The internet is full of beautiful and amazing photographs, but do you ever stop and wonder just what went into that perfect shot? I'm not just talking about the digital manipulation side of the process, although there's certainly plenty of that involved. No, I'm talking about the physical hard work combined with the often super-creative approaches that photographers employ in order to ensure that their final shot is the very best it can be.
Take a look at these behind-the-scenes pictures to see what we mean. Compiled by Bored Panda, they're sure to give the budding photographer some fresh ideas while giving the rest of us an enlightening glimpse into the reality that hides behind many a perfect picture.

Levitation
I'd think she would still have to be some sort of gymnist to be able to balance (and hold) like that. Wowza!
I take that back. I'm pretty sure the ladder is photoshopped in.
Load More Replies...Here ya go. Like this. https://www.dropbox.com/s/15pp0upnqj1uihm/Screen%20Shot%202016-10-08%20at%2016.23.43.png?dl=0
Load More Replies...Exactly... what about the dress? Even if her body holds up, dresses don't generally float like that
Load More Replies...Why does the ladder look different where it meete/surrounds her body at the waist?
I think they put cloth over it to make it easier to photoshop?
Load More Replies...The ladder is not photoshopped in. geez. where do people come up with this. This sort of prop for levitation looks is very common and old news, too.
This does NOT look right in the flip. Her dress is blowing up. White stuff is blowing. Her feet and back curve up at an angle to hard to hold on a ladder that has an tiny to hardly there board. Something is way off on this. Where is the photographer and the props. Why didn't you zoom further out and reveal more more? This is hinky!
Maybe if she were suspended from something and a fan was blowing then I would believe this shot. I don't believe this shot with a ladder.
Load More Replies...I know how it's done, as I know these two wonderful people personally, and it was very clever and a lot of work but Im not saying and more!
It doesn't even look something good... why would she wanna fly at the very beginning.. she'll cherish flying after 3 years of marriage.. wait for it girl !
it's still rigged on the pic with the ladder: if her body was really through the top of the step ladder, then the metal parts would be in front of her body. They aren't even stood in a field. Clever illusion though...
I can confirm, we are indeed in a field haha. Yeah, the ladder does look dodgy as this pic was in the middle of me painting it out. I don't even know how they got that tbh. Basically my top half, my legs and the dress are three different shots and the ladder was painted out of the scene.

I really don't understand why the title of this post is so negativistic. It's not a lie, it's actually ART.
THere's aren't lies but methods to take creative photos. The lie is in the modeling, post-production world that suggests models have "perfect" skin, hair, waist, legs, arms, chest, etc. While many techniques are about creative utility., there is still a heavy focus on Photoshopping the subject until they're not human anymore. When the production team want's you to believe it's reality, where as these are artists wanting you to dream with them and believe, while understanding it's not real. It's analogous to "psychics" & magicians.
I would call the photos of the aurora borealis and all the fake landscapes lies but still cool
Well but there are also real photos of Aurora borealis taken and the light is just as amazing in real life
I know, right. I agree with u too. So stupid how this person put a title show that photography are the biggest lie ever... so stupid. Everyone always want good pictures, maybe it just that person who wants ugly pictures 😂😂😂
This couldn't have been better said thank you for this comment

Many of these seem to have a photo and then a supposed photo of it's execution. Not convinced that the two are connected other than by concept. It's frustrating, many of these are interesting, but a bit false in order to gain clicks. :(
The techniques are really interesting, I think the problem is the name of the article, as a lot people already commented, they're not lies
Thank you Bored Panda! I found some really helpful tricks here! :)
I'll have a whole new perception of photos and a better understanding of how they might have been created, after seeing this post. Thank you Bored Panda!
These are really not lies at all, but of course they are really cool photos. They should name it, "15+ Pics That Show The Truth Behind Popular Photos" or something...
It shows that a hell of a lot of work and thought goes into one photo. Anybody who thinks that photos tell a 'truth' is an idiot, anyway. The framing and the choice of camera angle leave very little that is 'real'
Right! Photos are always subjective. They show the photographers reality or what he wants others to think it's real! Murales, Orgosolo, Sardegna. Difference between the photos 3 steps and 3 seconds DSCF6963_S...4c1b4d.jpg
most of these aren't "lies". just creative use of techniques and tools and the cameraman going above and beyond
Your question, "What do you think?"... I think you are stupid with a stupid title.
Photography is not the biggest lie ever! These photos and the tricks used are pure genius! Show how much effort goes in taking one good shot!
Photography is not a lie, It's art.. something you guys clearly can't see if you call it a lie.
You don't take a photograph, you make it. - Ansel Adams
It's called setup, not lie...means to be creative
The real hero of the rock climbing photo was the photographer who trusted his safety to such a jury-rig.
