Rental apartments: “Kinda want to decorate the walls, nail this and that to the wall, but ahhh already thinking about how I need to fix the wall when moving out and will it danger my deposit? All that deposit money.” Those were the typical thoughts I used to have when thinking if I should paint on the walls or hang up some framed prints. Until I got some tape.

I discovered paper based tape for myself while living in yet another rental apartment in Berlin. The huge white walls in my room were beautiful but oh so empty and bland. So I picked up the tape rolls and I made my first tape mural right there in my bedroom. I loved the texture of the tape and how straight were the lines. My flatmate was laying on the bed just watching the process. He described it as calmingly mesmerizing. It was all great – the process, the outcome, the feeling. Since then I have been taping walls in multiple countries, homes with and for different people. When I first started I didn’t think much of what it all means and where am I going with this but today I know that it was the beginning of something magical (more info: Facebook).
