These Twin Sisters Were Ashamed Of Their Incredible Hair, But Now They Became Famous For It
Meet identical twins Cipriana Quann and TK Wonder – the girls that make heads turn when they walk the streets.
A while ago, the now fashion models hated their luscious hair: “I was beginning to actually hate my hair and seeing it as a huge obstacle,” Cipriana said. But as time passed, they decided to stop straightening it, and start embracing it. Which eventually led the photo models to be recognized as the queens of natural hair, bringing Instagram envy all around the world.
But the sisters aren’t just pretty faces… Along with their friend Nikisha Brunson, they’re also the girls behind the natural hair blog “Urban Bush Babes.” “I think it came to a point where it was derogatory toward people who wore their natural hairstyles, and there was a certain stigma around people who wore their hair natural or in an afro,” TK Wonder said. “It was about breaking down stereotypes and derogatory perceptions that people had about natural hair.” Now, whatever the twins do, they do it with ambition, confidence, passion, and, of course, great hair.

Meet identical twins Cipriana Quann and TK Wonder
The twin sisters make heads turn when they walk down the street
However, a while ago, the girls hated their hair
“I was beginning to actually hate my hair and seeing it as a huge obstacle,” Cipriana said
“I didn’t have any creative freedom or creative control”
“So I quit modeling and decided to grow my hair natural again”
And rather than straightening their hair, the girls started to embrace it
And were eventually recognized as the queens of natural hair
Bringing Instagram envy all around the world
But the sisters aren’t just pretty faces
They’re also the girls behind the natural hair blog “Urban Bush Babes”
“I think it came to a point where it was derogatory toward people who wore their hair natural,” TK Wonder said
“There was a certain stigma around people who wore their hair natural or in an afro”
“It was about breaking down stereotypes and derogatory perceptions that people had about natural hair”
Now, whatever Cipriana and TK Wonder do
They do it with ambition, confidence, passion
And, of course, great hair

