Sometimes I'm asked, "If you're married, why don't you wear a wedding ring?" And I'm like... Why should I? I never deemed it neccessary, I don't even have one, since our marriage had no wedding (just documents). It's all nice amd cool if you choose to wear it because, for example, you like the design of it, you're so in love you want thw world to see etc., but why put pressure on somebody to wear it? It makes me think people need a mark to let others know, so they are not approached by any other man/woman. Because, you know, words don't mean what they're semantically supposed to mean (such as "no" for example). It's absurd.

I am a man and I wear my ring all the time. Not as a sign for others to keep off (that's not necessary :-)), only for me... sometimes in stressful moments, I look at it and think "You are a lucky bastard, you have the best wife on this planet" and it cheers me up

I do not wear a wedding ring neither does my husband. We know we are married and that is all that matters. Because I have seen way too many people who have one on and are cheating. It doesn't deter people away. It seems more like a challenge for some to see if they can get in your pants.

Oh for Gods sake, it's a ring. Marriage is not (supposed to be) a prison. Marriage can be hugely rewarding, loyal and loving. Frustrates me to no end how people love to shit all over the idea of getting married even to people who want to.

I know people in days past, saw the ring as a sign of ownership. And the custom of the bride's Father paying for the wedding was part of her dowry. It was like paying the husband for taking responsibility for her support. Today, many couples pay for their own weddings and rings.

It's nice to wear a wedding ring. It's like insect repellent to me (jk (^_-)

Neither my husband nor I wore one for almost 40 years, had to sell the ones we had for grocery money one time. We never bothered to replace them since it just didn't really seem necessary, see the "almost 40 years" part above.

I am a man, and I wear mine all the time.. I even had an engagement ring. Just because I see us both as equals..

I can see this, and have heard stories of friends being in the wedding party, and then after the stress of the entire operation, from announcement to the end of the reception, they become no longer friends.

I personally hate the idea of parents planning their child's weddings. I think it's about the soon-to-be husband and wife, and they should plan it how they want it. After all, people can leave their parents without a wedding.

It is a sad fact that certain individuals do consider it their 'special year' exclusively , i.e. no one else is allowed to even get married in 'their year'. My sister-in-law was told this by her fiance's soon-to-be stepmother. Yes, his soon-to-be stepmother. SMH.
