,’ not “we sang Imagine for you” kind of ‘nice’ (that’s actually not really nice at all).

Celebrity and pop culture expert Mike Sington, who has met hundreds of stars during his decades-long career in Hollywood, told Bored Panda that the vast majority of them have been kind, gracious, and friendly. Read on to learn why this is and what kinds of celebrities actually end up being the most problematic until they learn that being friendly to their fans is worth it.

I served Daniel Radcliffe his dessert at an event, and tripped and spilled some of it on him, probably due to seeing that I was serving Daniel Radcliffe, and he stood up and started apologising profusely to ME. Was very sweet and asking if I was ok.

Hollywood’s Ultimate Insider Mike told us that celebrities know that their fans can be a tad nervous about meeting them. That’s why they make an extra effort to be nice.
“Don’t be afraid to meet a celebrity! The majority are smart business people, and they realize their fans who watch their TV shows, stream their music, and buy tickets to movies and concerts, are paying their salaries. They want to be nice to you!” the expert revealed that being nice is in any star’s best interest.
In Mike’s experience, the one constant that he’s noticed is that the bigger the star, the nicer the celebrity.
Patrick Stewart-- an absolute delight! Waited on him several times. Literally went up to the line at the open kitchen and said thank you to the cooks, and thanked each staff member in a glorious fashion on his way out. Everyone's jaw dropped. Made our day each time!
Will Smith
Worked a private event for him a couple years back. He made sure to thank each and every employee when he arrived and before he left. He had the best manners and was in such a jovial mood, joking around with the staff. Great guy.
Seems like a guy who knows how to have fun with anyone if he's in a good mood
My mom spotted Robin Williams once and she went up to him and asked if she could get a quick photo. She didn't realize he was there in the middle or about to do something with the Make A Wish Foundation so she waited until they were done around 20-30 min later and then a bunch of the kids and people wanted photos with him - he made it a point to stick around and told his staff "I think that woman wanted a photo" and made sure she got it. Mom was thrilled. He was such a humble nice dude.
“In my experience, the one constant I’ve noticed is the bigger the star, the nicer the celebrity. The established stars have it down and understand the importance of the celebrity/fan relationship. You usually only have a problem with the newer, up-and-coming stars. They at times don’t get it and may think they’re too good to interact with you. This attitude often backfires, and they realize if they want longevity, it’s actually not that hard to be nice.”
According to Mike, celebrities need to remember that they’re always in the public eye, even when they think they aren’t. What’s more, everyone’s walking around with a smartphone with a camera in their pocket nowadays. That’s why stars need to change their mindsets and believe that they’re always on display.
“So it does take some conscious effort on the celebrity’s part to be nice, just knowing every interaction, and everything they’re doing in public can be recorded. For some celebrities, in fact, I’d say most celebrities, being nice comes naturally. It doesn’t take any special effort, because it’s who they are as a person,” Mike said that some popular figures have it easier than others because of who they are.
Nathan Fillion when I was working at a movie theater.
Guy bought 6 large popcorns and a bunch of smart waters when I thought, “man this guy is loaded”. He was wearing a hoodie and glasses so I couldn’t quite tell at first. I eventually said, “Hey you kinda look like this guy Nathan Fillion”
He took off his glasses and said, “I sure hope so.” I stood at attention and said, “Captain”
He replied, “As you were, Browncoat”. Coolest moment ever.
I don't think anyone one would be surprised that Jeff Goldblum is nice, but I can attest to it. I was an extra in a movie with him. When he arrived on the scene, some nasty film crew woman was screaming at us not to bother him or ask for his autograph (which none of us had done). He must have heard her, because he turned right around and came over to talk to us.
I met Jim Carrey when I was like 11 at a party my parents attended. I couldn't stop staring at him. He was behaving so normal and then when he noticed me staring he did a mask facial expression and started staring at me.
He's a genuinely funny guy and probably has the purest of heart.
There’s a golden cast of celebrities walking the streets (while social distancing during the pandemic, of course) who already have a reputation for being some of the most empathetic, kindest human beings on Planet Earth. People like Keanu Reeves, Tom Hanks, Jim Carrey, and others.
