my friends dog stop fitting in the doggy door so when he needs to go out he sticks his head out through the doggy door and whines
You choose to interpret a lot of things we don't know, like the age of the dog. The owner speaks of him with great affection and I don't see any problems with not using his dog's name. After all, it can get confusing for strangers who don't know the dog. He's just keeping things simple, maybe. Or the dog's name is dog (my son's cat is named Miss Cat!). It's just a funny story.

It could be his way to say he misses his old home... Goldies are such sensitive and loving dogs...
I was thinking the same, but I'm not counting, I don't know anything about dogs.
Load More Replies...they just need to install his relocation update, but don't, it's too funny (& a little germy..)
Fairly certain that if you own a dog the no germ ship has sailed. (Not that I'm saying it's a bad thing per say).

At Christmas I bought some Bells that hang on the door k**b, and taught our Jack Russell Terrier puppy to reach up and ring the bells to go out, and ring some on the outside to come in. Now my hearing-impaired husband can even hear when she wants out & in. It's easier to train the dog than the husband.
My dogs bark really loud whenever they want out. Including late at night.
All the doors smell the same,he could tell the door before because it had a different smell, dogs have use different methods to differentiate between similar spaces than we do and memory isn't their strong suit.Spray the door with something that he liked and he will always remember.
My dog would walk to me, then walk to the door when he wanted out. I even trained him to only go in one area of the yard.
I did babysit for a Canine family member of a friend for a short while. He used to promptly pick up his leash and put it at my feet and look up.
Smarter than my last little pinhead. She never learned to alert me when she had to go! In fact, one night I got up to go to the bathroom, when I came back she had peed all over the exact middle of the bed!! Arrg! I ended up sleeping in the recliner that night!
Mine walks to the front door, then comes back and looks at me expectantly.. for peeing, and pooping. If for some reason it happens in the middle of the night, he will not wake us up, but go in the master bathroom, on the floor!
Oh, look, another smug, self righteous pet owner making sweeping assumptions about other people's animals. Boredpanda is rife with a******s like you

But that doesn't mean I don't love my pets. Also, you don't know either how old the dog exactly is, nor what the owner does to help or help him not to relearn. Maybe he just don't know how to help him the right way, maybe he tries to figure out, but wanted to tell the story. Maybe he has shorten the story. Its okay to suspect things about a story, but saying it like it would be fact ist kind of wrong.
