Helix Tattoo Trend Is Taking Over Instagram, And These 51 Pics Will Make You Want To Get One Too
A new tattoo trend is taking over Instagram, and, we must say, it's pretty awesome. Say goodbye to earrings and ear cuffs, and hello to helix tattoos.
The helix is the thin curved outer part of the ear and now people are jazzing it up with dainty ink designs. From flowers to paw prints to minimalist lines - there are so many different ways to spice up your helix, the possibilities are endless. The best part? You never have to worry about losing an earring again!

I love this, it's so simple ♥ I'd want to get a black tattoo just like this one, only if the black ink stayed black forever, but nah it's a pity it turns kinda green after a while and it needs to be retouched :/
Thanks for posting! If you want to check my work go to instagram @ximenamil
With this one, you have to consider the fact that you will look like Van Gogh with your ear wrapped up like that (-;
If this guy is on my boat, he gets thrown off every time we want to stay put
This one is so dainty and pretty without the harsh black lines. I love it!
This one is good, why it got down votes? matches the rest of his ink.
Sorry, but living in Florida, they make me think of ticks. I assure you it would be a conversation starter on the best way to get rid of the blood suckers!
I think it looks like stained glass. I would love to see some color!
They look interesting. But a tattoo trend, again? It's not my business or anything and if you wanna do that, more power to you. But if you are going for a tattoo that will last for the rest of your life, I'd recommend to choose something on a place that isn't a "trend" at the moment and something you REALLY wanted to have for a long time. It gives it more meaning than just following a trend.
All this is cute and trendy, but unlike the rings and jewelry one can attach to the ears, lips, and nose, once they are in place, there is no removing them unless the recipient is ready to undergo some torture and actually pay for it as well. With the rings and jewelry, they can be removed, and the skin will quickly fill in the holes and the person will look normal again. That's the way to go if you want to show your individuality. :D
1) Some of these ears are nasty dirty 2) Those tattoos will look great when those are the ears of eighty year olds
Nope... doesn't make me want one. But after looking at all those pictures of ears, now I think ears are really funmny looking! :-)
Most popular tattoos on ear are minimalistic here is my favourite artist! https://www.inksearch.co/artist/mike-kyrtatas
Its a lot of great tattoo artist especially young ones trying to make new tattoo styles. Most known is the minimalistic tattoo. Nowadays in 2020, it is the most popular style in Europe. I found many nice tattoo artists making tattoos on-ear in minimalistic style. He's my favourite - https://www.inksearch.co/artist/mike-kyrtatas
It will probably fade really fast b/c of the cartilage.. but I guess it also depends on the individual's skin. I'll stick to my earrings.
Speaking as a plastic surgeon, this is a very bad idea for anyone of darker skin color. Because these skin types are very prone to keloid formation in the ear which is next to impossible to treat.
These are cool. Who cares if it's a trend.....tatoos in GENERAL can be anywhere you want it. I personally probably wouldn't do it cause I want to see my tats!
As a tattoo artist, I say, kindly shove these tiny ear tattoos up your a*s. Very far.
These tattoos seldom heal well. the skin on the helix is thin and it is a cartilage body part. often they heal really awful. none of these pictures are of a fully healed tattoo and at least two look photo shopped. this is a very bad idea
I love them. Just one question what does the 3 line band or line stand for
One thing for sure having a tat on ones ear, there is way less chance of the skin sagging as if on butt cheeks, face , backs and arms . I have no tats at all but these flowers are real cute. And not all that noticable
Love my tattoos and won't judge but I want to hide my ears not put them on show, so not for me
I've never wanted a tattoo, ever! But these are elegant and I love them! Not saying I'll get one, but if I were to get a tat, this would be the type!
Getting a tattoo is a lot like limiting yourself to wearing the same item of clothing for the rest of one's life. If you're really going to be happy stuck wearing the exact same item of clothing, day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year, then by all means get yourself "inked". . Otherwise, "Don't do it".
There's so much negativity here towards tattoos! I love mine. I don't think it makes me a hipster or worthy of condescension. I do like these ear tattoos but I'm not sure if they will hold up as well as ones elsewhere on the body. My artist would need to clarify that before I got one.
Am I the only one that really wants to pop those blackheads out of their ears?
I think they are cool only issue is the thinner the skin the harder to keep them as preaty as first done like toes and fingers
Whilst many people dislike tattoo trends, they are a godsend to me; I see stupid s**t like this and know to avoid inidividuals bearing these like the f*****g plague.
The mom in me desperately wants to do that mom thing where you get a tissue, put a little spit on it, and wipe that stuff off!
I would never get a trendy tattoo... Some of them may look interesting, and it's way better than the tattooed freckles thing, but I would still not get one of these just because "it's a thing now". I love tattoos with meaning, a historey behind, not simply decorative ones. But that's just my opinion.
I like the paw prints and some of the floral ones. Not a fan of the simple geometric and black bands. A lot of the tribal ones are appropriated from cultures that place specific meaning on the designs, number of bands, etc. Also worth noting that ear tattoos can fade and bleed ink more than other locations on the body.
Some of them, like #16 I like a lot, and some like #20 are just meh...
Horrible ! ALL OF THEM ! Girls GOD gave you beautiful bodies ! Don't screw them up with ink !
Ummm all of these tattoos are clearly fake sooooo is it trendy to get a stick on tattoo from ur local Chinese buffet and put it on ur ear and call it hipster? Super cool can't wait to get mine lololol
A lot of these guys and girls should have actually washed their ears before taking such close up photographs. Some of them are quite gross, yuk.
