They taste a bit like a juicy cucumber, but there's so many damn seeds there's really not much to actually eat.

This is very regular in south India. I cant tell you the delicious dishes we can cook with this. The tender jackfruit peels (inside part) is used in curries with ground mustard. The ripened jackfruit's yellow part is so sweet and its seeds OMG my favourite. You can even boil the seeds and make delicious side dish or a simple salad with peeled and boiled seeds with salt

i love this especially its smell when it is about to be ripe. if its meat is ripe and yellow, it sweet and juicy. Filipinos also cook this when unripe, usually cooked with coconut milk. its seeds were boiled and can be eaten like chestnuts

I've seen these at H-Mart but I didn't want to buy 20 pounds of fruit just to try it. These things make watermelons look small.

This fruit can also be used as a savory dish if not ripe. And the seeds can be eaten as well if tenderized in a boiling water the texture will be like canned chestnuts.

There was a tree that had Jack Fruit. and no one ate any of it. Out of nowhere a black guy said he made barbeque sauce with Jack Fruit and bought most of the fruit. Next time he came, he brought some barbeque beef with him. The best BBQ sauce I ever tasted. Sad when he died. No one else knew his recipe.

In Indonesia, we call it "nangka". You can either eat the fruit directly (sweet & smells good if ripe) or cook it as gudeg or sayur lodeh
