Vegan Posts Pics Of Her Lab ‘Excited’ To Eat Her Vegan Dinner, Gets Destroyed By Veterinarian
772Kviews
With both vegan diets and dog ownership on the rise, it’s no surprise that there is a controversial crossover between the two. Some vegans are choosing to project their personal diet choices onto their pets with often devastating consequences, this is a choice that should not be taken lightly.
While dogs can theoretically survive on vegan dog food, the risks of malnutrition are high and they will need to be monitored carefully. Chemically synthesized supplements used to replace naturally-occurring vitamins and amino acids in balanced dog food can be expensive and need to be administered in the right quantities, and veterinary professionals generally advise against the practice of adopting a vegan lifestyle for your carnivore pets. People who choose to do it anyway usually do it for their own moral benefit, at the expense of their dog’s health. Perhaps these people could consider getting a rabbit or a goat instead?
This Tumblr post highlights the painful cognitive dissonance that vegan dog owners can experience, showing a mournful, gaunt-looking lab apparently ‘excited’ about yet another overly complicated yet nutritionally deficient meal. The post sparked a discussion about the merits of this vegan dog diet, and some of the responses are eye-opening, to say the least. Scroll down below to read them for yourself, and let us know what you think in the comments.

I'm a veggie but I'm so fed up with vegans who are usually so self-righteous and stubborn, thinking they know everything and nobody can prove them wrong.
Those are the kind of people who clearly are not vegan because they really care, but so that they can feel moraly superior. If they really cared about animals, their aim would be to study in order to do the best they can... not to show off how enlightened they are (and sometimes go as far as calling anyone who isn't vegan a monster, even vegetarians). These people give vegans a bad rep.
I'm a vegan as well, but I'd never feed my dogs vegan. I chose this lifestyle, they don't. Makes me crazy when other vegans force their pets to eat a diet that is not right for them just because they want them to. Ugh.
I am a vegetarian, on-and-off vegan, by choice since I was 3 years old. I think forcing a veggie/vegan diet on a dog, cat, or any pet that is clearly a carnivore is abusive. Want to reduce the suffering of animals? Here are some suggestions: 1) Buy high-quality food (meat or vegetables) for your pets AND yourself/family that are grown in a way that is humane, sustainable, and doesn't destroy the environment for nearby wild animals. In many areas, industrial agriculture is destroying the environment and harming EVERYTHING. 2) Use less resources. If you drive a car, the materials and energy to produce it harmed a LOT of animals. Same for the gas it burns. And the heat in your house. And the clothes you wear. And the garbage you throw a way. Reducing your footprint will have as much or more of an effect on animals being harmed than trying to make your pet eat a veg diet. 3) Donate to causes like paying for spaying/neutering of stray cats. Etc. Etc.
Ditto. This seriously pisses me off. That is one of the saddest looking dogs I've ever seen. Honestly, it makes me want to cry. I'm a life-long vegetarian, and I have a cat. You can bet your ass that she eats the best quality grain-free food I can afford. Meat grosses me out, but I do it for her. I have no problem with vegans in general, but vegans who use their diet to act all high and mighty and do crap like this... they should not be allowed to own pets, because they clearly do NOT care about them and their well-being.
It makes me wonder if this person would force lions to give up antelopes if they could. What is their reason for not feeding their dog meat? To prevent animal cruelty - be giving their dog a miserable cruel life.

How nice to think when there is one stupid person, they all must be. Way to generalise people!

As a veggie/vegetarian, you are of course fully aware that no one respects, or is interested in your opinion. You are sitting on a fence made out of denial, wtfu or stfu.

i do have a vegan dog, who eat raw celery, turnip and a lot of vegetables, hay twice the size of him per day. And a rabbit who eat raw meat everyday with heart and liver! They are fine, any problems with that??? my rabbit even got a role in a monthy python movie because of her diet^^ 20180807_1...e50fca.jpg

Maybe because you still want to breast feed, but from a completely different species. Don't forget to drag the baby cows away from their mothers so you can make snide comments, whilst not addressing your strange perversions
Question...did the dog ask to be fed a Vegan diet? If so, then knock yourself out and slowly kill your pets. Being vegan is a person choice and I get that...but for the love of god, step off your high horse and give your pets real food.
agreed
When you think about it, shouldn't vegans of this nature not own pets in the first place?

Did the animals ask to be killed to be turned into pet food?
I don't have a problem with humans who choose to be vegan. I DO have a problem when they force their high and mighty views on everyone else, and ESPECIALLY when they force it on their pets! My friend is a vegetarian (borderline vegan) and she has no problem feeding her cats meat. She sometimes even gets in non vegetarian products for when I visit.
I totally agree. Not feeding your dog or cat meat is animal cruelty. How can anyone think this is compatible with a vegan lifestyle?
It just isn't. It's dumbshit ... humans can not only handle this, they are even likely to benefit from it, as long as it is well balanced. Like any other diet. My cats always got meat, as cats are predators - there's nothing to even discuss about.
"I'm vegan, I don't want any animal to suffer!" Also, "my pets are vegan". .
They probably also think PETA is great, even though they kill animals every year in their "shelters."
Ver, pet food is normally made with animal parts which are either considered unfit for human consumption (for various reasons, including some veterinary medicines which may have been administered) or that humans simply wouldn't buy because we don't find it palatable (there's a very limited human market for animal heads, stomachs and lungs, for example). I would be surprised if the pet industry has any significant impact on the number of animals killed for food.
Interesting moral argument. Food for thought. Reminds me of people who feed their kids shitty-ass Taco Bell because they don't want to emotionally harm the kid by making them eat kale.
because vegans are fucking idiots

So what you are saying is that unless you pay to have animals killed, or you kill them yourself, you are guilty of animal cruelty? Go to the back of the class and stand in the corner facing the wall, until you are more intelligent than it.
I'm vegetarian but I have no problems buying meat and cooking it for my cats
Oh @ver, you massive grandstanding idiot. Cats CANNOT survive in a healthy way without animal proteins, because of how their body breaks them down. Dogs can in theory digest plant matter, but not all kinds of it, and animal proteins are still pretty darned important in their diet. You don't get to claim to be morally superior about animal cruelty while preaching animal cruelty.

That is because you are vegetarian. If you actually cared about animals you would be vegan, instead you pay for them to be exploited and killed and you see them as meat.
Same here! I'm a vegetarian and i feed my animals meat and i'll even buy it for friends when they come over that i know eat meat!
Definately, im vegan but i dont get the people who are really angry with everyone who isnt 🤷🏻 I cant force everyone to eat vegetables not everyone likes kale as much as me 😂
My point exaccly! BTW, your friend must be amazing.