However, there are also very kind celebs who wouldn’t necessarily be your first pick if you had to choose the ‘nicest’ stars. For example, one of our fave actresses, Emma Stone, dedicates a lot of her philanthropic work to raising awareness and money for terminal diseases. That’s because Emma herself suffers from asthma while her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. So health and fighting illnesses are very important to the actress.
Ian McKellan sat down on some empty theatre steps with me and engaged in a whole conversation. It was awesome and I will never forget it!
I'm not into the whole celebrity worship thing, but meeting Ian McKellan would be a dream come true for me.
Steve Irwin hands down, I've met a few musicians and athletes who have been nice but none were as nice as Steve. I met him in an elevator at a hotel and I walked in soaking wet after swimming in the pool. I was only 11 and I was in awe that I was in an elevator with Steve Irwin. Straight away he starts a conversation with me, asks me what my name is, where I'm from and if there were any crocs in the pool and if I see any at the hotel to come find him. He then starts talking to the hotel worker who was in the elevator with us and staring at Steve the whole time. That interaction with him still makes me ridiculously happy whenever I think about it.
Met -- hung out with for an hour or so -- Kiefer Sutherland.
It was an amazing coincidence running into him as we had plans to go see him at his concert the coming Saturday night. (Tickets were free, but you had to stand in line to get 'em.)
My son was bartending -- I came in to see my son -- and he said, "hey Dad, I got someone I want you to meet..."
So when I met him, the first thing out of my mouth was "oh my goodness, we loved you in Lost Boys, in 24, in so much -- and believe it or not my wife and I are coming to see your band on Saturday!"
He LOST IT!!! He was like, "most people don't have a clue about my music... I can't believe you guys are coming! That's so awesome..."
Yeah, he was thrilled....
So I called my wife? Then she swung by the bar too to meet Kiefer.
Long story short, he left really great seats for us at the will call. Then during the concert he called out for my wife and me to stand up...then he dedicated a love song to us.
He's a good dude!!!
Meanwhile, Taylor Swift uses the funds from some of her concerts to raise money for a wide variety of causes. From supporting education to disaster relief and more. She is also a staunch supporter of feminism-related causes.
Now, someone that you might not expect to have a heart of gold is Steve Buscemi, known for his roles as a villain in lots of movies. A trained firefighter, Steve spent 5 days with his fellow firefighters pulling people out of the rubble and helping the injured after the 9/11 attacks in New York. A real-life hero if we’ve ever seen one, ladies and gentlemen.
I met Paul Rudd on a flight from NY, sat next too him on the plane. My buddy leaned over and told me that he wanted to compliment him on this band shirt he wore when making Clueless, but he "didn't want it to be weird". So his solution was to write him a note and slip it to him, lol. So he does this, and Paul just gets this nervous look on his face, opens the note and reads it. Starts cracking up laughing, leaned over to us and said "best note ever". He then told us the whole story of the shirt, how he fought with the costume dept about it because it was the shirt he wore to set that day. We talked the whole flight, dude was super cool.
That was a good idea, slipping him the note. Because it left the encounter on his terms, and he could decide how to proceed from there. Often, I think, fans get so excited that they forget they might be intimidating or even finding the celebrities at a bad time, so the note was a really cool way to do it. I hope it made Rudd's day just as much as it did yours
A friend of mine went to the premiere of X-Men Origins Wolverine and they camped out by the theater, he said he woke up and he was told that Hugh Jackman had bought everyone who camped breakfast. It was a little breakfast sandwich and an orange juice I believe, he also said there was at least 100 people there.
Having met Hugh Laurie in person, I can confidently state that he is one of the nicest and most humble celebrities out there. Not only is he completely happy to interact with his fans, but he also does so in a way that makes each and every one of them feel like they're a friend. He remembers names and personal details with amazing accuracy, and he makes each conversation seem like it's an extension of a treasured (and ongoing) dialogue. Add to that the fact that the man is outwardly hilarious, and you've got a recipe for a genuinely great guy.
