If you’ve been on the internet long enough, or are a proud servant of feline overlords, you will know that cats are king (or queen).
But if you’re in neither of the above mentioned categories, there’s an amazing example of just how strong the feline influence can be when it comes to pet-owner relations.
A now open letter has been circling around online regarding two ladies who have acquired a blender, three cats who have commandeered said blender along with all of its brand-new contents, and the conflict that ensued.

So, at the beginning of the new year, on January 3rd, a woman by the name of Jessica Gerson-Neeves took to Facebook, specifically the Vitamix in Canada Facebook page where she posted an open letter to Vitamix regarding an odd request she has. In great detail, mind you.
And this one woman shared just how immovable a cat may be, even asking the blender brand to help them out

The story goes that she and her partner bought a Vitamix blender. However, it’s been two and a half weeks since they did so and they were unable to use it at all. Not even unpack it. The reason being that their 3 lovely cats Max, George, Destroyer of Worlds, and Lando Calrissian have taken it over.
As soon as they plopped the box down on the kitchen floor and left it for one second, the trio introduced themselves and effectively began playing “king of the hill” with it. “And that was the beginning of the end,” said Jessica in her Facebook post.
And no, it’s not to have the cats blended, you silly goose, it’s to get their sturdy boxes that they use as packaging

For weeks, the box has been occupied by at least one cat at all times. And of course they can’t shoo the cats—that is just preposterous! Pictures and updates of the struggle kept on finding their way onto the Facebook group THIS CAT IS C H O N K Y, where it gained quite a following. And the whole deal even got its own name: The Great Vitamix Incident of 2021 and/or Appliancegate.
Anywho, the couple decided to get in touch with Vitamix. But requesting a whole new unit, let alone three, would have been a ridiculous idea, and they’ve admitted that. Nae, they went for a much simpler solution by asking for empty blender boxes, the same ones as they have the exact appeal and sturdiness.

They were very apologetic, even ashamed, calling their request odd, but desperate. But, all of it didn’t matter as Vitamix heard their plea and responded, not only reassuring that they did the right thing, but also promising to get them some boxes because they ought to be able to enjoy their blender, after all.

This wholesome exchange became an instant success online, garnering over 11,000 likes with nearly 4,000 shares on just this post alone. There were also heaps of likes on each of the different posts Jessica got in the Facebook group with the different stand-offs she had with her cats.

Maybe put some treats out for them and when they run for the treats take the box take the vitamix out and put back the empty box really fast so they wont notice. Sometimes i have to leave my amazon boxes out for days because i dont want to upset the furbabies. Usually Moe will demolish it after 5 or 6 days anyway. His big butt squishes em or he shreds em. Sasha will just perch on them.
I thought of that, but the perch is maybe too tempting. I would perhaps just pick up the box and put it on the counter. Usually messing with the object helps.

LOL! Its so true, and this is so 😂! It's definitely very hard to remove one cat determined to claim what they want around the clock without getting a hiss, nor an unusual scratch😄! I can't imagine dealing with (3) of them ganging up on you. Cats own humans. LOL! Not the other way around! Am I the only person that thinks that an obese cat is not "chonky" and amusing, it's unhealthy and will shorten it's life. It makes me sad to see it becoming normalised.
Unfortunately my cats are naturally chonky. They eat a small amount of food which I measure out every day. They are just big boned :p

One can't take it out of the box when there is always at least one cat on the box. They've tried luring them off with treats, checking in the middle of the night...it doesn't matter. There is always a cat. They now have one decoy box set up, but the one true box remains occupied.

Thought I was the only one crazy enough to have that many! I actually have more but some are at my other house, and these all just my "pets". I also take care of many feral kitties and strays. Used to be about 50 but it's went down a lot. I met a lady around the corner from me who has 14 cats and I was so excited lol (because I also know they are extremely well cared for).

I love this story, because I am in similar situation, only mine is a vaccum box, it is empty, but I had plans for it, but I get attacked everytime I try to take it. So I gave in.
Luv Vitamix! I had to unbox mine outside, I was actually thinking for a change. Although I did get the stare of death for a few hours after. Strong enough to get a few other boxes. But then we had 20 cats at the time and only two of us. So it was for our own health.

