We have all kinds of cellar spiders in our basement. They shed and leave these behind. They are not alive, in fact if you touch it, God no, poke it, lol, it disintegrates.

Yes I know it because my grandfather was a slave to a British officer and this was his daily job at the British Architect's office in Indian railways. But inspite of being a slave my grandfather was treated nicely and after independence he even got a job in Indian Railways..which eventually my father got because my grandfather died on job...