Tom Hanks. I worked at Disneyland in the late 90’s and I saw him giving a tour to a group of about 25 kids. He was leading the tour and the Disney tour guide was just tagging along so I could tell he’d done this many times before.
My dad met Lady Gaga at a restaurant in NYC and said she was one of the most genuinely sweet human beings he has ever met in his entire life. He called her “enchanting” and actually became a fan of hers after that!
A lot of people mention Gordon Ramsay being lovely. My godsister can confirm. She worked at a hotel restaurant in Cornwall where Ramsay vacations at regularly. She was so nervous she spilt something but he just gave her a really fatherly warm smile and went “no it’s okay my darling” and continued on with his conversation.
When I was a kid, my family took a trip to London and we were shopping in Harrod’s. Being the kid I was, I was running around while my parents shopped. I ran up to this man, looked up and said “you look REAAAAAAAALLY familiar. Have we met?” And he flashes a smile and says “no, but I get that a lot” and then he walks off. My dad came right over and went “...you do realise that was mr bean you just spoke to right?”
I have seen his softer side on Masterchef Australia and on his daughters show Matilda and the Ramsay bunch.
Jason Momoa. He’s an absolute treasure to be around. He’s genuine and loves his job. He wants his fans to have as much fun as he’s having. He can size up a fan and know how far to push/tease them to make them comfortable while not going too far. His personality is infectious, and I had a blast with him.
Tom Hiddleston told me my dog was awsome. So that was the highlight of my life lol.
My mom and sister met the Rock when he was still a wrestler. They had a couple car seats and tons of bags having a hell of a time getting off the plane and people were waiting and then this massive guy offered to carry some things for them and they happily took the help, he grabbed some bags and held the baby carrier with my niece in it and helped them off the plane and left. After people kept going up to them asking how they knew the rock and they were very confused until someone explained who he was.
Back when they were filming Lord of the Rings all the hobbits: Elijah Wood (Frodo Baggins), Sean Astin (Samwise Gamgee), Billy Boyd (Peregrin Took), and Dominic Monaghan (Meriadoc Brandybuck), came into my mom's video store and wanted to rent all of Peter Jacksons movies. They were so excited to have a movie marathon I thought it was super cute.
Anne Hathaway.
We were backstage waiting for her cue to go on started chatting. She told me how she was such a klutz and we joked around a bit. Then, when she was called on stage she tripped hard going up the stairs and face planted, then turned around to me and we both started laughing.
She’s a sweetheart and a genuinely nice person. I’m glad I got to meet her.
Not me but my dads story. My dad interviewed Mr. Rogers and Mr. Rogers was very nice, but the highlight of the interview was Mr. Rogers saying he was proud of my dad. Great guy
Robert Downey Jr., we were on the same flight.. Super personable, witty. I didn’t realize it was him at first.
I met Leonard Nimoy at different times. Leonard was incredibly cool. He was giving a talk at the place where I work and we all knew he was coming so we sat at a table outside near the entrance so we could see when he arrived. His security people led him from the car to the building and we said hello as he passed. They took him inside to a private green room to relax before he went on. To our surprise, after the handlers dropped him off at the green room he came back outside, sat down with us and just hung out, we talked about food and cool places to see nearby. We just chatted like he was one of the crew. Class act guy. One of the neatest celebrity encounters I've had.

Weird Al is insanely f**king nice. Like, you ask him for a photo and he’ll make a 10 second video for your dad nice.
Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter) was very sweet, met him at Comic Con one year, he told me I had a beautiful smile :)
I would have forgotten how to f***ing human. I would just freeze in absolute terror/joy
Dolly Parton is without a doubt one of the most polite, friendly and welcoming human beings I have ever met. I was catering backstage at one of her concerts. My job was to prepare the buffet for the backstage guests and basically be invisible. She entered the room and greeted everybody like they were family. Then she saw me and my coworker and said, "Aw, come on over here. We're all family here!" She made herself an equal to everybody in the room.
Daryl Hall was a cool guy. Gave us all autographed tshirts. John Oates not so much. Their crew let us (backstage caterers) watch the show from the wings.
Melissa Etheridge was awesome. Super friendly to the backstage crew.
