Bride Sends Her Brother For ‘First Look’ Instead Of Her, And The Groom’s Reaction Is Priceless

Weddings are not only one of the most significant moments of one’s life, they’re also the most stressful. Seeing her groom’s nerves get the best of him, Heidi Zherelyev decided to pull a photo prank on him to brighten up the mood. As soon as the groom Val turned around to take the first look at his bride, it wasn’t Heidi that met his gaze. It was her brother, Eric. “My husband was so surprised, and stunned to see Eric instead of me. Thankfully for him however, he is used to pranks and jokes being pulled in my family” Heidi told Bored Panda. The woman also confessed that the prank was a very intimate moment between the newlyweds, photographer, Eric and one friend, as no one attending the wedding even knew about it until the story went viral.

The groom’s reaction was captured by photographer Nichole Cline. “I was super excited to do their first look in general and when Heidi told me about sending her brother down, it was just the icing on the cake. I have never photographed pranks like this. But I’m sure beings its now a trend, its not going to be my last time.” Nichole told us.

After the story went viral, Heidi shared something exclusive with Bored Panda. “The reason why I chose Eric to dress up,” the woman revealed, “My father passed away when I was 18, and my two brothers were always there. […] My brother Carson was officiating the ceremony, and I wanted Eric to have a special part too.”

Her dress is beautiful! Perfect look for an outdoor wedding. I think her brother would look better in something more a-line. Maybe some lace around the neckline.

"After being eloped for 5 years" <---try switching that to "After having eloped 5 years ago". That will make it flow a little better in English. ;) Great post!

This gave such an insight to the depth of this family's love and caring for each other, the joy they share, and the stand-in bride's lack of inhibitions. These people I'd like to know. The bride, for her creativity, the groom, for his wonderful sense of humor and sensitivity at seeing the dad's boots at the table (such a dear touch.) Again, the brother was amazing and adorable. I wouldn't have changed a thing, except maybe a veil.

1. Wait.. why was there an extra wedding dress? It doesn't take away from the humor, but it had to be planned. 2. Boots at the table. A sweet gesture, but if it were me I would fall into a blubbery mess.. not ideal for a wedding. 3. All still super sweet... I needed a # 3

Very cute! Glad to see the brother and groom get along so well. My big brother was side-eyeing my husband and sizing him up our whole wedding... My brother is 5’7” and my husband is 6’4”; would have been a funny fight.

Why would you be nervous? You've been married for longer than most marriages last these days.

Oh a guy in a dress. How homophobicly hilarious. So lucky that you just happened to bring an old wedding dress along with you. Never know when you need a photoop for the internet.

There's nothing more cliche than a nervous groom. If you think you're marrying the wrong person then don't. If you don't want to be married then don't. And yes, it is that simple.

Oh gosh what an awful assumption. Why can;t someone be nervous if they will come out well in front of their SO? Maybe he's nervous not to embarass himself? Or maybe because it's super important to him? You jumped immediately into negative aspect without any reason. I would be super nervous before my marriage, even though we are nearly 7 years together and are suer to be together to the end.
