If you're a regular Bored Panda reader, you probably know we have a soft spot for kitchen fails. There's just something really reassuring about homemade bread baking for 11 hours and a depressing instant noodle sandwich. They give you hope. They make you believe that no matter how bad your meals sometimes are, you could still get a Michel star for them if you would compare them to some of the worst atrocities that have ever landed on a plate. Britain Invaded Half The World For Spices And Decided They Didn’t Like Any Of Them
small children tend not to like spicy food. It is clearly a plate of food for a child. Amazing that there is broccoli and cabbage on there.
I think this meal was prepared by a smart parent - I would guess they noticed that their child liked broccoli, and are encouraging that healthy preference while keeping the rest of the plate bland and kid-friendly.
Load More Replies...lol, we do have some bland ass foods in the UK. (but also some delicious stuff like a roast dinner :3 ) As a Brit, I love spicy food. Many of us do, our "traditional food" doesn't contain a lot of it though, that much is true. But Indian and Chinese food is really popular here, not just with the asian population. :) Personally that meal looks awful to me, but then the plate suggests it's probably a childs meal anyway, and for a child that's a pretty decent and healthy meal for a child.
To be fair, this plate was obviously fixed for a little kid, and young children can be incredibly rigid and unwilling to eat anything with strong flavors. In a couple of years, the kid who ate this is going to be loving spicy curries, which I believe are now the British national dish!
Spicy curries British Nat dish? where do you idiot get this from
Load More Replies...Common And perfectly sad. I do not believe, many kids will like greens served like this. There is a reason , so many think veggies are horrible.. bland sad cooking.
Load More Replies...So how come Indian food is so loved there? I know in general the spice level is mild but also plenty of Brits love it hot and spicy!
Not that many like the spicey foods, we like to taste our meals not have them hidden
Load More Replies...Don’t think all us Brits are the same. Anyway, that is clearly meant for a child.
Not good for a child no protein but would suit an American kid maybe?
Load More Replies...Omfg I do I have tonnes of different herbs and spices in my cupboard. I like a madras and a rich chilli any time
That certainly is not a British meal, looks more like American with all the pasta. Greens yet no protein? Do not blame American crap meals on the British
Not sure how you work out that the above meal must be British? We would never serve broccoli with lettuce? Britain uses plenty of the spices, just not the same as others, Britain never tries to try copy foreigners, no need
NOT a “healthy” plate. The pasta is almost devoid of any nutrients and only contain easy carbs, that turn to sugar fast ind the body. And many kids HATE especially brcolli served boiled soft and bland. Iceberglettuce also is not very nutricious on its own, and only serves a nice crunch. Saaad plate . Vegiies can be made so amazing also for kids. Mine are proof 😋😋
A kid , who will grow up believing, that greens are a forced, bland horrible thing to eat, because of complete blandness, soft brocolli, watery bland iceberg, and no-nutrient pasta . Kids are totally capable of liking healthy tasty food with flavours. No, “flavour” does not equal hotness chilistyle.
Would never be served at a school in Britain, too unhealthy
Load More Replies...American eat mac and cheese every meal, no so the British. The meal in the picture has NO cheese on
Load More Replies...Pretty true! My husband is British, and I swear the only spice he knows is salt. And, the only method of cooking veg is boiling, and then maybe a fry.
England has 100 religions and one sauce. France has 1 religion, but 100 sauces.
Butter? you will not find that anywhere in Britain, we d not have cows so no milk
Load More Replies...I can't believe someone can eat this. South Asian cuisine is all about spices and herbs so I can't imagine eating something bland like this.
Most British like to taste their food not just a mix of spices which is many countries method of making food interesting
Load More Replies...Lol @ the caption! My friends likes spicy food. Like really spicy. Her fiance is Irish. He can only handle his food super bland. It's... interesting.
Isn't that plate of food for a little kid? My 6 year old brother likes more plain meals and would eat that.
So true! When we travelled thru the UK I wanted to introduce cooks to at least salt & pepper!
Obviously you never have travelled the UK. Many cooks leave out salt from cooked meals due to health regulations but it is always available
Load More Replies...We call them "the cats of Europe". Messed around to join in the union, then messed around until we let them get out.
We realised all too late, just how much we were being bled dry to pay for other countries' 'mishandling of funds. No doubt we weren't called 'cats' when we helped rescue France during two wars. My father was there in Dunquerque , his colleagues killed on the beach. Strangely enough, he joined up with another unit and was cheered as they made their way to rescue .....but that's enough for a discussion on food ! We were lions, and can be still, but we also can see sense when needed. Ça va ?
Load More Replies...Hahaha! They don't know What they're missing..and THIS is missing a Lot!
Some like curry, some like it hot, some like it mild, there is no collective THEY
Load More Replies...If you are wondering where the heck did we get all of these images, the answer is shittyfoodporn. This subreddit was created all the way back in 2012 and over the years it has become the archive of unappealing food pics. With over 1.7 million members, it's impossible to imagine it dying out, too.
The pandemic, however, might reduce the number of submissions the subreddit receives. They say practice makes perfect and coronavirus is really making Americans cook. In one recent survey, 54 percent of respondents said they cook more than before the pandemic, while 75 percent said they have become more confident in the kitchen and 51 percent said they will continue to cook more after the crisis ends.
My Sister Tried To Make Matzah But Ended Up Summoning The Necronomicon
Ant that's a good thing. On average, those who frequently cook at home eat less fat and sugar than other people; many restaurants and food companies use so much of these ingredients in their recipes, home cooks just can't keep up.
I guess the big question is whether or not we will return to our previous ways once everything goes back to normal. Let's just hope that our palates will have experienced a reset and our hands would have acquired enough skill to retain our new eating and cooking habits. At least a little bit.
