It is completely okay to have different opinions about music or food or anything else for that matter. It is also normal to not agree with one another. But there are some people in this world, who may have gone too far with their opposing views or are just trying to get on everybody's nerves. Recently, people on Twitter started sharing their unpopular music opinions, and some, while weird, are still acceptable, for example, standing by their love of country music. But then there were some who's opinion are simply outrageous, from calling the Beatles overrated to saying all rap music sucks, these people are definitely trying to stir up some arguments, and well, they succeeded.

I prefer video game/film music, I find it stimulates my imagination and is often well composed (John Williams especially)

Both songs with lyrics and instrumental songs can be immensely powerful!

Marshmello (hope I spelled that right) has some cool instrumental songs!

True statement, but if lyrics are total trash, it does ruin the power of the song.... Likewise, if the lyrics are really good, now that's a jack pot. Anyway, yeah, sometimes, just music speaks for itself.

What about the unfortunate mix of am exceptional lyrics and a boring or irritating tune?

Also, songs without any instruments can be incredibly good. I'm thinking along the lines of Ladysmith Black Mambazo here, for folks who like acapella.

I prefer music with lyrics because I like every kind of stories, especially the good ones. I like to listen to the text, be able to focus on it and get to know its meaning. It does not change the fact that a large part of the powerful and emotional music that I know does not have any lyrics.

Half of my favorite songs are instrumental. That's why I love classical music so much--I don't like opera though. I feel like the lyrics wreck it.

That's because it's music and not necessarily a song. To have a song you need words

I also like a symphony I heard in a museum. Weeks later I found out that a disc i have has the exact same song.

Very true. There are many instrumental pieces that are incredibly moving.

lyr·ic /ˈlirik/Submit noun plural noun: lyrics 1. a lyric poem or verse. 2. the words of a song.

That's true. But I do tend to like musics where the lyrics adds to the rhythm. For me, for a song to be powerful, the "'message" of the song doesn't matter as much as the lyrics "fitting" well... though if it's good too, better, of course.

Agreed - Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, a lot of Classical stuff, Django Reinhardt... you pick.

True. Listen to some Jeff Beck or Joe Satriani. Heck, lots of classical music.

This explains why I end up curled up in a ball in the corner every time I accidentally end up hearing the overture for Sweeney Todd (I think that's what it is) any form of that song scares me.

A song has lyrics. If it doesn't have lyrics, it's instrumental, not a song.

songs have to be sung. That’s why they’re called songs. Maybe you mean tracks. Or compositions.

Hmmm... it's not a "song" if it doesn't have lyrics. Music without lyrics is just... music.

The whole reason that it's popular is because a lot of people like it. You shouldn't be shamed because you're adding on to the list of people that like the song

I hate elitist fans who pretend they're somehow better because they liked something earlier than someone else
