Kazakh history is rife with stories of people throwing stones, making this glass tree-house, by Kazakh architect Aibek Almassov, the perfect weapon to combat stone proliferation. First designed in 2013, the dream was shattered when investors pulled out; now, however, with a glass and solar panel manufacturer expressing interest, A. Masow Architects’ ‘Tree in the House’ could soon become a reality.
“About two years ago I created the design of the house which was harmless and as close to the nature,” Almassov told Bored Panda. “I respect nature, it feeds us but we destroy it.
I’ve been looking for a solution that would help in the future to avoid the destruction of forests, we want to live with it in harmony. So i created the tubular glass house around a tree.”

Nope. (1) Imagine the insects, small rodents, and possibly bigger animals. (2) Dead leaves, branches, etc -- almost certainly made worse by the tree being enclosed. (3) If there's not mold and mildew from dampness, there's the possibility of a super-fire hazard.
And not to mention Ent reprisal for imprisoning their brethren.

My friend's dad is an architect. They also built their house around a tree. It dented their roofing a bit, other than that, all is fine. It was an open plan, so dampness was not a problem. It just takes time and effort to clean the falling leaves but it's not something they mind. The idea is plausible if well planned. Of course, picking the right tree also helps.
How wonderful to be able to "pick the right tree" sounds like too much money and not nearly enough common sense.

This is a terrible idea, why can't that or any other tree be left to live life naturally? How awful taking nature for granted like this just to please some rich persons whims. Ghastly idea.

It only looks well. In fact it's so unpractical to live in. Leaves everywhere, branches growing inside the house, bugs and stuff coming from the tree. And extremly hot in sunny days. This glass will make a greenhouse effect inside... ;P
In regards to sustainable design, there must be living walls installed in order to promote ventilation. This is a ventilation system that pushes bad mildew air out, and pushes clean air in. Just a few pointers I studied from my green building design class.
But what about the living tree? are you missing the point deliberately? We don't own them they are the lungs of the world, not ours to abuse.

I'm guessing the ground floor houses the kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, dinner, washing appliances, storage, etc. So you have the first, second and third floor for your luxurious rooms. Not to mention the column going right through the staircase. Designs like these will never ever live up to their expectations.

If you want nature, don't keep plants, flowers etc at your home, they are living too and they have been cut off of their natural habitat... As this is a glass building and light goes through to the leaves I don't see how it affects the life of this tree anyway.

una casa come quella risulta quantomeno soffocante. hanno costruito si attorno all'albero, ma anche a misura di albero. quindi a parte i rami, ci stà poco altro la dentro. sai che nervi dopo un po? ho visto anche io altre case costruite attorno ad alberi, ma sicuramente più vivibili!!! a house like that is least stuffy. They have built it around the shaft, but also to measure tree. so apart from the branches, stà there is little else in there. you know that the nerves after a while? I have also seen me other houses built around trees, but surely more livable !!!
It's nice for making there a cafeteria or pub. Just to take a coffee in the nature, but not for living there I think.

A unique idea, but... geographic area it is constructed in (seasonal changes), type of tree chosen (top height) & other personal factors (cleaning & maintenance of the tree & the home) would be major factors to ponder, prior to undertaking this bold & beautiful venture!
Hilarious to read all the comments from nattering nabobs of negativism, when clearly this is a concept house where all the pesky details of ventilation, bathroom, etc., are mere details to be worked out in future should it be developed. As for enclosing the tree, I've seen this done quite nicely and effectively, in a posh extravagant home which also had an indoor/outdoor swimming pool, and in the room of a young girl whose dad carefully shaped the tree as a sort of large bonsai with limbs that she could climb up to a sleeping loft and sufficient light provided by a glass doorwall, the walls painted light yellow. The child loved it growing up and the tree is still there, thriving all these years later, experiencing none of the problems some complain about here, such as ant, mice or other critters... because the tree was carefully placed and tended. As for those who complain about interfering with nature, you do that every day living in homes built of trees made into lumber.
Protip: If you make a cgi concept for a treehuose please be careful with the limbs going throught the floor (see: pic 6).

Light must be monitored to prevent the structure from falling because the tree is rotting. Just a few things I learned from my green building design class.

They just designed a giant vertical greenhouse, without any shade cloth to cut the sun. It would kill the tree and anyone in it unless there is some major ventilation system not shown in the drawing.
Uh, it's a nice concept but I wouldn't go so far as to imprison the tree and it's denizens. Also, plants take in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide at night. Wouldn't it be incredibly stuffy in the house?

Problem is that trees have a sex life that requires contact with other trees. By isolating this tree you are sterilizing it which may lead to death.

So basically it's a house with no kitchen, no runny water, no toilet (well I don't see it, and I don't really see where it would go). Just glass around a tree. Better leave the tree alone, so it can be used by birds for their nest, for example. Plus the tree would love the rain sometimes... I understand the concept, but if you want to feel connected to the nature there are less intrusive (for the nature !) solutions ^^