I’ve also met Stan Lee, twice actually (two different comic con years) At the first I got my picture taken with him and were instructed not to touch or talk to him. When I walked in (probably 15 years old at the time) he sweetly smiled and said hi The second time I got that picture autographed and he was kind to both me and my father, so great to meet a legend like him (RIP Stan)
aw! I got to meet him too, for a picture with my family. we were told the same instructions, and I was 10 or 11 at the time. I remember him complementing my shirt, and he was the sweetest guy ever.
Used to do delivery runs for a catering company, and we would get a lot of celebrities at the airport that ordered from us. Johnny Depp was the only one I ever saw face to face. Dude pulled a wadded up bill from his pocket and tossed it at me. I thought it was cool I got a tip directly from him at all, but once I had it all unwadded it was $100 bill.
George Takei. Bumped into a little Asian guy in a white suit on my way out of a theater, he turns around and goes "Oh myyy, I'm so sorry."
Realized why the laughter from the front row had caught my attention.
Snoop Dogg - Totally, unflappably chill, 100% of the time. It's like a super power.
Jon Bon Jovi - Smoked a cigarette with him, couldn't have been more down to earth. I believe he's making BBQ sandwiches for homeless people as we speak.
Met Vincent Price when I was a kid. He was speaking at the college where my parents worked and since our house was next to the auditorium we usually hosted the meet n greets. I was only supposed to be allowed in with the grownups long enough to say hello but when I blurted out how much I liked scary movies he stopped to talk. He was extraordinarily patient and kind to a nine year old kid who just wanted to talk monster movies and show off his monster dioramas.
I met Robin Williams (Rest easy, Lord) on a ski lift in 2000. He was hilarious and 12 year old me heard some very rude jokes. Heard some of them again later on a comedy special. The one that I specifically remember was about how Intelligent Design is BS because of how penises work.
I met Vin Diesel at a truck stop diner when I was a kid.
It was like 4 in the morning and me, my grandpa and vin and his friend were the only ones in the diner, and we ended up getting sat at the table next to them.
Vin and a friend were getting ready to go on some fishing trip which was made obvious by the clothes they were wearing. My grandpa struck up a conversation about fishing with him, completely oblivious to who he was. He was a really nice guy and apparently knew a great deal about fishing techniques.
I was a bit geeked out and didn’t say much or contribute to the conversation but I spent the next hour of our road trip explaining to my grandpa who vin diesel was and why it was a huge deal we just met him.
Its pretty well established that he's nice, but Hugh Jackman is one of the nicest human beings I've ever encountered.
I ran into Adam Sandler outside of a Planet Fitness in Brooklyn in early 2016.
As I was leaving the Planet Fitness, it looked like he was walking in. We made eye contact, so I stopped and held the door for him. He got to the door and stopped right before he walked through, in one of those fake poses that little kids make when you tell them to freeze. I stood there holding the door, plenty confused. For about five seconds, we just stood there- him, motionless and I, standing there holding the door. Finally, he turned his head and said in the stereotypical Adam Sandler voice, "Ahhh, who we kidding? I'm not going in there!" Giant grin on his face. We both laughed and then he continued down the street.
Awesome.
I had a chance to work with Witney Houston for eight days on a film set. I was working as an extra. She was nice, kind and personable. Her beauty was more striking in person.
She was very professional she did not miss a mark or a cue. Everybody on the set cried when she sang. Whitney Houston was very nice to me and complimentary she spoke sweetly and in a motherly tone when she greeted people. I can still rememer her friendly greetings when she arrived on set every day.
That was one of best experiences of my life and best experiences working on a film set. I learned a lot from her about professionalisim on a film set. I also saw how hard she worked. She was there twelve hours a day and on point every minute. I watched how she interacted with the director other actors and crew. She was even encouraging to other actors and performers in the film even the extras.
It was heartbreaking when she passed. I still have the dress that I wore in that film she admired and complimented me about the dress. An actor/ musician I know was booked to perform at the event Whitney Houston was to be at the day she passed he was also staying at the same hotel. He called me and told me she was gone then he started to cry.
