Kyle Vey (Knitaholic TO) and I, Shireen Nadir (The Blue Brick Yarns) are fiber fanatics who draw from a range of talents and skills to develop unique creations. Kyle is an engineer, MBA student and consultant, while I am a photographer, martial arts teacher and artist working with yarn, paints, pottery and jewelry.

Our collaborative works all begin with a photograph taken by myself, or my husband Tito, on adventures across Canada and around the world. The chosen photo becomes the inspiration for a gradient yarn (ombré) that I develop to match perfectly with the original image.
Our collaborative works all begin with a photograph taken by myself, or my husband Tito, on adventures across Canada and around the world. The chosen photo becomes the inspiration for a gradient yarn (ombré) that I develop to match perfectly with the original image.
Kyle then takes the yarn and designs a wearable, textured piece; leveraging his own background in engineering. His unique eye for construction sets him apart from the knits that you might expect, constructing pieces that are contemporary and modern without sacrificing function.
The pattern and skeins needed to make it are shipped together with a print of the original photo that inspired the idea. The results are stunning works of wearable art that combine both of our visions.
While we don’t sell the finished items (knitting takes far too much time!), the patterns can be purchased on their own at Kyle’s Ravelry store, or kits can be purchased that include the pattern, the yarn and the original inspirational image at The Blue Brick online store.

Share on FacebookBeautiful! I'll be buying the kit as soon as it is available = SATURDAY!!!
Oh my! These are stunning. Just breathtaking, and very inspiring. I make jewelry from 80-90% recycled materials - I would love to collaborate with you some time. Your colors are right in my palette. www.facebook.com/mkultracreations/
The first one reminds me of the tooth fairy from „Rise of the Guardians“. Absolutely beautiful!
Absolutely stunning! You are a true artist & that wings wrap... jaw droppingly beautiful!
The colours are lovely, but I don’t knit - and even if I wanted to, I can’t.
Would be better if you could order them already made. Kinda sucks that you have to buy the kit...that means for someone who doesn’t knit, they’d have to buy it and have someone else make it for them? Ugh
I consider myself a crafty person but I have trouble when it comes to mixing colors. This yarn combo is absolutely gorgeous! Makes my heart smile!!!
in a couple of weeks I'm attending a class on making natural dyes..l will try and make my own balls of dyed yarn l think to create something
I love the idea and I love the scarves they have made, but is it art? Not everything is art. Sometimes it's well thought through and well constructed craft. Or artistically crafted knitwear.
Seriously? You take a tube of paint and a brush and paint a picture - that's art - but you take yarn and dye it to be this beautiful - THEN make something beautiful out of it - and that is NOT art? SMH
