Even though most pet owners would never part with their furry friends, in reality, traveling with animals is not as easy as it sounds. But the hassle starts even before traveling. For example, if you’re about to board an international flight, you should make sure that your pet meets the requirements for your destination country and is healthy enough to travel.
On top of that, every airline has different pet travel requirements, so you want to make sure you know them before boarding. Also, it depends on what kind of animal you're traveling with. For example, if you want to take a pet bird or other exotic animal with you out of the US, you may have to contact additional agencies, like USDA APHIS Veterinary Services (VS) and US Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS).

According to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, on airlines that allow pets to travel, only small dogs and cats that can fit in special carriers under the seat are allowed in the cabin. It’s critical that their owners take care of them during layovers.
Other airlines may not allow pets in the cabin and will transport them as cargo in specially constructed holds with ventilation and heating. And since for animals, it’s usually better to travel this way since it's darker and quieter, for their owners, it usually means higher transportation charges.

BRO! I've actually seen them in person at a women rights conventions thing in portland last year! I'm pretty sure I took a picture, I just can't find it. The llama was like twice my size 😅
The llamas that were kept on our property were about the size of a 12 hand horse. The stud male being kept at our place now is a little smaller but not by much. They are bigger and more sweet natured than alpacas.

This could go so wrong so quickly in so many ways. An Alpaca is a camel, and this group is known for being easy going and patient until they stop being easy going and patient and start biting and kicking and spitting, all of which they do very well.
People still shouldn't bring animals onto public transportations because of ~allergies~ and such things.

I had a pet rabbit who was a very good traveler. I'd put Jojo in a cardboard box to go to the vet, then open it on the bus so he could look out the window. Not every animal travels well, but he seemed curious and relaxed about what was going on.
I take my pet bird on train rides sometime when I go to visit my boyfriend. Birdo travels in his very own carrier and complains unless I hold him up so he can see out the window..he’s a pretty good traveller :)
i took my pets on the train too when needed because i didnt have a car/license, and they needed to go to the petsitter (my mom) They were totally unimpressed and I always kept them in the carrier. Worst thing that happened was when someone started sharing recipes for grilled guinea pigs.
What amazes me most about this is how these animals managed to order plane tickets. I think their talents are being overlooked.

My dad traveled by plane (Southwest) with his support dog last month. A little bichon that is mostly blind and never barks. She loves flying. The airport has an area for the service animals to relieve themselves before boarding, he walks her onto the plane by leash and as long as Cookie sits under the seat (where she prefers) or on my dads lap, there is no problem. No sitting on an empty seat tho. My dad has macular degeneration and barely sees better than the dog but is able to travel because of her.
When I had my pug she had to be in the bottom of the plane or in a flexible crate under the seat,. Now you can get 800lb ponies with you.
Not as much any more, pugs need special permission as their breathing issues mean they can only fly certain times of the year (I had a rescue puggle that had a longer snout so it wasn’t necessary) also most other animals are recently banded regardless of their status as a service animal. I would prefer my fur babies under the plane just cus the over excitement is a lot and they would so channel my nervous energy and not be good travel companions (too bad I can’t be there with them)

I have mixed feelings about this. a lot of these animals seemed terrified or worried and I feel like its putting them in unnecessary stress. its clear that they've never been in a environment like this before, and ther'e not used to it.
In a few pictures, it's obvious that the animal is upset. In most, I find it hard to tell. Years back, I did try to save money on transporting pets to the vet (a taxi would have added considerable expense). Most were fine, the odd one was unhappy.

I love dogs and own dogs, but allowing them to sit on a seat meant for humans is so inconsiderate. Allergies exist. And maybe someone doesn't want to sit where your dog poopy or wormy bum has just been. Dogs are not known for their personal hygiene.
Well, there's several aspects to that. If someone has a pet they carry the dander on their clothing and if people's allergies are that bad they're going to be affected by that. As for 'poopy or wormy' bum - these things are entirely preventable. Worm the dog regularly and it isn't an issue. Make sure the dog is clean after they've had a S H I T. I still wouldn't let my dog sit on a seat directly but let's understand fully what the implications are and what can realistically be done.

There are a bunch of laws, and as the handler of a legit highly trained service dog, must of these people are breaking laws. And posting these articles encourages it. I don't find most of these "cute". Most of them are disgusting, and a real hazard to my dog why took years to train.
Different countries have different laws though. I agree service dogs are highly trained and, most importantly, they're taught by professionals. Someone cuddling a pet and calling it an 'emotional support animal' is taking the piss when there are those who need genuine support or assistance. I worked with blind people using guide dogs for years. How is this a real hazard to your dog? I'd really like to understand.

I can understand your concerns. Fact is though, people can give them monthly medication to prevent worms and ticks staying attached and people can make sure they are clean on the rear. I check my dogs when out walking and they do their business and when they've been in the garden. I will clean the area if necessary. I'd also have them on my lap or a blanket on public transport to be on the safe side and for consideration of others. TBH only bad or ignorant owners let their dogs have worms, ticks or poo stuck to them for any length of time. I know that's sadly not much reassurance as there are far too many that aren't as considerate as they should be. What can you do??? 🙁 Many of us try!

Genuine question. If you have an allergy that dangerous how do you manage the issue of dander on the clothes of pet owners? It will be there. It varies across countries but the percentage of pet owners can range upwards of 45%. That's a massive stat. Cat dander is more sticky than dog and even harder to get rid of. The more allergic a person is, the greater the risk from a smaller amount of the allergen. How do you deal with that? Public transportation would be just one of the areas of risk. Shops, offices. All with a high percentage of people who will have dander on their clothes. A work colleague was allergic to a polish used by cleaning staff so she brought in a tablecloth and caused an allergy in several others because the cloth had cat dander on it. She was going 'but I washed it'. Wasn't enough. Sorry - probably sound critical when I'm genuinely curious NOT critical. I just don't know how people with severe allergies manage this aspect.
