Given the myriad of colors we see in the animal kingdom, seeing a purely white animal can be an unsettling but magical experience. Albino animals and rare all-white species and leucistic creatures are the same as any other animals but with a coloration that makes them (sometimes literally) one in a million.

Albinism is an umbrella term that covers a variety of genetic pigmentation disorders. Most creatures born with albinism are born with white or pink skin and fur, and some (not all) have reddish or violet eyes. Albinism in animals is associated with poor eyesight and a higher susceptibility to skin cancers, but such cute animals and people are otherwise no different from their peers. Leucism is a similar condition that can affect a wider array of pigments than albinism does.

Though the white fur might seem super cool, it actually makes the animal pop out of their environments more, thus more visible to predators. And if these unusual animals might fit well in ever-wintery landscapes, it is so much harder for those living in the jungle.

If you have a photo of a beautiful, all-white, cool animal, we'd love to see it added to this list!

Sadly, all of the dogs in the picture have undergone ear cropping. This is a practice just as cruel as tail docking.

The one on the left is melanistic because he is all black, it is so rare to see one with an albino of the same species

Third these dogs are all fixed and pets. So no inbreeding here. And none in the lines. They are just very well trained. Try it sometime

They didn't mean these dogs were being inbred & it had nothing to do with their training. Light Dobe colors are often from inbreeding.

This looks so staged, which makes me believe this is the result of some serious inbreeding and stupid stuff dog breeders do. Don't. Like.

The DPCA opposes breeding the albino Dobe. It's a genetic defect that causes the pups to have shortened lives, health defects and suffering.

He reminds me of Dr. Hunt from Grey's Anatomy for some reason!

That's not an albino Doberman, it's Isabella or Fawn (a normal color in Dobermans along with Blue, Red, and Black/Tan).

Ok first off. This is not an albino Doberman. It is cream! Secone. Why is this photo on this page without the owners permission?

We call the color Isabella or Fawn, but you're right it is NOT an albino.

Cropping ears prevents infections, hematomas, and tears in the ears

Fourth. The ears are cropped and tails docked because that is the look of the breed.

albinism is a genetic disease where the DNA code for pigment of the fur/skin got messed up. It is quite amazing.

The first is an example of leucism, the second is an example of albinism. Both are beautiful.

I had a albino rat, my sister saved it from a lab she was working in, it unfortunately died from cancer in the end.
