My boyfriend and I have been in a long distance relationship for 3 years now.
I decided to capture what it’s like to be in a long distance relationship for us through drawings. My style of illustration was inspired by British Illustrator Philippa Rice’s comic “Soppy”.
Being in love with someone who is far away can be tough. But when you know that you are with the one, even the toughest times are worth it. Being in a long distance relationship means…

Contantly missing your loved one
Birthdays and holidays are especially hard
Poor internet connection drives you insane on the regular
But you know it’s worth it, because talking to them makes your day
Sometimes, random things trigger up memories of them that make you smile (or cry…)
Flying out to see each other is not always easy
But when you manage to put together a plan, it’s the most exciting thing in the world!
Counting down the days becomes your favourite activity and gives you a daily jolt of happiness
The day you get to go to the airport is the best day ever!
When you finally see that specially someone, no words can describe your joy!
Having been apart makes you appreciate every moment you have together
Everything is so comfortable that sometimes it feels like you were never apart
The night before they have to leave again is the toughest…
But it’s ok because you know that distance means so little when someone means so much
Until you see each other again soon!

Share on FacebookMe (Korean-Korea) and My boyfriend (Taiwanese-USA) have been dating 6 years by this way. haha I'm surprised that it is absolutely same!!!! We are planing to marry next year. This drawing really cheers us up! :)
This nearly made me cry! It's so damned true. Countdown currently at 27 days...
I am from Croatia and my boyfriend is from Poland, and that was hard time for us to be separated, coming to me and going back to Poland..so, we decided to live together in United Kingdom..i think that nobody is happy more than we are :) Never give up from real love :)
That was so true and reminiscent of the two most romantically excruciating years of my life. Maurice & Sâmira 2008 - 2009
I am in a long distance relationship... not that long (i live in Havana and she lives in another cuban city), but transport and communication in my country aren't the best (pretty bad, actually), so we cannot do skype, 1 hour of talk costs us almost one day of work... We can, sometimes, share pictures or short videos via email, at work, though.... And as we live in the same country, we manage to meet once or twice a month...
I've tried the long distance one.. It was the most miserable time in my life. We live together in his country now, have done for the last 12 years. They've been the happiest years of my life :) I do sometimes miss my own country and my my family, of course. But I love it here and we are still like newly weds. My best decision ever to move over.
This is the only one of these types of posts that I've seen which I feel really does show how it is to be in this situation. Made me smile
I miss Matt. This post hit every one of the things i experience.
My boyfriend is Armenian, I'm from Poland, first month has just passed. I hope we will manage. :)
At least it's so much easier having along distance relationship now. When my husband and I forst started dating we had a long distance relationship and would call on the phone and write love letters. This was back in the 90s. We had no internet, cellphones, computers, apps... back then that would help us. Now a days it's easier to keep in touch.
My boyfriend lives in Wisconsin, USA and I live in England. We've been together for 3 years now, and we both love these pictures! They are so true!! ^_^ We made this Meme together the last time he was in England! :D B***h-Plea...NE-png.jpg
Me and my bf have been together for 3years now. And this is exactly how it goes (except for the plane is a 6hour train ride)! Love the art style.
My relation too but we both live in 1 country and I travel every 4 and when I'm back we still can't meet cause of problems in family :'(
I have been in a long distance for 2 years now and it is not always a glossy picture. I miss him so does he but there at times is an awkwardness in the initial stages because virtually we were in level 10 of relationship but in reality it was still at level 5.
I experience this exact same thing with my partner! I am surprised how accurate and moving this is. 4yrs so far, between UK and USA. Very difficult with the time zone issues, but the time we spend together is so much more precious and our mental bond is super strong. This is the strongest kind of love! Countdown at 55 days <3
This goes for internet friendships as well as long distance relationships!
Me (Romanian) and my girlfriend( American) are dating for 8 months now and these drawings fit perfectly to us. Even the part when she was waiting for him in the airport in the winter. The good part is that we will be together in 3 months and we`ll have a normal relationship! :) Thanks for the drawings! I saved them!
My loyalty to dr john soco at [drjohnsoco @ gmail. com] will ever remain in my heart for the peace he has brought back to my marriage, i am a man who always busy with my JOB, which i really don,t enough time with my family and my wife always complain about it and i tried to make her understand the situation but she got angry and left to stay on her own and move on with her life, the most painful thing is that she left the 4 years old daughter. i went to her several times to bring her back home all she could do is to filed for divorce which i don,t want that to happen I love her and i want my child to be taken good care of. but Thank God for using Dr John Soco , to save my home with peace within 7 days of his spiritual intervention that change her mind about the divorce.

This is beautiful!! I feel the exact same thing because I also live in a long distance relationship with a girl from Serbia while I live in Canada! We talk a lot since we meet a few weeks ago and I'm starting to look for tickets to go visit her in Serbia! I hope to anybody in a long distance relationship with someone to be happy together!!
Me (Thai) and my fluffy is Australian. This is our first meet trip for a week. As I'm happier than I ever be, so I hope he is too. Tomorrow he'll fly back, I missed him already! I have one big goal for myself that I'm going to see him again in October 2019. I'm excited already!
Been in a long distance relationship for over a year now and surely I can relate to these things. Also, the illustrations are great. Hope to see more such amazing content from you. One of the worst things: "Poor internet connection drives you insane on the regular." Haha! My girl is Polish (she lives in London) and I am Brazilian (living in Brazil). It's really hard to this distance. I want live with her, but it's hard to safe money nowadays, but little by little I hope to achieve this goal. It's funny, many people live together for long time and at the same time they seem too far between them. We are too far in the space but we feel like we are too close. Sometimes I just want her presence next to me, even without say any word. A hug would be enough.
Me(uk) and my girlfriend (Indonesia) have been together 1 year and couple of months. It's been beautiful. I've been to see her and it's exactly like the drawings. We talk to each other like we're a married couple. It's the realistic way of finding love bcus if that person loves you through all that distance then there's nothing stopping.. I wasn't expecting that..
Hnnng, this is so real it hurts, even though my "long distance" weren't even that far away - as in, same country and everything (England)! It was mostly the money that was the issue as well as the distance and time and stuff but still. I feel this. Such a cute comic <3 Glad more people understand that long distance does not equal "fake" relationship anymore!
My boyfriend (Canada) and me (America) keep talking about making plans but we can't :(
Saddest part of my long distance relationship is that my gf and I live 3 miles apart, but we go to different schools, I've only gotten to see her 3 times this year.
I am a lucky girl. I've been together with my boyfriend for more than 2 years now, the first year was a long distance relationship (Sweden-Hungary), but we always knew we wanted to be together, so he just moved to Hungary until I finish university... He's been here for 15 months, and I can't possibly feel luckier to have a man caring so much <3
Thanks Viola for doing this and its come to me as a gift to proof the surviving long tern relationship. You can do this for 3 years, why not us. but its really tough for both of us to say I miss you, Me too everyday til we meet next time
Yes, exactly what's happening with me now. I want to fly to him and see him now. But will have to wait for another 6 weeks for him to come to me and 10 weeks for me to come to him
The only jealousy you feel is when seeing couples together, because your partner is far away. Yep, trust. ☻
