‘Cards Against Humanity’ Sends Checks To Their Lowest-Earning Customers And It’s Bringing Attention To Wealth Inequality

‘Cards Against Humanity’ has just proven itself to be, actually, one of the most ‘humane’ companies out there. In a truly Robin Hood-inspired move, they’ve ‘redistributed’ various sums of money to their lowest-earning customers, all at the expense of those earning the most. So, how did they pull it off?

Last month, the brazen game-makers asked their faithful fans to donate $15 in order to help them buy a piece of land straddling the U.S.-Mexico border, which would greatly complicate Donald Trump’s future attempts to build a wall across it. They called it ‘Cards Against Humanity Saves America.’ As it turns out, they’re saving the nation in more ways than one by tackling an even bigger issue – inequality of wealth.

Using a portion of the cash they received, and going off discreet data they collected from donors, they’ve mailed $1000 checks to 100 customers who they deemed to be their ‘poorest,’ and have refunded a further 10,000 the original $15 they offered. Their richest clients, however, received a very different letter in the mail – one notifying them that the $15 they donated helped pay for it all.

Scroll down to see how the campaign is unfolding, and let us know if you’ve received any letters from the folks at ‘Cards.’

And here’s a letter that came with it

“Dear Citizen,

In order to deliver on our promise to save America, we knew we needed to tackle our country’s biggest issue: wealth inequality. The richest 0.1% of Americans have as much wealth as the bottom 90%.

Our lawyers wouldn’t let us pursue our first choice – a campaign to eat all the rich people and live in their houses – so we settled for something more achievable. Today, Cards Against Humanity has redistributed everyone’s wealth.

We’ve got some good news and some bad news. Let’s start with the bad: according to the survey you filled out when you signed up for CAH Saves America, you are one of the poorest 100 recipients. Now for the good news: you’re getting a check for $1,000, paid for by everyone else. Yes, the check is real, and you can actually cash it. To read more about other people who got $1,00, check out CardsAgainstHumanityRedistributesYourWealth.com.

I love you,

Cards Against Humanity

P.S. The next 10,000 poorest recipients got a $15 refund check. But who cares about them.

Others received a refund of the original $15 (base donation) they gave to the company

A large majority of people, however, received this letter, which perfectly explains it all

Redistributing a few bucks to people to whom it is going to make a massive difference is one hell of a lot more classy and charitable than ACTUALLY putting it towards buying a bit of bogus land, which was very funny but clearly a joke. So stop getting your panties in a bunch and smile with the rest of us at how damn clever and awesome these guys are. They brought some much-needed happiness into the lives of people who could really use it. You bitching about it makes you look like a mean petty little man. We got the "you get nothing letter" but no matter... I was giddy with glee that others benefitted from the money I paid to get these 6 envelopes. Each one with a letter and a few CAH cards and sometimes other nifty stickers or such. We contribute to our son's summer camp "campership" program every year so some other kid can go to camp. We'd pay extra for everyone if we could. We're part of the global community and try to help whenever and wherever we can. CAH is amazing!

And we've never had the game and never played... we got into it because they bought up a piece of land to keep the wall from being built on it. THAT was enough... this share the wealth thing is just a bonus.

try going to the CAH site and look at the FAQ's for the promotion. . . if you are a shareholder, they also explain their actions in detail. they did buy the land but are also running other cool social experiments to highlight the injustices that many face in the good old US of A. I'm really pleased to be getting some fresh cards for my CAH deck!

For those of you freaking out about this and calling it stealing. If you actually looked into it or participated in past years you would know they do something like this every year. The customers pay 15 dollars each and they usually receive x number of holiday surprises. This year for $15, customers were able to sign up for Cards Against Humanity Saves America, and received six "America-saving surprises" in the mail. I didn't do it this year because I didn't realize they had one going but in the past it's always strange stuff. Pictures drawn by kids. Photos and bios of some of their staff last year I got several pair of socks. They almost always send several card packs as well so you get your 15 dollars worth of stuff no matter what. I would wager that this stunt was one of the 6 items the participants received.

That was so sad to read that many of them paid medical bills from that money, especially because U.S.A. it is a first world country. But it was so good that the most of them was happy about the money but in the term happiness they mean they could make happy the people around them. Especially at christmas times. Respect!

This is total BS. "Oh, we're going to save America by trying to break down the government and our president because he's offensive... He might hurt someone's feelings because he's so rich and others so poor... You know why a lot of people in poverty are in poverty? Drug addiction. Not someone building up a company and getting the fruit of their hard work... If you're so angry about these rich people, then stop buying the "new" phone every time it comes out. You people pick on the ones who actually do something without acknowledging that you, too, support it!

Ironic. You wrote that this was all wealth redistribution, but then called the recipients "lucky" and the entire act charitable. So is it welfare, pure luck of the draw that 1000 CAH fans received a check like a bonus for being poor? Or is it true wealth redistribution? Because it sounds a lot like taxes to me.

