This list of the #worstFontsEver was compiled by Creative Market to poke fun at lettering designs that professionals love to hate “due to popularity, ugliness, or both.” A font is what you use, a typeface is what you see, just to dodge another designer pet-peeve before we get into some details!
Many of these maligned letter fonts have an interesting story behind them. Trajan is based on “capitalis monumentalis” or Roman square capitals, which were used for the inscription at the base of Trajan’s Column; iconic font called Arial was created in 1982 by Microsoft to avoid paying for the Helvetica license; and the all-time funniest font Comic Sans, another Microsoft creation, was intended for use with the failed Microsoft Bob software.

I don't hate Bleeding Cowboys. And not Arial, either. Arial is just there. It's like air... You can't go around hating something like that. Comic Sans and Papyrus though! Burn them! And you missed Monotype Corsiva...

Design a font that is informal yet not cutesy and I wil use it instead of Comic Sans. But yeah, I love Papyrus. It's elegant.

I am in serious disagreement with Helvetica being on the list.. As for Arial, it was a cop-out by Microsoft to blatantly copy Helvetica to avoid licensing fees after all, so I dislike the origins of the typeface more so than the actual aesthetics.
Benguiat Bold: For those who want to show off their unhealthy obsession with Stranger Things without shaving their head and legally changing their name to Eleven.
As a designer for a vinyl and custom tags shop, Lobster can actually come in handy for its thick stroke.
I, and many other people with impaired vision, really like Arial; better than Helvetica.
I like Zapfino depending on the project I recently designed a poster for a fancy Coffe lounge and made it with zapfino the result was well received by both customers of the coffe and my client
'Pspyrus' is one of the worsts ever. I was sure I am going to see 'Monotype Corsiva' and 'Impact' in this list...
Really??!!! It's fonts, such a humdrum thing to make a big deal about.
Comic Sans is definitely the worst of the bunch. I'm quite partial to Arial and Helvetica though as they are simple and clear.
I agree with all statements and love to hate most of these fonts too. Except the Trajan. Misused and out of context all over the place indeed, but the most outstanding translation of ancient Roman caps. Love to love that one.
I personally hate Papyrus and Copperplate Gothic the most. They are SO overused. Papyrus doesn't even look slightly good. It's extremely tacky and Copperplate... It's just everywhere. EVERYWHERE! It follows me every where I go, I'm surprised it hasn't started showing up in my nightmares yet. The worst part is when a customer specifically requests one of these fonts. I hate it because it forces me to design something that I can't even be proud of.
It seems a lot of people here wanna have a bad time...

These are deemed as bad is because people have used them over and over again in the wrong context. Same thing has started happening with Helvetic. It's used Everywhere regardless of the fact that there are plenty of other straight clean fonts to use for body text.
I do both graphic design and serving. My boss at the restaurant only occasionally lets me help with all things design (logos and whatnot) but prefers to do it herself when possible. Anyway, long story short, the whole menu's in Papyrus. Seriously... titles, descriptions, prices.... and this is a Southern-style BBQ restaurant. It drives me bonkers.
The main problem is that all these fonts are way overused, it's just lazy too use them as a designer because there is always a good/better alternative around just have too look for it.
The only font on this list I think a designer should never use is Comic Sans and maybe papayrus. The rest have their place. I design a lot of publications for older adults. Helvetica are easy to read and therefore a font I use fairly regularly. The rest, I use infrequently or rarely. Because I agree, most of these fonts are fine, just overused.

I like Comic MS- it's informal & legible. Papyrus works very well as a drop cap yet it's not right for a block if text. I go for simplicity of available fonts for info and body text, and others as emphatic, catch-one's eye, limited use.
All of these are not bad! Okey comic sans and papyrus are horrible, but lobster for example can be good if used in the right way and ocation. And Helvetica, Helvetica neue works with everything, not a bad font at all.