Lewis Black is f**king awesome. I was in Vegas with some buddies Veterans Day weekend and we spotted him playing craps. I stood near him and watched because a) it’s Lewis friggin Black and b) I’ve never played craps so I had no idea what was going on. He noticed me, asked if I knew how to play. I said I didn’t and he immediately spent $200 teaching me how to play craps and wouldn’t let me put any of my own money down since I was learning. We chatted, he asked what we were doing in Vegas and we mentioned celebrating the Marine Corps birthday and Veterans Day. He thanked us profusely for our service and asked if we wanted tickets to his show the following night. I’m a bigger fan than my friends were so I said yes I’d love to come see his show. He said he would leave tickets for me at will call. My sister met up with me the next day and we were super pumped about the show, but joked that it was too good to be true and there wouldn’t actually be tickets waiting for us. Sure enough, Lewis Black is a man of his word and left me four free tickets at will call, and not only that but they were good tickets, like third row center. He put on a great show and I will forever enthusiastically support him. He made great conversation, was patient and kind teaching me to gamble on his own dime, and kept his promise of tickets for me. A+ guy, despite his angry ranting comedic style
Ed Sheeran - before the fame I met him when he was the support act at a gig with an audience of maybe 100 people. After his act I got chatting to him and he said he’d come play at my student house if I paid for his train and gave him a couch for the night. We took a pic together and slightly tipsy I told him he’s going to be famous. It felt like he was on the radio a matter of day’s later, so I never got my private gig. Aside from being unable to keep promises he was very pleasant.
met Matthew Lillard, his wife, and newborn daughter like literally after the release of the 1st Scooby Doo Movie. My family always host 4th of July parties in our beach house, and he party crashed. I was like 7 or 8 at the time and my cousins were freaking out saying "Shaggy is here!". Of course I immediately sprinted over and he was eating a hot dog (super cliche I know since it's the 4th of July lol). He was so cool. The whole time he was in character and offering me to have him go get a hot dog for me. I remember my little cousins asking where Scooby was at and he replied, "Oh Scoobs ate sooo many hot dogs that he's like, having a food coma". Seriously, one of most highlighted memory dating back to my youth
Taylor Swift - met her after the 1989 show in my city. Super nice and easy to talk to, felt like we were old friends. But what was crazy was she knew the guy standing next to me just from Tumblr (this was back when she used it a lot and he ran a TSwift fan tumblr). She knew his name, knew all these personal details about him and was really excited to meet him! It was very sweet.
Paris Hilton - I didn't meet her in person. But I worked for an airline answering phones as a supervisor. She called in to change her itinerary on New year's Day years ago when she was very much in the public eye. It would have been about 3:00 a.m. where she was, and I could hear the party going on in the background. She was my very first call of the morning where I was on the east coast. 7:00 a.m. I was hungover as f**k, and in no mood to be at work. She was absolutely the nicest person to deal with. She was really sweet and patient, she made small talk while I changed her reservation and seemed genuinely kind. I was pleasantly surprised.
I work as a background extra and sometimes get to meet cool people: John Cusack was very nice! Billy Bob Thorton is AMAZING, there was only 10 of us working with him on a night shoot and he took the time to introduce and shake each of our hands. That never happens. Keanu is a doll, Tom Hardy is cool. I lost my s**t over James Hetfield (Metallica) and he couldn't have been nicer. 13 reasons why cast was cool, they stuck to themselves but would say hi to us if they recognized us after awhile. (I was part of one of the core groups.) TBH I've yet to work with a d**k.
Mark Ruffalo was a sweetheart, Javier Bardem was cool! (Really short though which surprised me cause he always seems so intimidating and overbearing in movies-great actor)
For a couple years I went to a private school in Connecticut. My last year there, Bill Murray's sons transferred in. Neither was in my grade, but one of them was in the play with me. I was super nervous, but I was an SNL fan my whole life and had the 20th anniversary book that talked about all the cast members and behind the scenes stuff. After the show I (really shyly) said hi and told him I was a fan and asked him to sign it. He said "whoa! I haven't even seen this yet! Cool!" and then told the biggest lie ever told and said I was good in the show (I was awful, I forgot all my lines).
