Swedish TV Accidentally Puts Subtitles From A Kid’s Show Over A Political Debate, And It’s Brilliant
Unless Donald Trump is somehow involved, politics isn’t usually very funny or thrilling. In fact, it’s often about as exciting as watching paint dry – absolutely tedious and uninspiring. But a TV station in Sweden found a way to make a political debate interesting by accidentally pairing it with subtitles from a children’s TV show, and the results are predictably hilarious.
One of the cartoons for kids that the subtitles came from is called Dinosaur Train, and you guessed it, it’s about dinosaurs on a train, exploring their prehistoric universe. But clearly, it wasn’t the only cartoon whose subtitles ran amuck, because why on Earth would dinosaurs need two separate pairs of shoes? But we are not going to search for it, because mystique is part what makes these captions the best captions ever.
The unexpectedly entertaining discussion (which was caught by an Imgur user named TheBlondeSwede) kicked off with Sweden’s Minister for the Environment welcoming everybody by saying, according to the kids’ show subtitles, “greetings, earth creature,” and things got weirder from there. Scroll down to see the funny captions. If only all the funny TV shows were this good!

Share on Facebookman i would totally vote for that man who says he would build the most awesome sandcastle! That is a goal! Finally a politician who gets his prioritys straight! Brrrrring on the Sand!
Yes, the most awesome sand castle... and the Mexicans will pay to build it, ...and free unicorns for everyone
Load More Replies...I am totally voting for them! ...and Asa should definitively got for the yellow boots if she wants to be the trendy one in the sand pit before the afternoon nap...
I think a dinosaur submarine would be pretty terrifying actually. It's bad enough when you know where they are but having them lurking below the surface AND armed with nukes. T-Rex with nukes. Yes, terrifying is the correct word.
This is odd because I don't speak Swedish... But who cares?! I'M VOTING FOR THESE GUYS
The Swedish Public Service TV has two channels. For each you can, during some shows, use the teletext function to subtitle the show. Thus you could easily show the wrong subtitles since both are accessable from both channels. And also, the titles are mixed up, and some of the names.
The sandcastle subtitle would have been brilliantly paired with Trump's speech on building a wall.
And that's why Sweden is one of the best countries in the world. Imagine something like this happening in yankland...outrage to the fullest, including the white house since 2017.....
I am so sorry that I missed that. I didn't know they had it in them.
what is all this "all dinosaurs have different shapes" diversity claptrap! lol. This is my new favorite thing.
I used to watch the dino show when i was really little... so i got all but the first one... rofl...lmao!
Nope. Nothing accidental about it. Someone turned on the closed captioning for another channel than the one they were watching and photographed the results. Swedish subtitles do not look like that (but closed captioning does). This can be done all day, every day with a Teletext CC system, which most European countries have.
The subtitles do seem teletext, I'm no Swedish but we have teletext too.
Load More Replies...Yes please Dinosaur Trains and Sandcastle. Sure. I would vote for them.~
so. i watched all these shows as a kid. im pretty sure that dinosaurie train exists in the u.s too. And i got to watch this debate too. sorry my english sucks.
I an literally crying with laughter with tears going down my face. the combo of their ‘this is serious’ faces and the silly things, combined with the fact that very often what they say is equally related to reality, I don’t know its just hilarious
Who needs 'Honest Subtitle' spoofs when the real thing can turn out like this! As much as we laugh and mistakes can happen, subtitles are absolutely essential for a lot of viewers. For deaf and hard of hearing audiences, losing subtitles can feel on a par with being left to watch a blank screen. http://www.capitalcaptions.com provides high quality, affordable subtitle services... We even make sure we encode our captions to the correct videos!
Sorry, not true. This is the owner of that tv set who pressed buttons to get subtitles from a childrens program while showing a channel with a political debate. It's NOT from a tv station. Anyone in Sweden can do this, put it on YouTube and get a lot of likes, we have text tv pages with subtitles for the hearing impaired but you have to select the text tv pages for the tv channel you are watching...
Bored Panda, this was funny and all - but do you really need to take a swipe at Trump? I know he has laughable moments, and maybe more often than others, but it would be nice to keep the politics a bit off the main drag for a bit- There has to be SOME PLACE we can go for politics-free zones? (present post itself notwithstanding, as that is the actual topic of course!)
Jan Björklund isn´t minister. He is the former minister of education. Now leader of one of the smaller opposition parties, the Liberals.
laughed soo hard omg and WHO WOULDNT VOTE FOR THE GUY WITH THE BEST SAND CASTLE IN THE GALAXY??!!
