Age is not a "mod" any more than gender or race are. I see where you're going with your comment and it's a start, but you're still centering youth, and that's ageism.

I was concerned about the size of the feet in a lot of these drawings, as a larger woman, I also have large feet, and yet I know large women that have smaller feet. As these characters aren't next to each other so we can see them proportionately its hard to say if she and others have exceptionally small feet, or if it is a result of "foreshortening". Foreshortening happens in art and photography, when a limb or body part is turned away from, or directly towards the eye of the artist, or camera. It can have some very strange effects, totally distorting the proportions of things.

I'm so glad that another person has read and heard about the Dinotopia series. I used to love looking at the illustrations when I was younger and having my parents read me the stories (I believe the author has a fairly new book out now). This badass warrior woman does remind me of a character from the pages of Dinotopia.

Dinotopia is also an 6 hour miniseries. Very enjoyable.

Look up dinotopia on Abe books dot com :-) Now I have to get them for my grandchildren! And SOOO inexpensive :-) (used books)

Their are several wonderful Dinotopia books by James Gurney. The artwork is magnificent and you do not have to be a little kid to enjoy it. The TV film and mini-series are also terrific and follow the books pretty closely. He also did some beautiful US Postage Stamps called the World of Dinosaurs.
