I often find artistic inspiration from the world around me. During the pandemic, my world was drastically reduced to the four walls of my studio. Like many artists, I turned to the internet and I discovered a beautiful muse waiting for me. Weir Farm National Historical Park in Connecticut is a tribute to American art, the creative spirit, and a historic gem. It is the former home of beloved impressionist artist, J. Alden Weir, and now the catalyst for my new painting series.

While painting Weir Farm in my studio using photographs I found online, I was transported back 100 years to the time of J. Alden Weir. The impact of this farm’s landscape planted a small seed in my soul, and it became more than just recording the physical attributes of a beautiful location through my paintbrush.

My artwork of Weir Farm fueled my imagination and perspective. During the pandemic, my art explorations were often painful and lonely but this experience continues to give me a new breath and new artistic breakthroughs. I recently visited Weir Farm for the very first time, and initially it felt like meeting a long, admired hero and quickly became a good, trusted friend.
