Guy Hides Camera In Bucket Of Water To See Who Comes To Drink, And Result Doesn’t Disappoint
A video showing desert critters secretly filmed approaching a water bucket to quench their thirst is going viral. We see different creatures, from bees, to chickens, to a donkey and a rabbit. The video was uploaded by John Wells from The Field Lab, a Southwest Texas alternative energy and sustainable living field laboratory.
“I was pleasantly surprised during the edit to see that George [the rabbit] made an appearance. I know him from all the other rabbits because of the tiny notch in his ear.” The guy was quick to add: “Note: The swimming bees were rescued.”
John Wells, who moved from New York to almost ‘the middle of nowhere’ to purchase an off-grid lifestyle, is already known in certain ecology-conscious circles for managing to build a modern house with solar energy and composting for just $1600. He might be far away from the city crowds, but, with such cute critters coming to visit, he surely doesn’t get a chance to feel alone.

His short film is enchanting. I'm positive little children would enjoy it and it'd be a cool, cool way to teach them about water, without things becoming preachy, etc. And no....I'm not 12 years old..... ;)
that's what i was thinking too. for some reason i thought they drank like dogs... i was wrong.
Load More Replies...Beautiful. Water is life. It sickens me to think some buffoon wants to build a huge wall along the Rio Grande that will literally deprive animals and critters the ability to drink water from the river. Millions of animals will die of thirst if that wall is built. There has to be a better way!
i already think the wall is a terrible idea but i hadnt even thought of that aspect :(
Load More Replies...Thank you for the compliment that I agree with; I rescued a bee on 5/19/17 by opening a door of a truck the bee was inside flying against a closed window thereby allowing it to escape into the wild. We need bees!
Load More Replies...Wonderful! I sure hope whoever put the water out for the animals continues to do so.
we know how wonderful it is to watch a pup after 10 plus years on a chain finally tasting freedom....this is BLACK DOG outside on a chain the ten years we knew of yet uncounted more prior to us watching this freedom is indescribable Black-Dog-...e4907a.jpg
And humans can't even share with each other. Beautiful video, such a calming effect.
This is wonderful! Seeing the roosters take turns drinking was charming.
What a great video. Plus I just read about how to provide water for bees to avoid having to perform bee rescue several times a day: https://www.treehugger.com/lawn-garden/make-watering-hole-bees-your-bee-friendly-garden.html
I absolutely thought this video was awesome and I felt sorry for the bees too I'm glad they got saved
AND nobody fights for the territory, they all share it! We should learn from the animals big time! Loved the chickens, first one goes, then the other and they wait for their turn lol
Sorry to burst your bubble, but you can tell by background buildings in a few of the shots that hes changing locations. What kind of field do you think has donkeys, cows and chickens? I purposely planted these in open enclosures i bet. Looks nice none the less.
Load More Replies...this video is truly mesmerizing. so many different species and all need water
These animals are adorable! I kinda hoped there'd be curious baby ducks (I don't even know why I hoped that) to jump inside the bucket and see them swim. <3
It is DANGEROUS to have deep buckets in your yard when it comes to birds the can, and do, drown.
Bees drown when submerged in water if there is no ladder to climb on to get out. Although they drink water, they find puddles to drink from.
Cool.. Would LOVE to know how he managed to build his place for so little money. Would love to do the same if I could get a piece of land.
Loved the chicken, as if they were looking at the camera...but the mouse was the coolest <3
He can't be too far off the grid if he has an underwater camera, editing software and access to the internet, yes?
Why is the cow so suspicious of the bucket of water? Lol The way he stares at it! Haha
This is why you put rocks into water sources: so that bees, butterflies, and other insects can land on something near enough the water so they don't drown.
To Valentijn 101--do you have to make everything that is beautiful into your way of creepiness? This was beautifully done.
Was small to big necessarily the order? I am thinking he edited the order to point out that all creatures great and small appreciate water!
Is it possible for diseased critters to pass along to others drinking the same water, just curious..
Purchase an off-grid life style? Why don't you purchase a proof-reading class?