Weirdly, this wasn't the first time I saw him. When I was about 6 we were at a restaurant in new jersey and he and his wife were at another table. Ghostbusters had just come out and I wanted to say hi but my parents stopped me.
Nice dude.
I met Bill, too! He's exactly the person you think he'd be. Also met his brother Brian that same night. Great guys.
I’ve written this before but I worked at MuchMusic in Canada. Quick stand outs are that: Taylor Swift was extremely nice, very polite and easy to work with, smelled amazing LOL, great person overall. Very nice to our crew. Ryan Reynolds was a prick, people are always surprised when I say that but out of all the celebs I had to work with, he was the worst. I don’t give a s**t if he’s twitter’s darling right now. Fall Out Boy were nice, Patrick and Pete were kind of strange and awkward, but nice dudes overall. Robert Pattinson (this was during the twilight days) was so odd and strange but a really cool guy, easy, down to earth. You could tell he didn’t give a s**t about Twilight but he was funny and cool about it. Treated us all with respect.
When my dad was about 9 (1964ish) he was on a plane from LA to Heathrow in coach with his mom. The stewardess came back and excitedly asked him if he wanted to ‘meet a beatle??’
My dad said sure but didn’t really know the Beatles at that age, and only said yes because that’s kinda what you do at that age. He sat on the couch next to George (different time, airlines treated you like people), George folds up his newspaper and says, “soo, do ya like my music?”
My dad says (like a confused 10 year old) “um, no”. Apparently George smiled and went back to reading his newspaper. My dad sat there like a doofus for like 5-10 minutes until the stewardess came and got him.
So George Harrison was cool to children, and my dad’s the most Stone cold 10 year old ever
Bumped into Gordon Ramsay in the lift in a hotel in Hong Kong. He was very friendly. We didn't talk to him or ask for a picture. I just blurted out "You're Gordon Ramsay!" and he aknowledged and smiled. He insisted on us going first because we had our suitcases with us, wished us a nice day, said bye several times when we saw him in the lobby again. Very friendly!
My mom met Bob Marley outside of a concert out of pure luck. Her friends had already left without her and he got a security guard to drive her home.
Years later her best friend gave my mom a signed poster that said he hoped she was doing good and had better friends.
Dave Chappelle and his family live a few miles from where I went to college, and he and I frequented the same Starbucks. I ran into him about ten times. One day he sat with me for about 45 minutes and talked about screenwriting. It was amazing. He’s as down to earth as his stage persona suggests, and it’s no wonder he opted to raise his family away from L.A.
Adam Sandler. He is super nice we met him at my aunts lake house. Such a sweet guy he brought his family over and we hung out with him for like 3 hours and we just chilled. He is an amazing dude.
Pink the singer (in 2004) was incredibly friendly in a natural down to earth way, considering she was on the height of her fame at the time.
She was also shorter than me (13 years old then) and smelled VERY fruity and waited patiently for my mom to figure out how to take a picture of us with her phone. Cool person.
P!nk is always so down to earth, and an incredibly funny woman, not to mention insanely talented! (I mean cmon, aerial acrobatics whilst singing live!?)
Met Peter Cullen (voice of Optimus Prime and Eeyore) at Botcon in 2012. They had a raffle system set up for autographs/meet and greets. He saw a bunch of us standing off to the side, including a man next to me who was sobbing because Peter meant so much to him. Peter full on RAN from the line he was supposed to be autographing and bear hugged this guy for at least a solid minute, patting his back and saying “It’s all right. Everything is okay. I’m here now,” while the guy sobbed on him. Then Peter autographed all our memorabilia and was whisked away by some very angry con staff.
Wonderful, wonderful man. Class act and genuinely kind.
I didn't actually meet him, but Tracy Morgan bought my younger sister an iphone many years ago. Hers broke, and his gf, now wife, at the time lost her phone at the Superbowl or something so that's why he was at the same Verizon store.
