Whether we're talking about the subreddit Crappy Design or the Instagram account Ugly Irish Houses, the Internet seems obsessed with tasteless crimes against aesthetics and functionality. If you are too, the Twitter account "Cursed Architecture" is right up your alley.

Its hellish content includes strange angles, melting paint, vaguely threatening toilets, stairs that lead to nowhere, and more. Basically, the kind of stuff that architects and interior designers would imagine in a horror-comedy. But believe me, you don't have to be an industry pro to appreciate these pictures. They're so bad, us regular folk will get them as well. Enjoy!

They should have just let the people use the squat toilet... also... how disgusting do you think the inside of the cone is?

Check the door down the hall for a nice stab in the back.

Was this meant to be a suicide door, or was there supposed to be a porch?

Me and my husband's second apartment was like this. As soon as you walked out of the bedroom you walked straight down the stairs, the big problem was that our previous apartment you walked straight out of the bedroom toward the bathroom. During the first few weeks there were a few middle of the night tumbles down the stairs trying to head to the bathroom while still half asleep.

My friend lived in a house who's upstairs was like this when he was a kid.

And... if the landing went all the way across, that first step would be a doozy! 😳

You'll find lot's of houses like this in England, especially in the North.

Maybe a large house that was refitted as a duplex... they just built a wall across the original landing, put in new doorways, & presto! You can charge rent twice!

I believe that this is referred to as "An accident waiting to happen".

It's like the sorting in the factory. You put gap for the desired size and the ones below will fall through. Exactly like this picture. If you can't step over the gap, you'll fall and have to wait to try again.

Lots of old houses in England are like that. They were never designed by an architect just built by developers.

Guarantees you a revolving list of tenants. May find a keeper then you fix the floor.

This is what you get when old (small) homes get combined to a bigger one

Ha! I can jump across the staircase from one bedroom to the other in my old terraced house. In five years I've only fallen once

Very common in UK in terraced houses built around 80-120 years ago. You get used to it; it's normal.

This is common in British houses built about 100 years ago. You get used to it pretty quickly.

How is this so far up? It's neither architecture nor cursed, but just a bad photoshop.

Oh, God - the 70s. You can bet this combo also came in purple, brown and "harvest gold"
