That's not exactly needless to say - but I'm relieved that's the case.

That was very sweet of them to try and catch her. Haha, what a cute family photo.

Nope. Grew up on a dairy farm with over 200 cows. Birthing calves was a common place event and I don't believe it. Never heard any of them make much noise at all - cows giving birth for the first time, cows having difficulty and needing a vet to help them give birth. Nope.

A 12 year old who 'kept getting refills' of 'spiked lemonade' would do more than 'feel a bit weird towards the end of the night' - I seriously question this one.

A young child reacting to parents or others kissing is understandable and normal but a grown woman having that reaction is childish lol.

The father is a piece of s**t. Even if the bride was a terrible person, the father just f*****g ruined an expensive event and caused his son a s**t ton of problems. What did he accomplish? Also, he isn't the one who has to spend the foreseeable future with her.

yes, that's not nice at all. He shouldn't disrespect women and verbally like that, especially his son's choice and bride. If he has any disapproval he should have discussed or reasoned elsewhere but to publically denounce someone, worse without any reason or cause, i'm sorry but thats senseless.

I'm guessing that dad was just making sure he wouldn't be spending much holiday time with her.

Always 2 sides to the story, could have been shady stuff that happened previously, but no excuse to try and humiliate tje bride like tjat on her day. Sounds like daddy a drama queen grudge holder and booze may had a play in it. Not cool.

What a horrible thing to do. If he felt that strongly about it, he should have said it before the wedding or just not attended.

A bad opinion from someone like this piece of nastiness is actually a compliment. Let's hope the groom takes after his mother. And that the bride protects her children, if any, from contact with this questionable character.

The first time my parents sat down at a formal dinner with me and my husband (then boyfriend) was when we announced our engagement. My father was elated...my mother looked like she was not thrilled, but tried to smile. Later, my sister said my mother was going and telling everyone our marriage wouldn't last a year. Well, happy to say I surpassed her benchmark of 25 years (parent's divorced when I was 17.)

Well, to make any really good judgment about this I would need to know more about the father, was he a conservative person who usually kept his mouth shut, him standing up and saying this was really out of character? Had he devoted his life to his son and felt this woman was far beneath him? And also, is it possible that he found out things about his son’s wife and now knows he is marrying a person who is not a good person at all? Is it possible his son’s wife had come on to him? Or he had seen her with another guy when she didn’t know he was there? There may actually be a good reason, or it may be that this father was very controlling and didn’t approve of his son’s wife because she was poor, not well educated, or any number of things. I would need much more info before commenting.

The thing I don't understand is whether he waited until AFTER the wedding to say this. Had he already talked to his son? If so, and the son knew his father's opinion, the son should have made sure his father didn't go to the wedding and, CERTAINLY, didn't make a toast. I agree with Robin Scheff; more information, especially whether the father had this conversation with his son.

My initial guess not knowing the whole story is that the bride did something so terrible that he couldn’t keep his mouth shut. Did she sleep with the grooms brother? Hook up with the bachelorette party stripper and get caught? It happens...... maybe he already had told his son he was making a terrible mistake but the son was so blind he couldn’t see it or wouldn’t hear it. This is not something I would do but there are a lot of variables that may have led to this. Bet the bride was not a saint.......

Whether the bride is a saint is irrelevant. If the dad had issues with the marriage AT the reception (too late) is not the time. And his choice of words tells me he's just not a nice person regardless of what or who she is.

If I were the bride I would've picked up the mic and said "well, now that the rubbish took itself out, let's party!"

I had a coworker that came in one monday and told us her boyfriend of 4 years proposed to her over the weekend. She said she was unsure if she should say yes. All of us in the office said "If you're doubting if you should say yeas then the answer should be no!" Her philosophy..but I put 4 years into the relationship.. And the Ford Motor company spent years making the Edsel..but it was still the worst car ever made.....

I feel sad for the dad. She must have been a real piece of work, and the son must have wasted everything the man invested into him. I'm not sure why the poor man showed up in the first place. But maybe just to make this point. And he is probably right( knowing parents). His son might discover what he married, once the pink glasses are off.