The Verizon employee said my sister's damage wasn't covered under insurance and my mom couldn't afford to buy her a new phone, and my sister I guess clearly got emotional because Tracy Morgan, who had been talking to my mom for a bit before while they were waiting (my mom and sister had NO idea who he was until my dad came in and recognized him) bought the phone for her.
My mom tried to say no but he said to just pay it forward.
Stan Lee. He was my neighbor for a while, and he directly wrote me letters which I now have framed on my wall. Tom Brady wasn't great, Steven Tyler was really cool/chill, but Stan Lee was the best by far.
Lenny Kravitz was one of the most humble people I've met. Incredibly down to earth, laid back and friendly.
Prince Charles was also pretty friendly. Would look you directly in the eye during conversation and make you feel like there was no one else in the world but the two of you - despite being constantly surrounded by others.
I can second on Lenny Kravitz. I was working at a celebrity fundraiser a few years ago and Gene Simmons had made a comment about my breast within earshot of Lenny. He came over, gave Gene a verbal beat down, and then asked me if I wanted his slice of cheesecake.
Jeff Goldblum. Met his wife and children as well. They were all kind and sweet .His real life persona matches the on-screen one exactly.
I knew Shaquille O'Neal in college occasionally. I wasn't associated with the athletic program at LSU but had friends who were, so I ran into him often enough to kinda-sorta get to know him.
He was a huge goofball back then too.
went with my parents to a function for some charity group and we shared a table with Ice-T. Super nice guy, down to earth and not high on himself. He has a mouth on him but when he found out my Dad is a retired preacher never heard a bad word again the rest of the night. I ended up talking music and how he goes from Rap to Metal. Man is cool and knows his sh*t about the metal and Punk scene.

Super sweet and really bubbly. Thought she would come across as a bitch or standoffish, partly because it was early in the morning, like 5:30-6:00 am. Not at all, she was so nice. Made her laugh after I told her I was a huge fan of one of her earliest films, Home Alone 3 (which really is one of my favorite childhood movies).
She just had this charming aura about her.
I spent a day with Adam Sandler on the set of Mr. Deeds back in 2001 as part of my brother's make a wish. Guy was really down to earth and his entire crew were all very accommodating and sensible. As I get older, I continue to read good things about him from other fans.

My Grandma sat next to Rob Van Winkle (Vanilla Ice) on a plane before he was famous for ice ice baby. She knew who he was but didnt want him to know. They had a lovely 4 hour conversation and she said he was really intelligent and nice.
I served Piers Morgan as a waiter and he was unbelievably polite, which maybe some people would find surprising
I was working on a set once where John C. Reilly acted as one of the main characters. It was a pretty small set and low budget (not even sure if the show ever aired) so we all found ourselves working closely together for the most part.
I sat across from him during lunch one day and we chatted for a bit about random stuff. The guy talks the same way he acts, which is why I think he plays such a great character in any comedy because he quite literally plays his own attitude in many roles.. at least it seems.
But anyway he was a very nice and down to earth guy, I found it hard not to giggle every time he spoke because I just couldn't shake the image in my head of all the roles he's played.
Ewan McGregor accidentally ran over my bf's foot a couple of years ago when he was filming his Long Way Round series. He was absolutely lovely though, my bf loves bikes so he was over the moon bless him. Apparently they talked about his GS for a couple of minutes together, apparently it's one of his favourite memories. He had to restrain himself a little from roasting the GS as they are notorious for their unreliability
It is probably not at all surprising but I met Alison Brie about 10 years ago and she was super lovely. It was in NYC at a Fashions Night Out event. Im a big Community fan and mentioned so to her. She was very nice, took a photo with me and complimented my necklace.
Met Dave Chappelle a few years back. Long story short, a friend of a friend got me and two friends into an after party. We were sitting at the bar when his manager offered us some shots. We talked with his manager for a while. Then Dave sat down near us. Dave was kind of sitting by himself and he looks over at us and goes “What’s going on fellas?” And we talk to him for about an hour. We thanked him for coming to our town, talked about music, sports, all kinds of stuff. Super cool dude. One of my favorite memories.
