Remember China’s Elevated Bus That Drives Over Traffic? Well, They’ve Actually Built It

Back in May we told you about a prototype bus in China that would, if built, literally drive right over traffic jams. Well, if we’re being totally honest with you, we never believed that the Transit Elevated Bus would actually get made. Which is why we’re pretty surprised to tell you that the TEB has literally just taken its first test drive in Qinhuangdao, Hebei!

The idea was first proposed at the 19th China Beijing International High-Tech Expo in May. Despite having nothing but a miniature model, developers Jinchuang Corp said they could have the bus ready by August. And true to their word, the TEB hit the road yesterday. It was only tested on 300 metres of track, but the fact that they could even make it – and in such a short amount of time – is impressive enough for us.

The developers say it’ll only take a year to finish. And this time, we believe them.

China’s Transit Elevated Bus (TEB) was nothing but a model back in May

And this is what it looks like just three months later!

i didn't believe it would push through either. i was thinking on how'd they'd manage not hitting over higher vehicles. but i guess nothing's impossible with the Chinese.

i think they can deploy it on roads with more than 2 lanes, such that higher vehicles can travel on other lanes to avoid it. but it has to be strictly enforced to avoid accident

Too many people think this is a stupid idea because of the height not enough to pass the truck . but they don't really know about China .because in many China cities ,the truck can't into the city center in the daytime . so I think that is a really stupid question .

Unfortunately this is not true. It's a project with no solid technology support, so they made this huge model to attract funds.

I am Chinese, and truth be told, you are F**KED. The programme is a totally notorious FRAUD. The TEB you saw is but an inferior model and the programme itself is just more a P2P platform to raise money than a construction project to change the traffic situation.

It looks like there are stairs at the platform, so I assume there is a platform lift taking people up and then the vehicle is on the same level.

So... it will navigate over most but not all types of personal vehicles? Anything the size of a minivan or bigger will still be an obstacle.

One question, 4,8 meters might not be enough to go over trucks on a flat road not to mention one with bumps where the truck might actually wobble up and down. Amazing idea, just a few nit picky things