People who can't afford basic necessities? If you can't afford basic necessities, then you shouldn't be able to afford a $20 board game and a $15 donation to avoid a wall to keep illegal immigrants out of the country. That said, I can certainly appreciate a game manufacturer/originator who gives back to those who might need it. And then, in the spirit of the game, doled out insulting letters to the "richer" of the folks who also bought their game and donated money to their cause? Alrighty then. You made your dime, so why not insult a few citizens who work for a living? Sure...why not? LOL

Nice, but things like inability to travel, buy presents, spend on a wedding is not a definition of poor. Not having basic necessities like a place to live, food, clothes, clean water, transportation, heat in winter, healthcare or ones health failing and not having the money, help, or proper care, are the real defining factors. My parents have not seen me or my kids only once in 10 yrs because of costs. My dad is afraid he will not see us again before he dies. I have MS, my daughter had two major leg surgeries, lots of healthcare bills we can't afford, can't afford her college next year and short in financial aid money. But we do have a place to live, heat, transportation, food, clean water, c!othing so I count my blessings.

How is taking donations from other people and not using your own money to do the "refunds" make it humane? If they actually gave a s**t they would have used their own money from their 1% pocket and did this on their own.

True liberal heroes. They lied about what the money would be used for, duped smucks into donating 15$, claiming it was to buy a piece of land to let ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS flood into the US, circumventing trumps border wall (by the way, the government would just seize this property) then gave other peoples money to poorer people! hooray! Oh wait they lied and this isn't going to make a drop of difference. There are 360 million people in the US and a thousand dollars is like one month of bills maybe? So a hundred people catch a small break after you lied and siphoned off donated money. Best part is they aren't even using their own money! Liberals really only ever redistribute OTHER PEOPLES wealth. Are the makers of cards against humanity not rich yet? Should we eat them and live in their house and redistribute their wealth?!?!? Oh wait this is just EMPTY VIRTUE SIGNALLING and you can tell- because they didn't give of their own time and money!

I take no position on whether it was right or wrong to use the money to help the people that they determined were underprivileged. But, that said, there are legal ramifications regarding taking donations and using it for a undisclosed purpose, it’s called fraud.. Ben is right as far as the legality of it, he is just using the wrong terminology. Things like this happen and people go to jail for it. It just happened to a politician for starting a charity and using as a personal slush fund( she got 5 years and her co- conspirators received less time for pleading out) fraud is fraud, it’s just a question if someone will bring it to the attention of the authorities. I glad the money the people received was truly appreciated.

F**k right off. I would sue them for my $15. I'm not kidding. I've played the game, I loved it (and absolutely laughed my a*s off), but this is such a d**k move I can't believe it. You can't just take charity donations for a specific cause and then do something else with them. The worthiness of the cause is absolutely irrelevant. The balls of people to say this is okay. You a******s are the biggest hypocrites ever. You only think this is "okay" because you happen to like where the money is going. Would you be okay with this if the money went to a cause you didn't believe in at all? Think about it.

You can't sue anyone over a freaking donation. I'm pretty sure anyone who did donate knew exactly what kind of people they were donating to. Of course people would find a way to make this nice gesture something awful. Did you see how happy people were about their $1000? I can't imagine being so f*****g selfish that I would try to "sue" someone or be that upset over $15.

Listen up people: the ends don't justify the means if what you're doing is wrong. Just because you like where the money ended up doesn't mean it wasn't taken under a false guise. That's fraud, FFS. I don't get how people can't see that what's shameful behaviour for your enemy should be shameful for your friends. If we all went by "the ends justify the means" we'd all be able to do absolutely anything we want and it would literally be chaos. The cognitive dissonance here is stunning.

Did you even read the initial page that people signed up for? The $15 was not just for the wall land. It was for a number of surprises spread across December. The Wall land was just the first one. The redistributing is another. Get your facts straight before you start spewing nonsense about lawsuits.

Um, saving America?? America does NOT need to be saved. AND, ANYONE, through dedication, hard work, or simply a brilliant idea can become wealthy here! EVERYONE has that opportunity! Even if you make something that costs $2 and sell it to a couple million people you are well on your way! In MANY other countries tho, the caste you are born into, is pretty much where you will stay.

How awesome! Good to see these actions and people in dire need being helped...It made me happy to read peoples' messages. Thank you to People like this: it makes a difference. I'm not sure I understood something: are they really buying land near the Mexican border to prevent the building of that wall? and who is doing it?

If they actually gave a s**t they would have used their own money from their 1% pocket and did this on their own.

except there is no wealth inequality at all. your personal wealth is directly tied to HOW MUCH WORK YOU DO AND HOW SMART YOU ARE. get a f*****g clue and get off your a*s if you're in the bottom 90% and make yourself into the top .1% if that is what will make you happy. otherwise f**k right off.

I'm not poor either. So does this mean that Cards Against Humanity isn't buying the border property after all? LOLOL I'm sending my thousand dollars to the "Trump Build the Border Wall" foundation.

If CAH is so concerned about people not having money, why don't they just their stuff away for free? What happens when they run out of money? “The trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money” — Margaret Thatcher
