Amazing Before & After Pics Show What Happens After 2 Years Of Changing Habits

BoredPanda staff
It’s not easy to change your negative lifestyle habits. That’s why they’re called habits. But one woman finally decided that enough was enough, and as you can see from her incredible before and after pictures, the impact has been truly remarkable.
The 4ft 10″ 20-year-old, who goes by the name of melephants and who once weighed 143lbs, lost around 30lbs by eating properly, counting calories, and hitting the gym four to five times per week. She started by adjusting her eating habits (“I base my meals around a source of protein now (chicken, fish) and lots of veggies,” she says. “I don’t eat carbs that much, more on lifting days”) before gradually incorporating exercise into her routine. She spent most of her first month on the treadmill but she didn’t see much change, and so now she focuses more on HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training). She works her lower body two-three times per week and her upper body twice, and during those sessions she does deadlifts, squats, bench presses and hip thrusts.
She’s also made smaller changes to her life, such as standing instead of sitting on the train, drinking more water, and leaving snacks and junk food out of her house. “Honestly, it’s not only benefited my physical health but my mental health too,” she said, adding that her lifestyle change has been the “best decision I’ve ever made!” So if you’re looking to shake things up then what are you waiting for? Take a leaf out of this woman’s book and start taking steps towards a happier, healthier life!
What do you think ?
I'm a 260lbs woman and just hit that first goal. Lost 20lbs in 4 months with small diet changes and a little bit more exercise. ultimately I want to get to 180lbs which I think is a good goal. Changing bad habbits is really hard especially if you suffer from depression, low self esteem, and or physical conditions that make it harder to lose weight. Man or woman it is important to love who you are and if you don't like a habit you have developed it only takes a few months of hard work to make that change. Dont let you tell you that it is impossible or that the hill is too large. Just one foot infront of the other and the changes will happen.
Good Luck!!!
Lizzy R, well done on losing 20lbs, I admire you and know that it can be really hard to change habits. Keep going, exercise is a really good way to boost your mood and can have really positive effects on your self esteem too. Know that total strangers support you!
Good job Lizzy! I'm sure that your exercise and good habits will help your depression. I hope that you have the mental support from your family and friends and that you'll find moments of happiness to drive you <3 Exercise helped me empty my mind from depression and it works even better with friends :)
Best wishes to you Lizzy!
You've got this, girl!
good for you! I've gained weight for about over two years from eating late and went to bed right after, but I had enough, it make me so tired.. no energy for work, so I change my habit, stop eating by 6pm.. now I lost some weight and felt a lot better.
If you're suffering from depression, deal with that first thing. For some of us, the antidepressants are like insulin. Without them, we die. Don't listen to anyone who spouts the usual lies at you. When you take antidepressants, you aren't "drugged". You don't feel "dopey". They just clear away the fog. They let you be who you are, without the messed up brain chemistry that is making you miserable. ... And when you change habits, is has to be for life. You don't need a lecture on what you've done "wrong". You know that stuff. Make the decision to live and enjoy life.
so here's my opinion on this, I've been on antidepressents since I was 16. and after 10 years of being on them I know that some of them do mess with your chemistry and make you drugged or dopey. It means they are the wrong ones for you. The right ones do clear the fog and make everything a lot more bearable. heavy anti psychotics like resperidone (which was on for a number of years) start out with basically knocking you out because sleepiness is a side effect but that goes away the longer you take it. Yes some people do gain weight on anti-depressants. and some lose weight and some stay the same. We are all different and how we react to medication is different. Anti-depressants effect the serotonin and other receptors in the brain making us feel happier. Which is why some people find themselves unable to live off them because they have become addicted to the higher chemical levels. Aunt Messy my advice to you is just let who you think are stupid be stupid.
So I have two trolls who don't know what they're talking about. If you go off your antidepressant without consulting a physician, then you're an idiot. Margie, either you're making things up or your friends are idiots. ..... And zack - there are dozens of different antidepressants. Effexor makes you gain weight. So don't take it. And can we have a, "Duh, H'yuck!" for the twit brigade?
I know people who are addicted to anti-depressants and have attempted to quit them, and can't, often to great risk to their lives. I don't know if they make you fat or thin, but I do know they make you addicted and dependent.
Anti-depressants make you fat, don't listen to this person. What you're doing is working, keep at it!
She found a way to feel better about her body, without putting her health at risk .She is all the things women should look up to when they torture themselves tryng to get thinner.
Leonius, there are a ton of posts on here about men losing weight and transforming, too. It takes a special kind of egotistical stupidity to write under a positive story 'My brother did it better than this chick.'
Leo, if i was as roxic as you are i would as you how your brother became this fat in the first place. it isn't hard to be a bitchy crybaby, but making a change, that takes courage. so, good for him if he was able to change his lifestyle as well, but he's the one who should get the credits for doing so, not you whiny child. or are you jealous because there are people who actually achieved life goals?