It was my first time in NYC. Just got off the plane and had my luggage in hand walking to my airBnB. It was probably 2 am and I heard a very distinct laugh; I looked across the alley and it was Sal from the impractical jokers standing outside of a comedy club smoking weed with his buddies. I went up and got a picture and talked about what to do in the city. I told him I’m from Oklahoma and he almost fell down laughing and said “nobody is really from Oklahoma!”
It was great. Super cool dude.

my friend met her favorite band and she was telling them that they saved her life, etc etc and they were total jerks to her, ik celebs are humans and have bad days but like, thats the worst time like imagine someone being like "you literally saved my life, thank you" then being super rude

My hubby had a close encounter with Michael Hutchins. My hubby was a kid at the time and was travelling with his parents. On the flight he was seated across from Michael and and he started chatting with him and just before the flight ended Michael offered my hubby a Mars Bar. My hubby and his parents didn’t realise who it was until they saw him on the news when he died.

I once met a guy who was the spitting image of Matt Smith, he was cashier at Trader Joes. When I adressed him about it he said he didnt know him nor Dr Who but would look it up and he was acting all funny. So either he must hear this every day, or it really was him and I'm on candid camera somewhere...
In the late 90's and early 2000's I was an amateur and semi-pro motorcycle racer. I used to race on the roads in events like the Manx GP, and the Northern Ireland road races, as well as in support races for the World Superbike Championship. During this time I raced against, and in some cases, became friends with guys who would go on to become very successful and famous. My favourite races though were classic events like the Classic TT and the Goodwood revival. My favourite memory is at my First Goodwood revival and wandering around the paddock and garages chatting to car and bike racers who were absolute heroes to me as a kid and who's posters covered my bedroom walls, and here I was chatting to them and even racing against some of them.
Met a few rockstars in my time but loved meeting Marilyn Manson most. I don't know about what he is like now, but at the time, I genuinely felt so pleased that he was just as I had imagined he would be: natural, curious, every-day and I felt greatly at ease in his company (even though I was screaming with excitement inside). I was twenty and it gave me such a wonderful glow that the world was not all illusion and trickery. I still wish him peace for that gift. My friend and I ran into him a couple of times over a massive party weekend in a foreign city (obviously we were there to see him) and after seeing/talking to him a few times he would come over to us to kind of "get the mood of the venue" we were at, so to speak. So proud that I kept my cool!!! :D Epic, amazing weekend I will remember fondly forever.
Malcolm McDowell--when I was at uni, all of the film majors got free passes to go see a special showing of A Clockwork Orange that he was attending. My roommate was obsessed with him at the time, so I snuck her in (she was not a film major), and we stuck around after the film to see if she could say a quick HELLOOOOO OMG I LOVE YOU. He chatted with us for like ten minutes, really nice personable guy. Also Rowdy Roddy Piper (who left us far too soon)--waited on line at Thriller Theater for like an hour to meet him. Turns out the wait was so long because he made a point to stop and chat with EVERY SINGLE ONE of his fans.
Observation: most (not all) of the stories herein were of personalities who came from humble to middling origins. The attitude of gratitude from these people may have never left them, and so they become the humans that they always had been, not the stars that wouldn't act so nice. (A few months back, I saw a video online of Sir Patrick Stewart and his brother talking about the poverty that they lived in as children.)
Chuck D got stuck sitting next to my mother for hours on a flight that kept getting delayed. He was "a lovely young man" and they had a great conversation about jazz. She had zero idea who he was until I shoved a picture of Public Enemy at her and screamed for her to tell me if it was someone in it. Then she got mad at me for being dramatic.
Bruce Willis was in Denver for the Film Festival decades ago. Any time someone was looking for him late at night, he'd be out back of the kitchen chatting with the staff. He'd been a bartender and watier, and really identified with them.
I met Melissa Peterman last year and she was truly such an amazing woman to be around! I still look at our selfie and grin ear to ear
I've had the pleasure to work with Tom Kenny (the voice of Spongebob Squarepants and countless other characters on numerous shows). He is one of the sweetest, most pleasant guys you'll ever meet, and so happy to go out of his way for his fans. A true gentleman and all-around great dude.
