Photographer Receives Message From Bride Demanding Her Money Back Because She Supports BLM, Has A Priceless Response To Shut Her Down

Standing in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement is the least anyone can do. But one bride was less than impressed after seeing the BLM post on her photographer-to-be’s Instagram account.

In fact, the bride got so upset she requested a refund for her deposit. The bride called Shakira “not stable enough to complete the job” and said that the couple “would be embarrassed to have her” photograph their wedding, as they were looking for someone who believes “all lives matter.”

But Shakira Rochelle didn’t fall short of words. She responded to the bride with a DM that blew up the internet and won her the hearts of many. The screenshot was posted on Twitter by a person nicknamed “Q” and got a whopping 812K likes and 149K retweets and counting. So let’s take a look at what Shakira said down below in a perfect example of dropping the mic and standing for what’s right, no matter the clients.

This BLM post on Shakira’s Instagram angered the bride so much she demanded a refund

After Shakira’s reply went viral, people were eager to help her photography business

Shakira Rochelle is a 30-year-old wedding, birth, and lifestyle photographer from the Cincinnati area. On her Instagram story posted an hour ago, Shakira stated that “she was hoping to lay low until this frenzy” over the screenshots of her chat with the bride “blew over.”

“But I woke up to something that hurt my soul. There is a photoshopped screenshot circulating stating that coming forward with this story was a business tactic to make profit on the BLM movement.” Shakira called this “the most incredibly absurd thing I have ever heard.”

The photographer explained that the original post started out private until a friend asked if she could share it on social media. “I never had intentions or the desire to go viral for this or anything else,” Shakira stated.

Luckily, the photographer is now booked until winter and is currently not in need of new clients or business.

To any "all lives" people: we say black lives matter BECAUSE OVER YEARS POLICE MADE IT LOOK LIKE THEY DIDN'T by shooting/chocking/tazering black people almost by default. It's hardly rocket science, and I bet you would have similar problems with a slightly more nuanced version like "black lives also matter" because you know in your heart of hearts that your are trying to minimise something you actually know is wrong in the world but dont like to admit to. If that is our of ignorance or actual racism I'll leave up to you to decide.

Ah, Tyler Duffy shows up with his "if "they" didn't commit more crimes"... OK, let's try this again. It's WHO GETS ARRESTED. Who gets the felony over misdemeanor charge. THAT is slanted. READ UP ON SOCIOECONOMICS OF CRIME. Who cops give a warning and who cops arrest is slanted on biases of race, religion, and economic status. Perceptions of who people are is slanted by biases. (E.g., a black man in a Mercedes "must be" a drug dealer or car thief, and not the guy who owns the Mercedes dealership.) .... *sigh* It's not hard to grasp, it really isn't.

Her response was beautiful. She didn't stoop to her client's level by getting angry or resorting to negativity and name calling. The 'wishing you a lifetime of growth' bit was fabulous, but that last line was a pure mic drop moment and I loved it! I just hope she really did donate the deposit.

Saying 'All Live Matter' instead of 'Black Lives Matter' is like demanding that all houses have water sprayed on them, not just the one that's on fire. It takes longer, wastes resources, and it generally unhelpful. Say strong, everyone. You deserve love, health, and a chance. <3

Good on you Phoebe! The GenZ v Millennials article made your generation seem very petty and bitter, but here you are showcasing what I know to be one of the greatest things about young people today. You are not afraid to stand up for other people, even when you know you'll likely be attacked for it by pathetic little trolls. You take the time to educate yourselves on the issues that many adults choose to remain ignorant of, preferring to reinforce their misconceptions rather than admit their mistakes. Our world is facing a lot of problems right now, but seeing the youth response gives me hope that we can overcome them. As Tones and I says, "the kids are comin' for you"!

Black Live Matter concerns us all - every single one of us. If it doesn't affect her it doesn't matter? Selfish, horrible woman. Her job is to take pictures of the wedding with as little possible interaction with the guests. I doubt the photographer will bring it up in casual conversation, if it comes up at all. What does her support of BLM have anything to do with her ability to do her job? The bride sounds like an insufferable human being.

The bride was foolish of course, but too say they'd be embarrassed to have Shakira photograph the event and that she's not stable is just too much. Unless she felt Shakira would be uncomfortable taking pictures of the guests wearing white sheets and pointed hoods.

She was just looking for a reason? Are you suggesting she's not *really* a racist, just pretending to be one to get out of a contract? Because that's an obvious excuse for a non-racist person to choose? Not "we broke up" or "we've postponed" or "my cousin's going to do the photos"? What appalling things do you make up to avoid commitments? "Sorry I can't make the party tonight, it's my shift at the baby-smuggling ring"? Let's just call a racist a racist, shall we?

Hmmm. Has she watched any videos of what the police have done to SPECIFICALLY BLACK PEOPLE? Yeah. I don't think so. And while yes, usually people do say "all lives matter", that's not exactly what message people should be giving at the moment. So, you might want to be careful about the whole "all lives matter" or "black lives matter" thing.

I wonder what this discussion would be about if the name of this movement was "Black Lives Also Matter"? Almost certainly not much different, except the line "All Lives Matter" would have to be taken out of the equation. The fact remains that racism is reality, it is alive and well. The percentages of crimes committed by black people would still be a factor to some people but not to others. All dangerous criminals deserve to be treated appropriately. What is outrageous is that too many minorities, especially black people, are terrorized by police for minor offences, as trivial as a broken taillight. It's understandable that they attempt to flee from "bad-apple' policemen, or are terrified to be handcuffed and taken to the custody. Kneeling on the neck of a handcuffed man for almost 8 minutes, killing him, should outrage any person of any race, but it's not the case. Why? - "Anyone who has no feelings for animals has a dead heart." All animals that is. Start there humanity !!!

