It's a terrible thing to be afflicted with and I do have sympathy for those with the problem, as long as they never act on it. But you can't expect sympathy and understanding from people after the rape of a 5 year old child. I agree prevention should be the goal, but there's probably nothing in this world more likely to make otherwise civilized, reasonable and compassionate human beings homicidal with rage.

I am a survivor as well. And i feel for you and understand your pain. And i agree with your thoughts honestly, just because you want something doesn't mean you should act upon it. Like how when people are mad - doesn't mean they should kill each other. I get having an issue with anything that's helpful for a pedophile, but if psychological help also reduces the number of kids victimized, it seems worth it. Yes, but once they sexually assault a victim, I support a savage beating by the family with a ticket for the victim to give them a save beating whenever they're big enough. Preventative counseling is definitely something we need more of, but once you've raised your first 5 year old, it's a different situation.

Rape victims never get a second chance, their lives are ruined for ever. As for physiological help rape victims can't often afford medical help. Even having gone for years to a physiologist your mind and body is for ever scared from this horrific act. As long as you haven't lived a rape you know nothing about how damaging rape is for a child or adult. Pedophiles should be but to sleep like a mad dog with rabies.

Exactly, also with therapy being more limited these days, and many times expensive, most victims don't get the help they deserve that might give them a chance for a better life. Also I'm all for victims being treated better in all ages too, adults can go through trauma as well, trauma is ageless. And the pedophiles that hurt them even if they're 18 already do not deserve to be all happy and okay. They deserve to suffer.

I think we're all talking about people who rape children. People who just fantasize about it still have time to stop themselves, and, if they're truly good people, should take the initiative to keep themselves away from kids. People who are sociopaths, psychopaths, borderlines and narcissists can also get help to not harm the people around them, and I definitely would never think of them as inherently evil either, as long as they are taking action to improve themselves. No one with mental illness is evil until they hurt someone, and we should all strive to make sure that doesn't happen. This is why I get therapy as someone with a depressive disorder, because I do not want to bring down the people around me or worry them by self harming.

Actually just correcting you there i agree with what you say Naomi, but sociopaths aren't actually bad people, they're simply antisocials that struggle with being part of groups and social situations and can also have spcial anxiety developing when society misunderstands them - they aren't related to pedophilia, and as a sociopath myself who's misunderstood and also having other mental issues such as CPTSD and ADD it's just hard for me when people use that word as a swear word. And borderline is another type of mental issue as well as psychopaths, they're not related to that and most cases would lead a normal ish life that doesn't do such horrible despicable acts

I spent years in therapy because of a pedophile. I was raped before my 11th birthday. I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone who would sexually abuse a child. I can't have kids because of him. This has had an impact in almost every aspect of my life. I'm fine with the lynching fantasies, or whatever other punitive measures seem appropriate to the family of the victim.

Castration? You have no concept of what causes this problem. Pedophiles often aren't acting out of an uncontrollable sexual urge, but a psychological one. Castrate them and they will use object to assault their victims. Psychological counseling is what they need, and if that doesn't fix things, you can't do anything other than lock them away.

How about the death sentence, it's definite and cost much less than keeping them alive. Also once the prison term is over they start all over again. I've since the proof of this. I was a kindergarten teacher, had two little boys in my class who had been raped by their grandfather. They are adults and still struggles to come to terms with the rapes. Their mother since she found out about the rapes has completely gone into a severe depression and has since lived in mental hospital. The whole family has been destroyed.