"Oh, this is Your Pillow? Well then you won't mind if we SHARE it will ya? Yeah didn't think so!" As said cat literally steals 95% of my Queen size pillow for herself leaving me with a small portion of that pillow for my head... It's only that's not enough for her, Ooh no!! Nope, then she feels the need to get right up into my face and pat my nose with her paw or lick my face; what ever her mood is at the time. This in turn has me moving my head back, putting my neck and head in a very uncomfortable position just to keep my nose & face from miss pest's alot! Does That stop her? Nope, lol never! Its a nightly battle and my husband just laughs then tells me I'm Weird! 😂🐾🐱

The best companies are the ones who have a sense of humor and go out of their way to show customer appreciation. Whomever was behind this definitely deserves some sort of award for excellence.
Anyone who has ever had cats know that the cats own us,they are very patient and look down upon us in disgust.After all who scoops who's poop ? Who can shred a brand new piece of furniture and very little to no reprocussion ? CATS can and will do as they please and make us fawn all over them.
This is exactly the correct way to handle the situation. The replacement boxes must be filled with the equivalent weight of a Vitamix machine. Otherwise the cats will not accept the fraudulent replacenta.
I love how some people in these comments can't see that this is meant to be funny... But you have to think about how if the owners open the box and take out the VitaMix, it won't be as sturdy and unless they either tape it back up or turn it upside down (which the cats might not like), they've basically destroyed a perch their cats really like. So if they can get three more boxes, that means the cats won't have to fight over it. :)
The MAL have already thought of that too. The boxes came flat packed, so they have to strategise a way to weigh them down and make them structurally sound before presenting them to the cats. What they hoped would be a quick fix is taking a few days (especially since they are also under the weather right now).

They did. However the MALs have been under the weather so they have only been able to get 1 ready. They have to fill them to weigh them down and make them structurally sound. So far cats have been spotted on the box of lies, but the one true box remains constantly occupied.

Cats ideal position is looking down on the definitely inferior human race. They like to raise themselves up in the world. Also looking up at humans all the time not only makes them feel inferior it gives them a crock in the neck.

A well constructed box is priceless! My son spent the first 4 years of his life playing in boxes if all sizes. He loved big, paper towel boxes that we painted and cut windows in and would have to replace them as soon as they become damaged. His cats played along in every box. The Vitamix box story is hilarious and I loved the updates and pics. Vitamix was great to play along!
I would have gave the temptations treat box a vigorous shake 🤝 and they (6) would all come running leaving any and everything behind , at that point I would have removed ved box and taped it back hut all with superhero speed, replacing the throne before any members of the rat pack gained knowledge of my evil deed 😾
Meanwhile, dog owner shoves dog off box, dog views this as play and enjoys it exactly as much as he enjoyed sitting on box. Owner makes smoothie. Dog licks up ingredients that spill. Everyone is happy.
I have multiple spoiled cats. I gently shake a can with a few coins to make them stop doing something like clawing furniture. I very seldom use a squirt bottle, but I would have in this instance. My cats are very spoiled, but I'm the alpha cat.
I love my kitties, but if I were in the same predicament, I'd simply take the darn thing out of the box, put some bricks in there and leave the box around. Am I crazy? Inconsiderate? Let me also say this: my cat has been peeing on my bed as revenge for something. We get to have luxurious fresh bedsheets everyday because of that. We try but he is a sneaky bastard. That's to point out that I too do stupid things for my cats.

I love This Cat is Chonky, hands down one of my favorite Facebook groups. This is epic and hilarious! As someone who has a cat, we are currently in a box battle with the Christmas tree, Ivy is sad the holidays are over and she is demanding the tree back.
And here I thought I was being a slave to my cat. But I would've just picked her up and given my husband a couple of seconds to get the appliance out and set her back on top. Three weeks later all the scars would be healed and all would be well again. Not nearly as entertaining, I know.
I hope they get to unpack their blender soon. I have that very model and it's absolutely fantastic.

Very funny, but...seriously, there isn't a box in the universe they'd also sit on? That's un-catlike. The box is the highest place in the kitchen. They're in the kitchen a lot. So, the cats want to be up high, and where Homans are. Get them a cat tree or two. They'll live if you open the box and I bet you're not storing the Vitamix in that box for all eternity, so you will have the empty box. Every Amazon box I get is my cats new favorite thing to sit on. All you needed to do was go to Walmart and buys a $20 Oster Blender, cover the name with a piece of tape and write Vitamix, and place at other end of house. Then you partner stands with the box and go psst psst psst, which will send them running to see the "Trojan Vitamix"...then you hurry and empty the real Vitamix box and then place it back before Soccer Chonk returns. Return Oster blender to Walmart and use refund to buy kitty treats. PROBLEM SOLVED!

I would have fed them in a different room with a door and close the door once I get 2 cats. Then taking a broom move the box around and try to push the cat off. Or wait until the lone cat is hungry and willing to go to a different room for food while keeping the first 2 cats in their room. Or put the 3rd cat into a carrier. Cats just need their cat litter box and food and water to stay in one room.
I would have gotten a water bottle sprayer or broom or anything to swat at the cats and take the damn box!!! Not that hard !! Get more people over there to distract the cats while you swat the current one off the box !!!

