When Donald Trump signed an executive order on Friday banning citizens of Muslim-majority countries from entering the US, and suspending the Refugee Admissions Program, he did a lot more than just anger migrant crisis activists.
The Muslim ban order has left legal US residents stranded in their home countries, or in airports along the way, simply because they hold passports from Iran, Iraq, or one of five other countries on Trump's list. These are people with homes, family, and friends in the US whom they are now separated from for at least 90 days, all in the name of preventing "foreign terrorist entry." Let's not forget about the thousands of refugees in Syria and elsewhere whose dreams of finding safety and peace are now crushed, and who may very well meet their deaths before the anti-Muslim ban is lifted.
Massive equal rights protests erupted at major airports across the nation, and the Trump administration is already buried in lawsuits related to the travel restrictions. Parts of the ban preventing the movement of Green-card holders have reportedly been lifted, but the President's discriminating actions have already torn apart families across the world and doomed the lives of others.

This is a sad reminder of Hitler's Germany after 1939. There were a few who got out early, went to Portugal where they could sail for the U.S. Some got to England via merchant ships and fishing trawlers. As a white British male Teacher who has worked all over the Middle East and currently lives in the Middle East, I would like to state clearly that Arabs, Muslims and Islam have unfairly bad press in the Western World. They are warm, generous and exceedingly kind people. I have never experienced such warmth and generosity until I came to the Arab world. Arabs......you rock! This is probably the first time I mind having the "kittenificator".
Any single story underlines that to today's problems there are no simple solutions. In fact, these simple solutions will do more bad to innocent people than they do to stop bad people. It is particularly sad that this is only noticed if really harsh action like now is taken. Other, less harsh issues are just accepted, even though they are extremely annoying and again do not contribute anything to solving problems. Anyone still questioning why you cannot bring liquids in containers > 100 ml through airport security? It was a seaminly easy solution to increase security many years ago, and probably even justified for a while. Nowadays it is obsolete, but we got to live with it.

It is my understanding that this is a limited time ban. Just like all the others before it. Is that not so? And I realize I'm being nit-picky, but the woman in the first post was not deported. She left the county and was not allowed back in. There is a huge difference. And if she has been here for seven years, why didn't she become a citizen and thus have an American passport?
Doesn't matter if it's limited ban or not, Trump has no right to ban any lawful residents (Green Card holder or Citizen) from the US. Also, before making this comment you should've done some research. According to US Customs and Borders Protection, any lawful Green Card holders can leave the US anytime they want and can still return so long as they haven't been out of the country for more than 1 year. Also, an immigrant has to be living in the US for 5 years before they can apply for citizenship. The process for citizenship can take a while, according to American Immigration Center, the application process alone can take 6 months to more than a year, then they have to wait for the interview process and then wait again to be called to take the oath. So for all you know she has already applied for citizenship the moment she hit 5 years of living here, even then she's still a legal US resident.

Any single story underlines that to today's problems there are no simple solutions. In fact, these simple solutions will do more bad to innocent people than they do to stop bad people. It is particularly sad that this is only noticed if really harsh action like now is taken. Other, less harsh issues are just accepted, even though they are extremely annoying and again do not contribute anything to solving problems. Anyone still questioning why you cannot bring liquids in containers > 100 ml through airport security? It was a seaminly easy solution to increase security many years ago, and probably even justified for a while. Nowadays it is obsolete, but we got to live with it.
Some if these stories make me suspect that they are being held hostage by the country themselves. Especially Iran. Easy to do and easy to pass blame.

The lead story is based on a false narrative. The woman has not been deported. She has been refused re-entry, for 90 days. Unfortunate for her, but it is simply wrong to say she was deported. Disingenuous twisting of facts lends no credibility to the issue.

And I realize I'm being nit-picky, but the woman in the first post was not deported. She left the county and was not allowed back in. There is a huge difference. And if she has been here for seven years, why didn't she become a citizen and thus have an American passport?
Doesn't matter if it's limited ban or not, Trump has no right to ban any lawful residents (Green Card holder or Citizen) from the US. Also, before making this comment you should've done some research. According to US Customs and Borders Protection, any lawful Green Card holders can leave the US anytime they want and can still return so long as they haven't been out of the country for more than 1 year. Also, an immigrant has to be living in the US for 5 years before they can apply for citizenship. The process for citizenship can take a while, according to American Immigration Center, the application process alone can take 6 months to more than a year, then they have to wait for the interview process and then wait again to be called to take the oath. So for all you know she has already applied for citizenship the moment she hit 5 years of living here, even then she's still a legal US resident.
