Truffles The Cat Helps Kids Feel Comfortable With Fearing Glasses When They Go To Optometrist
Cats are beautiful, and probably no one could argue that they’re not. However, it’s somewhat harder to see how glasses are beautiful. But there’s a cat out there whose sole mission is to prove otherwise… by wearing them herself. And by doing so, she helps children to acquire purrfect vision.
The cat’s name is Truffles, and she was rescued by master optician Danielle Crull and her family in 2016. After getting adopted, Truffles quickly proved that she’s not only a sweetheart, but also has a sharp mind, as she learned to sit and high five with the help of treats. As Crull is a master optician that owns a glasses dispensary for children, she thought she could use Truffles’ smarts for a good cause, and taught the black-and-white cat to wear glasses. And thus, a new hero came into focus.
Danielle started bringing Truffles to her “A Child’s Eyes” dispensary in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. Crull’s clients can be as young as 4 months old, though they average to about 2-5 years old. As most of us know, cats are very purrsuasive, so it takes little to no time before children see Truffles in glasses and think “Glasses are cool!”

Share on FacebookThat is so cute!! Truffles is a good girl and looks amazing in all the glasses!!
Coolest post I've seen in a long time. This woman has great insight into the psyche of a child to come up with something so helpful. Kudos to you too cat!
I once found two tiny pairs of plastic glasses in a toy store and put it on my cat for some giggles and we also tricked many people into believing that he actually got prescription glasses from the "eye" vet. My little cousin's totally bought it.
I think this is really cute, but does the cat wear those all day? Or just when meeting kids? I feel like although the cat is okay with it, making a cat wear glasses for 8-10 hours is a little unnecessary. I do think having a therapy animal at certain places, such as at the dentist or optometrist's office is a good idea, and this cat seems to assist with that! Cute post.
I think it’s just when she’s on duty, and if she lets the owner take them off
Load More Replies...I’m an adult and Truffles has convinced me to wear my glasses more often than I do. Sweet cat!
This is so cool! I would just change one letter in the title, if possible: “Truffles The Cat Helps Kids Feel Comfortable With [W]Fearing Glasses When They Go To Optometrist”.
I upvoted your comment because normally I hate seeing that, too, as it is not "cute" to make a cat suffer by forcing it to wear clothing/accessories (and normally you can see in the cats' eyes how much they hate it). But this is an exception, I think. Truffles looks so comfortable with the fake glasses, even a bit proud and not at all stressed. This cat is clearly loved, enjoys the interaction with little humans and as Truffles seems to have a lot of trust in her humans and as I always trust the judgement of a cat I have trust in her humans, too, and think that they would not do it, if it would stress her.