Any person who lives with cats knows this struggle is real; It's Real I tell ya!! 😂😂 Boxes, chairs, laps; your bed, pillows...nothing is safe from our fluffy, fury feline queens(or kings)! "Oh, this is Your Pillow? Well then you won't mind if we SHARE it will ya? Yeah didn't think so!" As said cat literally steals 95% of my Queen size pillow for herself leaving me with a small portion of that pillow for my head... It's only that's not enough for her, Ooh no!! Nope, then she feels the need to get right up into my face and pat my nose with her paw or lick my face; what ever her mood is at the time. This in turn has me moving my head back, putting my neck and head in a very uncomfortable position just to keep my nose & face from miss pest's alot! Does That stop her? Nope, lol never! Its a nightly battle and my husband just laughs then tells me I'm Weird! 😂🐾🐱
This is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time. Congratulations gatos for taking over the house and hurray for their humans who seem to thrive on humor! Now, I must go check out this Vitamix gadget...I love to support companies that support their customers.
The best companies are the ones who have a sense of humor and go out of their way to show customer appreciation. Whomever was behind this definitely deserves some sort of award for excellence.
Anyone who has ever had cats know that the cats own us,they are very patient and look down upon us in disgust.After all who scoops who's poop ? Who can shred a brand new piece of furniture and very little to no reprocussion ? CATS can and will do as they please and make us fawn all over them.
This is exactly the correct way to handle the situation. The replacement boxes must be filled with the equivalent weight of a Vitamix machine. Otherwise the cats will not accept the fraudulent replacenta.
I love how some people in these comments can't see that this is meant to be funny... But you have to think about how if the owners open the box and take out the VitaMix, it won't be as sturdy and unless they either tape it back up or turn it upside down (which the cats might not like), they've basically destroyed a perch their cats really like. So if they can get three more boxes, that means the cats won't have to fight over it. :)
The MAL have already thought of that too. The boxes came flat packed, so they have to strategise a way to weigh them down and make them structurally sound before presenting them to the cats. What they hoped would be a quick fix is taking a few days (especially since they are also under the weather right now).

Cats just love boxes, even if they aren't open. I'm still trying to figure out why my cat loves the box my TV wall mount came it and I haven't opened it yet.

They did. However the MALs have been under the weather so they have only been able to get 1 ready. They have to fill them to weigh them down and make them structurally sound. So far cats have been spotted on the box of lies, but the one true box remains constantly occupied.

Pissy cats: How much longer do we have to sit on this freakin’ box before they get the hint and buy us a deluxe scratching post. The taller the better on that one ladies. Cats ideal position is looking down on the definitely inferior human race. They like to raise themselves up in the world. Also looking up at humans all the time not only makes them feel inferior it gives them a crock in the neck.

A well constructed box is priceless! My son spent the first 4 years of his life playing in boxes if all sizes. He loved big, paper towel boxes that we painted and cut windows in and would have to replace them as soon as they become damaged. His cats played along in every box. The Vitamix box story is hilarious and I loved the updates and pics. Vitamix was great to play along!
I would have gave the temptations treat box a vigorous shake 🤝 and they (6) would all come running leaving any and everything behind , at that point I would have removed ved box and taped it back hut all with superhero speed, replacing the throne before any members of the rat pack gained knowledge of my evil deed 😾
Meanwhile, dog owner shoves dog off box, dog views this as play and enjoys it exactly as much as he enjoyed sitting on box. Owner makes smoothie. Dog licks up ingredients that spill. Everyone is happy.
I have multiple spoiled cats. I gently shake a can with a few coins to make them stop doing something like clawing furniture. I very seldom use a squirt bottle, but I would have in this instance. My cats are very spoiled, but I'm the alpha cat.
I love my kitties, but if I were in the same predicament, I'd simply take the darn thing out of the box, put some bricks in there and leave the box around. Am I crazy? Inconsiderate? Let me also say this: my cat has been peeing on my bed as revenge for something. We get to have luxurious fresh bedsheets everyday because of that. We try but he is a sneaky bastard. That's to point out that I too do stupid things for my cats.
and thats prolly one reason why they havent done just that... retribution from not one but three... fresh sheets 3 times a day every day, not to mention the damage to their mattress... lol

I love This Cat is Chonky, hands down one of my favorite Facebook groups. This is epic and hilarious! As someone who has a cat, we are currently in a box battle with the Christmas tree, Ivy is sad the holidays are over and she is demanding the tree back.
And here I thought I was being a slave to my cat. But I would've just picked her up and given my husband a couple of seconds to get the appliance out and set her back on top. Three weeks later all the scars would be healed and all would be well again. Not nearly as entertaining, I know.
I hope they get to unpack their blender soon. I have that very model and it's absolutely fantastic.

So, the cats want to be up high, and where Homans are. Get them a cat tree or two. There is literally always a cat on the box. They take turns. When one leaves to use the litter box, another one climbs up. The box is never unoccupied.

Return Oster blender to Walmart and use refund to buy kitty treats. PROBLEM SOLVED!

Or wait until the lone cat is hungry and willing to go to a different room for food while keeping the first 2 cats in their room. Or put the 3rd cat into a carrier. Cats just need their cat litter box and food and water to stay in one room.