Things will change. And not how you hope either. Someone commenting mentioned the social ostracizing of people who are allegedly screaming all lives matter are the one's not wearing masks in costco, when today Costco announced they were relaxing the requirement. You want some lives to matter because of police brutality, but you dont care about others. There will probably be a term for people who think this way soon. But as it is, the rage over any of it wont age well. I never like stories on here (nor anywhere) that blasts people. The all or nothing b******t is boring.

While i do support BLM, i was shocked to find out that the rioters have gone to far. There have been news about black rioters killing their own race. Apparently, a black person drove up to a black dad an his four year old daughter, and shot the dad, right in front of the four year old girl. Another thing i heard was that a black person shot and killed a 8 year old girl! These riots have gone on for long enough! People are dying! Both black and white people! Some even by their own race! You say race war, but do you not realize there is no race war? Even some black people understand that! If there really was a race war, how come the Hispanics and Asians aren't involved? Please make better choices! Have a lovely rest of your day/night.

The best way I saw it describes was on reddit, it if not an exact quote but something to the affect of, "Bob's at a family dinner, everyone gets served besides Bob. It's true that all people matter at the table but it's not changing the fact that Bob has no food.". I thought it was a simpler way to describe it.

Leaving the cause of the issue aside, here in the UK a photographer needs to be very careful about how they word any contact. A 'deposit' is for work yet to be done, so is most often legally refundable, but a booking fee is for work already done and so can be retained. Any contact has to be very explicit as to the nature of any money paid in advance.

"Standing in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement is the least anyone can do." No, I don't support the BLM movement. I know that black lives matter, and I do think we need changes and rethinking of the police departments. Floyd's murder was just that - murder, and I was fully behind everyone protesting that murder (BLM or not). But specifically BLM, no I personally don't support them. It is not a default position, not even for black people. People think, "I think black lives matter, therefore of course I support BLM movement," without even looking at their history, their website, their demands (or lack thereof). As an example, you could be against drunk driving without supporting specfically how MADD goes about it.

BLM activists are not black supremacists; they aren't claiming that black lives matter more than white/other lives. They're just saying that black lives matter AS WELL AS white/other lives. If I speak out against deforestation in the Amazon, that doesn't mean I don't care about deforestation elsewhere, I'm just saying that it's happening a lot in the Amazon, and that's bad. I care about all deforestation. .....However, BLM activists really could have avoided all this "all lives matter" retaliation by thinking about their slogan beforehand. "Black lives matter too" would have a lot fewer people taking offence to it through unwitting ignorance.

This is an example of a shortcoming of the BLM slogan. I have always yelled this issue to anyone who cares to listen:. The slogan is faulty to begin with. When society respected the lives of other people, but apparently black's lives were cheap, they wanted to tell society that their lives are precious as well. They should have said: "BLACK LIVES MATTER TOO". But they didn't. As a result, some people think they mean "Only black lives matter".

This is just another person hopping on the most recent buzz word train and using it for free publicity. The facts are there is no DEFINITIVE proof that the officer is the one that caused Floyd to die because he had fentanyl, which slows ones respiratory system, in his blood as well as a positive test for covid 19. Put all of these together and Floyd could have very well caused his own death with his drug problem. Black lives matter is just as racist as using any racial slur because you are descriminating against all other races by putting black lives ahead of any other life. People are guaranteed the right to peaceful protests but when it became violent it was the government's responsibility to step in and stop it regardless of who is doing it and what it's about. Only when the government fails the people are they allowed to rise up to establish a new government.

Statistics from the Department Of Justice. In 2019 police officers fatally shot 1,004 people, most of whom were armed or otherwise dangerous. African-Americans were about a quarter of those killed by cops last year (235), a ratio that has remained stable since 2015. That share of black victims is less than what the black crime rate would predict, since police shootings are a function of how often officers encounter armed and violent suspects. In 2018, the latest year for which such data have been published, African-Americans made up 53% of known homicide offenders in the U.S. and commit about 60% of robberies, though they are 13% of the population. The police fatally shot nine unarmed blacks and 19 unarmed whites in 2019, according to a Washington Post database, down from 38 and 32, respectively, in 2015. In 2018 there were 7,407 black homicide victims. Assuming a comparable number of victims last year, those nine unarmed black victims of police shootings represent 0.1% of all African-Americans killed in 2019. By contrast, a police officer is 18½ times more likely to be killed by a black male than an unarmed black male is to be killed by a police officer. #BlueLivesMatter #FactsMatter #TruthMatters

"Otherwise dangerous"? And police can say anyone is "Otherwise dangerous". Just because a cop says someone is "Otherwise dangerous" does not mean that they are dangerous . That is a blanket term. And wrong.

But in the US black people have been banned from meetings without any uproar. The KKK never allowed black people to attend. Neither did the American Freedom Party, American Nazi Party, Aryan Nations and all the other fascist and white supremacist organisations that are allowed to exist in the US. And we don't even have to look that far to notice that black people in the US have been systematically been banned for years from things like education, well paying jobs, decent housing, acces to healtcare and voting. Are you really in that idiocy boat that thinks "Black Lives Matter" means Black lives matter more? No you absolute potato, all lives mattering IS A GIVEN. "Black Lives Matter" is saying that they aren't treated as such in this country, and are asking that the color of their skin not be a reason for them to be harassed, have the cops called on them for doing normal things, shot with no provocation, suffocated by cops, and oppressed by a country that can't shake its insanely racist history. It's not a hard concept to wrap even two brain cells around, Ola.

Her job is to take pictures of the wedding with as little possible interaction with the guests. I doubt the photographer will bring it up in casual conversation, if it comes up at all. What does her support of BLM have anything to do with her ability to do her job? The bride sounds like an insufferable human being.
