United Aircraft Mechanic Asked People Online To Find This Ring’s Owner, But Got Hilarious Reactions Instead
It sucks when you lose something that holds a sentimental value for you. It may not necessarily be something expensive, but rather something that holds dear to your heart because of the memories associated with it. One internet user, who works as an aircraft mechanic, knows this feeling all too well. Therefore, when he found someone’s silver ring in one of the parts of an aircraft, he was determined to find the ring’s owner by any means necessary. Since the internet has proved numerous times to be extremely useful when it comes to finding things or people (remember the story that Panda featured about a girl who tracked down her childhood friend with help from Twitter?), this mechanic thought that it might work this time, too. He also mentioned to Bored Panda, that he had not evaluated the ring yet, but he might do so in the future.
This mechanic found a ring inside one of United’s aircraft and decided to take to the internet to find its rightful owner

He says that he found it in a ‘very tricky spot’

And he is encouraging the Imgur platform to do ‘its thing’

However, some people thought that the ring was worthless, because it looked cheap
So the guy, who originally posted the photos, edited his post to clarify that the ring’s monetary value is not the most important thing here
Some people were praising the guy for being a good person
While others saw a great opportunity to troll him a little bit
Also, many people were wondering why the mechanic didn’t report it to the airport and he again had to clarify the reason
Bored Panda sincerely hopes that the ring will finally make its way to its real owner. After all, the internet has proved its limitless capabilities to us many times.

People are asses. My engagement ring was cheap but still worth a lot to me.
Why should a ring be thousands of dollars? I'd rather have a 20 dollar ring from someone I truly love and care for than a super expensive one from some rich dude. The cheaper the ring, the more value it holds to the person, no? I'd rather not think "This ring is worth so much money" whenever I see my ring in the future and instead "I love the person who gave this to me."
Doesn't matter how cheap/expensive it is. My girlfriend got me a doctor who bracelet from hot topic... usually 8-15 dollars. More expensive if its merch for band/TV show/movie. In my case, a TV show. Anyway, it could be a $2 ring that their best friend since 2nd grade got them. (I now realize I used 2 for both parts of that example) But my bracelet is a white/blue beaded bracelet with a silver police box charm around white elastic. If I look long enough I can find all of those things and just make it myself. But that won't mean as much as the one my girlfriend gave me. I lost it for a day and I literally broke down crying because I felt bad. Whose to say they didn't do the same?
Doesn't the "925" mean it's silver? Surely if it had been missing for quite a while it would have been filthy.
Maybe he just cleaned it before posting the photos. BTW, some of those photos are so blurry.
Load More Replies...I have a ring very similar to that instead of silver it's gold and the stones are emeralds. It's a family heirloom and I couldn't love it more. My great grandmother was the first to have it, honestly it's a surprise she's still alive. (We don't know how old she is because no one wrote down the year she was born, we think she's in her late 90s)
That is really cool that you have such a treasure. I have my great grandmother's original wedding band, which would be more than 100 years old. She was married in 1912. Your ring may be close to 80 years old (going by your Gr. Grandmother's age).
Load More Replies...Weirdly enough, there's another post in BP about a woman painting an eye or something. She's wearing a similar ring.
Once lost a ring at the swimming pool lockers, years ago. Was worth maybe €15, but I LOVED that ring and I've been looking for a replacement ever since... That is, until my bf gave me a (very personal, not crazy expensive) engagement ring last fall that I love even more. :-)
These are probably the same people who will shame a woman who complains about her ring size. Hypocrisy at its best.