Share on FacebookAfro hair looks dense... It's fluffy and light...
Load More Replies...I like the look, it's stunning. But wondering the same thing: how heavy it is and how to wash it?
I used to have my hair like that as a little kid, not as long. Trust me, it's ridiculously HARD but very worth it, because cultural roots.
Load More Replies...Their hair is beautiful. I don't know where the stigma came from, but like most stigmas, I find it absurd. Flaunt your locks, ladies!
:( Unfortunately it's part of the oppression of African Americans, probably in most white countries, but definitely especially in the US.
Load More Replies...Why, outside, under the heat of the noon day sun. That's why hair like that was created in the first place.
Load More Replies...This is great! I grew up feeling different because of my big, curly hair. It's incredible how people seem to think curly or frizzy somehow isn't "normal", like you're some kind of altered species. Now I don't care much but I see my teenage kids going through the same insecurities. These two gorgeous twins certainly help to set new role models.
I have flat straight hair and have always wanted very curly hair. It is beautiful! Maybe the insecurities come from people looking; which I do; but out of awe of the beauty and not because it is different!
Load More Replies...Their hairstyles look amazing! It's a shame that so many judge them for something that is a natural way of hair structure. That makes it even better that they fully embrace the beauty of it, now!
I'm sorry to hear these women felt awkward about their hair before. I'm happy they have overcome this, and interested to learn more about stigmas people face if they choose to wear their afros naturally. Not only are these ladies stunning...they're also educating. good on them!
I love how different their style is from each other. Most identical twins dress the same and have similar hair into adulthood. They're both gorgeous and I love the hair.
I give these ladies props for being able to survive the Summer with all that hair!!! (PS they look beautiful) Props-58c7...71ad65.gif
This is so so so amazing! I wish I would get an Afro. It could probably doo it, but my mum would not let me. 79AFEB8B-C...e-jpeg.jpg
Meanwhile I have alopecia and I fear that if I comb my hair one more time, it:s all gone . Love your hair girls, it's awesome!
Why do people assume their hair is heavy? its not heavy at all, its hair
Nice, BUT bit being a hater, aren't these ladies 'mixed' which would account for their hair being so long and thick. How long dd it take for their hair to grow that long? Wish mine grew fast.
I saw one of these girls at the airport and I couldn't stop staring because she was absolutely gorgeous. But, then I heard these two black guys comment about how her hair looks nasty and looks like it stinks. Idk if she heard them but I was offended for her.
Hair grows slowly...very gradually. You acclimate to the negligible weight of it. (It is heavier when wet however...but that's temporary.) You wash natural hair of varying lengths and styles by wetting it, applying shampoo, lathering, rinsing...repeating. It's "harder" to have to regularly straighten/process one's hair with hot heated steal or harmful chemicals than it is to just take care of your natural hair. How they washed their hair it must be heavier when is wet,is looks nice ,too much..
I would give ANYTHING to have such hair! (BTW I am a 50 year old white woman with thin, fine hair)
I am utterly envious. My hair is thin, sparse and so straight it wouldn't take a perm on the first take (back in the 80's). And they are both completely gorgeous to boot
Ashamed? I wish I had that much hair. Actually no that would be a lot of work to care for;)
Wouldn't like to put a brush through that lot, would look a lot better short !!
No need to straighten it, but maybe just cut it shorter??? Not now, obviously as they are "exploiting it" and it's their brand, but back when they were bothered by it? I don't get that many girls/women would rather die than cut their hair.
They are both gorgeous and are true living art on every level. Wow!
So wonderful! Women need to hear that they are, beautiful, valuable, and perfect the way they are! Natural hair is beautiful! Thank you for being such positive role models.
I love their hair, i have naturally curly hair, and when you learn to embrace it you start to work with it instead of fighting it.
These women are stunning! I wonder, though, if that huge hair is heavy and hot? As someone who has straight, limp hair, I envy them.
I still think that racism against ethnic hair is THE DUMBEST form of racism... not the worst, just the dumbest.
Wonderful to see them finally embracing themselves and their hair. Being true to who you are is very important
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHA
I cannot imagine how much time and work must go into looking after their beautiful hair. I have waist length hair and have most of the 57 years and all I need to do is wash it,brush it and let it air dry. I am sure it must take a lot more for these girls if mine takes hours to dry not to mention brushing or combing.
Everyone here could go to YouTube and watch some "natural hair" videos. all question would be answered...
Your hair is absolutely beautiful! I LOVE IT! YOU WEAR YOUR STYLE WELL! IT LOOKS AWESOME ON YOU BOTH!
I've always loved nature black hair but you don't see it very often and that's saddening to me.
But whyyy their hairs are incredible and is not soo cool to make for famouse and the poor hair ohh but its beauty
WOW!!! I WOULD LOVE TO JUST STROKE THEIR HAIR, YA KNOW LIKE A STALKER! >:)
It puts Princess Jasmine's hair to shame... The volume of that hair is amazing!
I know exactly how they feel because my hair is big and frizzy and obnoxious and I got teased about it ruthlessly. It's still a hassle.
I love their hair. As a swede with thin, super light hair, I envy these girls.
Now these look like an amazing habitat... bats, bees, hamsters... whatever you like ;P PS. Yeah, they look amazing, I also don't believe they ever hated their hair - if they did they would have cut it a long time ago :)
It said they decided to grow their hair natural their hair natural again so they did in facts alter their hair because they hated it.
Load More Replies...Hey, I hate my hair too because I don't suit it but these girls shouldn't have a reason to hate theirs. They suit that kind of hair perfectly, it just makes them who they are.
I wonder why they felt ashamed. Oh wait, I know why. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/05/01/opinion/when-black-hair-is-against-the-rules.html?_r=0 http://www.thevisibilityproject.com/2016/02/03/never-forget-021-there-were-laws-that-banned-black-hair/ http://www.thevisibilityproject.com/2016/02/03/never-forget-021-there-were-laws-that-banned-black-hair/ I hope they and the other millions of blacks who are ashamed kicked out of school or worse never need validation from the very race that oppressed and took away their pride. And before you comment on my comment as negative read the links I provided. It is important to educate oneself to understand the whole picture so you don't get a picture full of holes.
The girls look stunning, like others have noted, but, like other high fashion, this kind of hair is aspirational rather than realistic. Unless you make a career out of maintaining your hair, there is no way to go about your daily business with it. Also, big hair mostly looks glamorous on slender body (sigh), and I doubt that it would be equally extolled on your everyday imperfect girls. For characters in this story, though, it must be great sister fun to do this together.
If initially the girls had such a problem with their hair then why did they let it get so long? I have enough problems drying my own shoulder length THICK HAIR, it takes hours to dry, like 24 hours. I like Cipriana's look but TK's looks like a blob alongside of her head and her eyebrows are a bit bushy whereas Cipriana's look sleeker. Both beautiful girls though. I like Cipriana's look but not TK's, hers looks like a blob alongside of her head.
I think you're mixing them up. Cipriana has her hair in one ponytail, TK has hers wild and free for most of the pics.

Nope. They wear their hair like this all the time. Once you have natural hair, you learn to navigate it b
