Yesterday was International Women's Day. In celebration of everything awesome that women have achieved over the years we decided to illustrate 10 of the most iconic ladies of all time from around the globe.

From the lady who won UK women the right to vote back in the 1920s to the teenager campaigning for girls' right to education in Pakistan, we think these 10 females from around the world have kicked ass throughout history to the present day.

For your brains, bravery and brilliance - we salute you!

I raise my voice not so I can shout, but so that those without a voice can be heard. We cannot succeed when half of us are held back - Malala Yousafzai

Good advice. But what if your gestures become just a burden? And you decide to give it a try anyway, so you ask how you can help somebody, and then they refuse.

This is such an interesting quote for me, because at 27, I still don't find it in me to refer to myself as a woman. I don't know why, but I just feel more comfortable using "girl". Guess I still have some growing up to do? Or a complete re-evaluation of what being a woman means to me.
