Many internet users call Australia the land of the 'NOPE'. But it's so much more than that. Just take a look at the country's subreddit and you'll see what it has to offer.

Physics teachers defending their houses from bushfires? Check. Sexy calendars? Check. Public bike repair stations? You bet. The members of this sub share pictures of pretty much everything that makes Australia the unique patch of land that it is.

Tony Abbott, a former politician who served as the Prime Minister of Australia, has said that "Once people come to Australia, they join the team." So since traveling in real life is still tricky, join Bored Panda on a voyage to the biggest Aussie subreddit on the internet.

Interestingly, Australia is considered the second driest continent after Antarctica. When you look at the busy Sydney harbor or the impressive skyline of metropolitan Melbourne, it seems almost unbelievable that nearly 40% of the continent is uninhabitable.

The lack of rainfall is one of the main reasons why such a huge amount of its landmass is so desolate. The national precipitation for 2020 was 483.4mm (19 inches). For comparison, even California gets about 563mm (22 inches) of rainfall every year.

This arid, uninhabitable part of Australia lies in the middle of the continent (the Outback), away from the coastline. And this is also the reason why more than 80% of the country’s population lives within 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the coast.

Aboriginal Australians first arrived at the Land Down Under from Maritime Southeast Asia sometime between 50,000 and 65,000 years ago. From the rainforests in the north, the deserts in the center, and the sub-Antarctic islands of Tasmania and Bass Strait, they penetrated to all parts of the continent.

In fact, the artistic, musical, and spiritual customs they've created are among the longest surviving such traditions in human history.

The first documented visit to Australia by a European was in 1606. The Dutch explorer Willem Janszoon landed on the western side of Cape York Peninsula and charted about 300 km (186 miles) of coastline.

There are claims of earlier landings by the Portuguese, Spanish, Chinese, Arabs, and Romans, but there is little credible documented evidence.

If there is something that Aussies in today's world are known for, it's their easy-going and friendly attitude. They can put aside stress to appreciate the good things in life that are right in front of them. We're hoping you'll be able to enjoy this list just like that!

You're very nice because I would have soaked card, paper, whatever I was using with something toxic to them, then slid it under cup. I agree spiders are great at pest control outside. Inside, they are the pests. It unbelievable how fast people can be while making wild contortions if they happen to walk through a spider web!! I live on west coast USA, couple of really toxic spiders here, but most just garden spiders. They are all over outside in my yard. So intriguing to examine their intricate webs. I refuse to use insecticide because outside is insects domain. So not spider hater, just prefer them outside.

Awful comments here. People can be so caring towards cute animals and hate the others, just because they look different. Nobody even knows whether this is an actual dangerous (for humans) spider, and still they are ready to suffocate, burn, kill, etc. Imagine they were kittens, that grow up to be very consuming predators, and people talked like that. No upvotes from me.

Looks like a Wolf Spider--Wolf spiders ...venomous but non-aggressive Area of distribution: Australia-wide. Venom toxicity: The bite of the Wolf Spider is poisonous but not lethal. Although non-aggressive, they will bite if provoked and should be considered dangerous to humans. Painful bite: The bite may be very painful. Immediate first aid and medical attention, particularly as to children or the elderly. Spider Identification: The adult Wolf spider is 15 mm to 30 mm in body length; of mottled grey to brown in colour, with a distinct Union Jack impression on it's back. The female Wolf spider carries it's young on it's back. Habitat: The Wolf spider is a ground dweller, with a burrow retreat. This spider has a roving nocturnal lifestyle to hunt their prey and can move very rapidly when disturbed. Commonly found around the home, in garden areas with a silk lined burrow, sometimes with a lid or covered by leaf litter or grass woven with silk as a fence around the rim of the burrow.

No reason to kill her and her babies. Just slide heavy paper (photo paper weight) carefully under mom. Jiggle a little and the babies will climb back onto her back. Tote them outdoors and release them to hunt the pests they prey on.

It’s just a huntsman and if you’re stupid enough to be bitten (non venomous), serves you right for trying to kill it. They eat various insects that you do not really want in your house.

When she get hungry she will eat her children. Slide a sheet of paper under the spiders and then slide a piece of cardboard under the paper holding glass down so they won't escape. Lift and take them out far far far away. Or just feed them to a lizard.

Hello darkness my old friend….. lol.. I’d grab a thing of flammable liquid and pour it everywhere light it and lift the cup. Nice crackling sounds will Insue. This reminds me of a YouTube video I saw a while back... some guy tried to smash a wolf spider with a broom and - clearly he didn't look too close - as the brood of baby spiders she was carrying on her back suddenly dispersed in every direction when he whacked at the thing. I about died laughing when his "one" problem suddenly became a hundred.
