Soaked Dad Protecting His Schoolboy From Rain Shows What Parenting Is
56Kviews
This heartwarming photo of a dad soaking in the rain so that his son could stay dry went viral after it was anonymously uploaded on Imgur. The little boy seems almost oblivious to his father’s discomfort, though it’s clear that dad’s shirt has been soaked through completely.
This dad is doing much more than keeping his son dry – he’s teaching him to put someone else’s well-being ahead of his own.

Why are all of you so critical can't you just keep quiet if you have nothing nice to say don't say it. Enjoy the fact that someone is not being selfish
Or he can just pick up his son, the boy can hold the umbrella and both of them would be dry.
Holding a 45+ lbs squirmy child is not as easy as you think it is. The father could need his arms for something, and they could be walking for a very long period of time. In theory, your idea is good but in reality it isn't practical.
I think the point in this photo is what parents do for theris kids, not if what they were doing was clever. BTW, the photo doesn-t tell me if the father was injuried on the righ arm, or if they were 2 or 50 minutes away from their destination. Just like (or don't) the picture, but don't try to see further ahead without more information.
Have you tried doing that and walk for more than 15 mins? Not to mention that if it's windy, like it is where I live, the kid would fly away with the umbrella.
Then you should try
Yes, you, Adam Miller, can definitely pick up that 50+ kid, all the gears and his own bag, and walk 15 mins. Unfortunately, alot of people are not as strong as you are.
Exactly what I was thinking...

Do you really think that a father can't hold his child in one arm on the way to ( idk home, or to the bus stop)...You think he is that weak? A 40 something lbs child is not that heavy and yes I tried, not even once. In the picture you can see, there is no wind and if there is, when I was a child i walked in the windy/rainy weather with umbrella in my hands and im still here. :) But, maybe in your world is not working that way. Have a nice day everyone!
This can have the reverse outcome unfortunately. I always put my sons first and now they believe that is their entitlement.
It's not about what you did, it's how you put it. There're ways to put our kids first, but letting them know it is an act of love, not an act of parenting obligation. Humans are creatures who will exploit obligation but have the perspective to appreciate love. Have faith a little , will you? Besides, what sort of parents are afraid of being taking advantaged of? Kids are all you have in the remaining days, what are you afraid of?
Sad to heard that. We'll never know what would be the best for them :-<
any parent will tell you, dealing with sick kid is a way bigger hassle than getting sick yourself
What a great dad! Showing his kid by example of how to think of others first.
I would just get him his own umbrella....
And show his son what planning ahead is.
Okay, my bad, not "nobody", some people actually do have umbrellas. But half of them don't. Still my assumption stays.
If you look at the other people in the background, it seems to be a surprise shower or something like that. Nobody's carrying an umbrella. Put this way, it was probably a no-rain cloudy day forecast, but the careful father took an umbrella anyway.
Sharing the umbrella would have sent a stronger message to the kid about thinking of others apart from himself but it was probably too awkward to bend down and/or pick him up, let's be honest and not get too gooey.
Aww :3
Wasn't this post already posted before under a different name?

I think it would be pretty cumbersome to carry the boy, the umbrella, and his briefcase.
It's just more B.S.Propaganda!
who knows, maybe uncle
I WAS JUST JOKING
This dad is awesome and those people that don't and that have sons are terrible fathers or mothers
