Tired Of Social Distancing, Corgi Hugs Every Friend He Meets On His Walks
30Kviews
At first glance, 1-year-old Wallace may seem like your typical (and extremely adorable) corgi. Which is already more than great, don’t get me wrong. But if you were ever to take this good boy for a walk, soon enough, you’d notice that there’s something quite unique about this good boy.
Wallace likes hugs. A LOT. Turns out, whenever Wallace is out for a walk and happens to meet his friends, he can’t help but hug them. “He is very playful and beyond sweet,” the corgi’s owner told Bored Panda. “He loves to cuddle and give hugs and kisses. He ONLY hugs his friends and family. He does not hug random dogs. I want to stress that he is not showing dominance when he does this. It’s really love.”

Wallace loves hugging all of his friends despite their size

Before giving his friend a hug, Wallace always makes sure they’re okay with it by sniffing them first. “His little cousin Milo is a cavapoo. He won’t hug her because she is afraid so he just kisses,” the owner explained. What a respectful little guy!

And it absolutely doesn’t matter how big or how small a dog is. If the good boy he met is a smaller one, Wallace tries his best to be gentle so he doesn’t scare them. When it comes to larger doggies, Wallace fearlessly comes up to them, stands up on his hind legs and gives them a warm hug.

“He first hugged his friend Charlie and we were blown away. They were hugging and kissing. Then he did it to a few other dogs he knows well and we realized it was a ‘thing,'” the owner told Bored Panda.
“We think it’s hilarious, but so happy he makes so many people smile,” the owner told us

“He is from a breeder in Michigan. Normally we rescue dogs, but my son went to Corgi Beach Day in California several years ago and started our obsession with corgis,” the owner explained.
Turns out, Wallace is as affectionate with his family members as he is with other dogs

Apparently, this short-legged cutie is as affectionate with his family members as he is with other dogs. “We feel sooo lucky to have such a little lover boy. No joke that his middle name is Casanova. When we saw he had a heart-shaped nose as a baby, we just knew he’d be a sweetie,” the owner told us.

Here’s what people on the internet are saying about this cutie

THIS WAS THE CUTEST THING I HAVE EVER SEEN TODAY
Can I hug Wallace?
After he's hugged all the dogs!! My tiny dog would love him.
Wallace is a human reincarnation, that little wiggle butt walk so cute!!
as cute as that is, it isn't really a hug the way humans know it. It is a show of dominance. and the fact that the other dogs allow him to show this dominance is the amazing thing. :D
dominance in dogs is a myth. it is not how they think nor behave. as part of my job working with dogs I was trained by a dog behaviorist.

Thank you. It's a common behavior for the dogs, who wants to challenge another dog - not always for dominance, but for a play etc. This "hug" also was heavily encouraged by the owners. I wonder how people could live with the dogs and doesn't understand their behaviors even basically.

It's not really "dominance", sometimes they are on top, sometimes not, even in the same session of play if the dogs are well socialized. I upvoted you after posting and seeing that your comment is the only one who is not anthropomorphist. I rarely post on animal things here because i get a lot of downvotes for telling facts as a behavior scientist, because people think it's cute and don't dare to tell them that in fact this is not.

This dog is very cautious before he proceeds to "dominate" other dogs.

sick, and tired of that corgi fashion. it incitates people to buy pure bred. while millions of animals are waiting in shelters. Corgis, corgis, corgis everywhere x)
We have the best of both worlds, a corgi mix from a shelter. Looks similar to Wallace but more uniformly butterscotch. Corgis still look like they should, can still herd animals, become pregnant and give unassisted birth.
I can't cope anymore with that. I saved a rabbit, a bucks for the "sellers" refuge. No it was a doe, adult one more than a year old. I had to neuter her as an adult, and spending a lot of time to make her almost tamed, i love her and spend 2000 euros since i greated her in my family. Because some people thinks it's nice for a rabbit to have no nose. But rabbits needs place for their teefies. She has a lot of problems and she suffers a lot because some human thinks it's cuuuuute! I have to dig in for 3 weeks, and i get a vet who is golden about rabbits, awarded by https://rabbitwelfare.co.uk/ I'm never getting any animals from a shelter now, because they don't care about animals, or they don't know which is more harmful 20201010_2...ed20d2.jpg
i just posted this answer to "i want a corgi!": "Yes great! Achondroplasia is great, hip dysplasia is great, retinal atrophy is great, myelopathy is great, anemia and blood clotting troubles are great! If you do think that all these things are great, great for the dog and for you as an owner to take care of it and the medical costs, this is ok. If you don't, don't have a corgi."
And i'm not into shelters anymore since my last cat spend less than a year with me because the shelter "sell it" (yes they sell, in France at least to pay advertising) with scab, i noticed before taking him that it was not "a scratch from a battle"and i didn't care about scab, but he was at the last stage on pulmonary cancer. I noticed right away that he did not breathes correctly, for almost a year i told the awfull vet, then spend more than 4000 euros to try to help him, and finally just kill him. He had the luck to encounter me, he was a black cat, a really great cat and i was graduating on animal behavior, he died while i was wrinting my paper, ON HIM HELPING ELDERLY PEOPLE WITH BRAIN TROUBLES, before seeing that he had a "highest honors mention" from academics for his work. And he went to university with me "i want to bite this mouse!". mms_im10-5...53b68a.jpg
You are not into shelters, I'm into shelters, I want those poor animals have good homes and love they never had. You rather support greedy, heartless breeders? There's no such a thing as good breeder when thousands of animals are destroyed. The pure breeds have more health problems than mutts.
a couple of things: - some animals in shelters are loving furballs. and their disease if they have one is not their fault but because of bad treatment. So because they had a bad owner you'd want to let them die in misery? pretty selffish... - yes rabit need to work their teeth constantly. any responsible rabbit owner knows that. it's very easy to paliate this. Give them fresh carrots. very good for their mental health also - and least but most important. if you want to definitely end with animal abuse you need to create a special status (similar to handicapped, or young kids) for animals. and this is very few, if not at all, compatible with an animal breeding system
Jean-Paul B.M, could you mansplain more please? I spend 7 years at uni and you are telling me that i'm wrong. Sorry babe i tell the truth, kiss kiss bang bang

This is so cute!! God knows we all need this sort of feel good story at the moment. I also love the little corgi who does the sweet little AWOOO after she finishes eating. So precious that my heart swells!
It's just a normal dog behavior and a clickbait about corgis and covid, come on? Every dog is a "hugger", it's just the "who is the boss" notorious game between dogs. "i'm too young i have to surrender" 20180617_1...21dc1e.jpg

We didn't get our bulldog and dachshund because they were cute, we got them because they were rescues. (Though they are pretty adorable) We are very aware of the health disorders that come with them. Our bulldog is deaf and the one we had before him has one eye and eventually got a tumor. All dogs have their illnesses. I think corgis are cute but I probably wouldn't get one. If I did, it would be a rescue or a sheltie that needed help. Yes, rescues also have a chance of diseases due to their terrible backgrounds but my current dogs only suffer minor illnesses. They are pretty old and we take good care of them. Besides, you shouldn't judge someone because they want a corgi. Maybe they just want a sweet doggy friend.

Have had corgis for over 20 years and never had any with these diseases, get from reputable breeders. All breeds have their inherited diseases.

We need more of Wallace in the world every day, a lot more.

Quite adorable
Wallace is an awesome pupper! I would love a hug too!!

What a lovable doggie 🐶
All those documents saying dogs don't like being hugged... I'm beginning to disbelieve that.
Don't try this at home. I tried this and I ended up having the cops called on me and tested positive for Covid-19
