In the UK there is a fine for littering, problem is it is seldom they enforce it.

This also goes for your frikin load in your pickup, on top of your car etc., cover it! tie it down! VOLUNTEERS go out after your careless thoughtless butt and spend their day off bagging your trash (and household goods that fall off when you're moving).

I would specifically mention cigarette butts since most people have to smoke outdoors. zIn the military you learn from fellow soldiers to "field strip" a used cigarette. They do this because sooner or later you will find yourself on duty "policing" the grounds. This includes picking up many, many buttons. It is simple. Knock any leftover tobacco leaves out of the wrapper by flicking your middle finger at the butt while holding the filter end in your other hand. This removes any fire Hazzard. so you can pocket the butt until you get to a trash can.

I get frustrated when you can’t find a trash can. If I owned/managed a business I would put one in the lot to avoid litter

We go camping at an amazing state park in Texas every year . Most people are good about taking nothing but memories and leaving nothing but footprints. Last year though, our campsite was covered in cigarette butts when we checked in. That is just so rude , and not great for the animals or ecosystem

Oh boy, OH BOY ! Does this trigger me so hard. You can downvote me for that but, i never seen more trashier people then French people. they do not care at all and that makes me really angry. In Germany, we have a pledge system for bottles and cans with water, bear, limonade, etc. Because of the sheer amount we use machines to deal with that at a day and people bring plenty! That´s not the problem. The Problem is, they bring that stuff with big trash bags, cartons and if there are finish, throw them on the ground. right where there standing and go one with shopping, or take the money and go elsewhere. On a busy day, the start to pile up everywhere around the machines. We a have sink for people to wash there hands right next to the machines. You have no idea how glad i was, to get a sieve for that poor pump in there. the last pump broke under the sheer amount of cigarette butts. We have three trash bins near the machines and you can always ask use to deal with your trash, if you want.

And don’t have public zoom meetings! Urgh.

I have some really close friends that we're comfortable enough to just rock up to each others houses, but don't do that unless it's someone you know won't have a problem with it.

I always talk in a polite and friendly manner when making complaints. I have found they are more likely to go above and beyond to help. And always thank them afterwards and compliment their ability to help as it makes their day.

Actually not, in a lot of stores you have a designated area near the cabins where you should leave them. Especially during the pandeminc it is not so smart to put your clothes back with the others after you have tried them on, they could carry nasty things.

Car salesmen can be very pushy though! My mum ended up making an appointment because the person talking to her wouldn't take no for an answer but she had no intention of buying the car and didn't attend. I understand what you're saying but she didn't want to have to ring and engage with him again, having been intimidated into making the initial appointment.
