I love Latin America and its beautiful, lush forests! The one thing that separates them from the other parts of the world is the wide range of colorful and endemic bird species that inhabit them! You must know that after seeing my pictures from Costa Rica, Ecuador, Peru & Brazil Atlantic forests by now.

The best part of being a full-time bird photographer is the opportunity to visit these lesser-known locations, explore them, and work with locals to bring out what one wouldn't see normally. I visited Colombia the first time in the year 2017 and fell in love with the birds and the local hospitality the country has to offer.

Colombia is known to be the country with the highest number of bird species in the world and for many reasons has grabbed the headlines in the bird world in recent years. Colombia’s bird list is nearing a staggering 2000 species, and in recent years eco-tourism has really started to flourish – it is primed to become the newest bird photography craze.

At the same time, there has been a steady growth in Colombian ornithology and the establishment of many private nature reserves to complement the public ones, all making locating many of the special birds more practical.

I have assembled 40 of my captures from Colombia for you. Enjoy and let me know what you think! All photos were taken with my trusted Canon 1Dx Mark ii and 600 mm lens. You can email me at info@supreetsahoo.com for any questions. Stay safe!
