England’s Smallest Castle Is For Sale And It Costs No More Than A Mid-Sized Flat In London
1.4Mviews
Finally, you might get a step closer to living in a fairytale, because Britain’s smallest castle is up for grabs, and it costs no more than a mid-sized flat in London!
The property in question is Molly’s Lodge, a Grade II listed castle that sits on a 0.61-acre plot of land near the village of Long Compton in Warwickshire. Originally a gatehouse for the Weston Park Estate on the northern edge of the Cotswolds, Molly’s Lodge was built by the famous British architect, Edward Blore, in the 1830s. The very same guy who was in charge of restoring Lambeth Palace and extending Buckingham Palace for Queen Victoria.
Inside, it’s a fully functioning home, with one bedroom, a bathroom, living room, decorative spiral staircase and dining room complete with mullion windows and cast iron Victorian fireplace.
For those seriously interested, it costs £550,000 and you can express your interest before the 19th of April through here. (h/t: demilked)
Take a look inside:
There’s also Molly’s Mews in the property…
A perfect housing for visitors staying overnight

Someone pleasepleaseplease lend me £550,000. In return... I'll cook for you
......and the ironing, please!
You know how to cook egg? 😂😂😂
Then you can borrow again to pay for the upkeep, which is likely pretty frightful as well.
What would you cook??
how many meals are you talking about?
Buy the castle, live in the little house, rent the castle out on Airbnb or some other site, charge obscene amounts of money per night, laugh all the way to the bank.
And pay British taxes at British tax rates.
Unless your AirBnB guests wreck the place
Right? Who wouldn't pay to spend a night in a mini castle? "Try it now for ONLY $1,000 per night!"
This is perfect. Nobody needs a 15 bedroom with 20 bathroom home/castle.
I never understood that! All those Hollywood palaces have like 10 bedrooms and for some reason they'll have 15 bathrooms!? How on earth would anyone need more baths than beds? People are so spoiled x_X
Well, if we count a bathroom, that only has a toilet in it... I mean, in our house we have 3 rooms - each with a bathroom + 1 toilet-bathroom in the living room - so guests do not have to go through your bedroom to use it. Now I imagine the size of a 15 bedroom house, probably with different leisure areas, like pools. You probably do not have only 1 or 2 extra toilets around, especially at this level of comfort. I mean, if I have a 15-bedroom house, maybe I do not want to walk through it in a dripping bikini to visit the bathroom, or make my guests wait in lines in front of 1. As an example. I see that these numbers are crazy, and it is way above what we could call "necessary". But the bathroom-bedroom ratio isn't that distorted, as I see:)
It might be because there are likely 2 people per bedroom, and they could each want control of the bathroom to get ready..
My Mom's house has 3 bedrooms and 4 1/2 baths. My stepdad built it, he grew up without indoor plumbing so he went a little crazy on the toilet situation.
Well.. you wouldn't want to be caught in the situation where you desperately need the toilet and have to take a winding 300m-500m path to the nearest toilet.
parties. really big parties.
I imagine many of those bathrooms are connected to the bedrooms. But even with the remaining bathrooms, it's too excessive imo
Well alot of those celebrities are so full of crap that they need a washroom at a seconds notice
Let me guess... when they have company staying the night with kids ???? DUH !!!!!!
I have 5 baths and 4 bedrooms in my house. One is the pool bath.
I agree completely. In my area(near D.C), People scrape together just enough money (often going into debt) to buy a mcmansion that will make them look wealthy. Then, because they spent their money on the mcmansion, there isn't enough money for furniture, so the people end of with a lot of empty rooms and a big debt to pay to the bank.
Individuals don't. The old nobles certainly did. Castles were more than just 'my personal residence.'
In one episode of Downton they commented on the vulgarity of having a lot of bathrooms, as if it was a hotel. A while ago I asked about a house that was con sale, they told me it had 3 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, when I asked 5??? The owner said Oh yes, like it was the most normal thing in the world.

How suck it is in your world that people should only have what they need. I have employed lots of people having them provide what I want.
